Does anyone know how you a get skills assessment? I’ve qualified in Australia but it asks for a reference number.
many thanks

What reference number did you use for your skills assessment?

I’m just doing my English test and will then register my interest. That’s worrying that you have had to wait so long. There are not many solicitors approved this year. Is that why?

Hi
I would be interested to see how you get on. I am actually flying out tomorrow to be admitted in WA on 1 November. I am really grateful to Racmac for her guidance along the way.
I too will have 65 points.
I look forward to seeing how you get on.
thanks

Congratulations, that's great news to finally qualify. Did you have experience in Australia? Is that why you didn't need to do any post grad study. I have heard that most people need to complete Accounts and Ethics. Like many others the concern is that Solicitors are removed from the occupation list before the visa application is submitted. Have you heard of any circumstances where a conditional admission is granted?
Many thanks

Hi Maria
It sounds like you have done really well. How hard was it to get a positive skills assessment? How long has the process taken?
thanks

Does anyone have any updates on the skills assessment. Do you have to requalify before getting a positive skills assessment? Can you get a conditional admission and then a positive skills assessment?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Dear Killara
I am a qualified solicitor in England and Wales. I am planning to apply 189 but I really do not have time to go for the lengthy requalification process into Australia. I am exploring ways to get a positive skill assessment without being admitted as a solicitor in an Australian state.
I note your views below
"An overseas legal practitioner can apply to a SLAA for an assessment of their qualifications and experience. DIBP will treat that assessment as a skills assessment (hence not necessary to be admitted as a lawyer in Australia to obtain a skills assessment). An experienced overseas legal practitioner may be able to obtain a positive skills assessment without having first been admitted as a lawyer in Australia. I have experience of this. "
This experience will be very helpful for me to see how I can find a way out. Could you please explain a bit more or chat privately?
Many thanks indeed!
Hi
Please could you let me know if you have found a way to do this as I am in the process of completing an application to have my skills assessed. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi
I would be really grateful for some assistance. I have been a qualified Solicitor for 15 years and also want to apply for exemption based on experience. Please can you provide some guidance as to the type of information you included in your Application.
Many thanks
