Ahhh might not be able to see you stacey! Im at the kangaroo sanctuary untill the 18th of feb and thats like 5 hours from perth!! maybe our paths will cross at one point!

Hey guys! I leave tonight for perth woooo. My backpack weighed around 9kg which i was happy with, but with some last minute final packing its now 11kg. I weigh around 57kg im wondering if this is ok and what other peoples experience has been with a heavy pack. Ive tried to pack really light, threw a lot of stuff out but cant seem to get the weight lower than 11, kind of need everything ive got i think!

Ill be in Perth for around a month then start backpacking my way up to darwin, not set and stone just going with the flow!

Only 7 weeks to go till i will be boarding my plane to Perth!! so excited, today i have started ordering things i will be needing for my trip, its all becoming so real now, I cant wait, I haven't posted much but i read everyone's threads and thankful for everyone's tips and stuff! I arrive on the 20th of January but Im going to Perth first I think I will be in Sydney around March Not long left for us to wait!!!

yes i wil try and find as much free wifi as possible and will keep my data for when i cant find any and need to arrange where im staying etc aw its all so scary haha

It would be to make calls as well, but not many i suppose internet is the most important thing to make sure i can arrange places to stay and go etc

Hi guys, ive been looking at what phone network to go with, probably going to go with telstra because of the wider range! but I was wondering, whats everyones plans when backpacking about using the net?? Of course its something i will have to use regularly, finding hostels, arranging couch surfing or help x things, has anyone found any good mobile network internet deals? or is there lots of free wifi in cafes etc in oz that everyone plans on using? Im a bit confused as to whats my best option when it comes to internet hopefully someone can give me a hand thanks!

what was your main checklist of things that needed organised? i have my visa, my flights, apart from that i havent organised anything, just making sure theres nothing major im forgetting lol if you could help me out that would be great you seem pretty clued up!

have you looked in to the backpacker buses? the greyhound one for example? they seem ideal well if your moving around a lot i suppose. Any events or anything your planning to go to?

I havent really been thinking about actually getting paid work over there, if something comes up id take it i suppose but hopefully couch surfing will help me out a lot what area of work are you hoping to get? OH no really that is so rubbish, I know what you mean im not too bothered about 2nd year visa, although we might as well get it while were out there! The farm i am going to in queensland in through help X, so i am not getting paid but they have definitely told me they can sign for 2nd year visa! I have triple checked now lol

OH no maybe i made a mistake!! I have another place I'm going to its a farm and they can DEFINITLEY sign 2nd year visa's i just double checked. Ive emailed the kangaroo place to double check though, thanks for making me aware to double check

Thanks! emmm a bit of both really! when i get to Perth I am help x'ing at a kangaroo sanctuary for a couple of months (goes towards my 2nd visa) after that just going to back pack around, I want to be in brisbane area around April/May to go to Nimbin's mardi grass festival! Apart from that im just going with the flow what about you are you heading over soon?

Hi guys, havent posted anything in a couple of months but I am now sooooo excited!!

I have my visa, and i booked my flights last night. I will be flying to Perth on the 18th of January its all happening now, anyone else travelling around the same time as me? anyone any tips of things i should be looking in to going to? I plan on using the 2 backpacker buses, greyhound and easyrider i think its called! would be great speaking to people in the same boat as myself

Would you just get buses/trains and move around till you find one? That sounds good, can't wait to hear how it goes for you

I'll have a look at the gap year programmer see what that is all about . I'm going on my own as well, eeeeek! Makes it scarier eh haha will be such an adventure though I'm guessing you just book a hostel for a couple if weeks and in those weeks try your dam hardest to get a job?

Hi kayleigh you can let me know how it is maybe you could give me some advice are you doing any kind if programmer or just going for it and finding a job when you are over? Sounds like Sydney is a good place to start, I've only just started planning so I don't have a clue what I'm doing yet haha
