Ah once you’ve uploaded them you can sit back and relax for a while . Processing time is quite lengthy at the best of times but well worth waiting for .
Yes, I’m not expecting to hear anything for a while. Especially considering the current situation. Any idea on the waiting time to be given an exam date?

Hi
I will let you know when I get to the end of mine. I ma currently filling one in. Did you have to put in all your holidays since turning 18? Seems a bit onerous. If you are about 50 then that's obviously going to add up to a lot of holidays, probably more than 12 months, which means a penal clearance certificate required by the looks of it?
I’ve submitted mine now and haven’t had any feedback from Immigration to say I’ve missed anything out. I’m not sure when to expect it will get picked up.
Yes, I had to enter all my holidays since the age of 18. I’m 36 now so that part took a long time, plus my wife is the same age as me and we generally went on the holidays together so it was a case of entering the same thing twice!
I think you only need a penal clearance certificate if you’ve lived somewhere for a year, rather a a cumulative year of holidays over 30 years or so.
i wasn’t asked to provide a penal certificate and don’t expect to be.

When I got to the “Attach Documents” stage of my citizenship application I noticed there was a section for both of my parents, however when I click into it there is no option to provide and files.
I don’t know why they are listed here because i don’t have any of their documents to provide.
has anyone else noticed this and has any info on why they would be shown?

I personally found the paper application much easier and I know a few others that started the online process and then went down the paper application route also . A child / children under 16 years is to be included on one of the parents applications online , there is a question where you can tie in your spouse which is simply for ceremony purpose only . If you want to carry on with the online application I would still have a look at the paper application as it has more notes on it as to what they expect from the online questions .
Thanks. Yes, I have completed it and the status is “Awaiting Documents” (identity forms only)

Hi Martyfenwick
You can include a dependent child aged 15 or younger (so under 16) in your application.
Thanks. I’ve done exactly that. The only thing left to do is get the identity forms signed. It’s not the best time in the world to be doing that.

I made a James Blunt of this, so i'm planning on asking a family friend to sign it. I hope they're ok signing it in the current climate.
A JP will not suffice for this (unless they actually know you)

I'm really tempted to abandon my daughter's application, which i've barely populated and just attach her to mine. It seems more natural and her details have been added to mine already.

as far as I know and we're in the process of applying - 16 and under go on a parents application, my 17 year has had to apply in her own right
Do you have incomplete applications in your ImmiAccount too?
-
I am a bit confused whether or not, in the ImmiAccount, children should have their own Citizenship Application or if they can be tagged on to one of the parent's applications?
In my ImmiAccount right now I have three (incomplete) applications, one for myself, one for my wife and one for my daughter. I have progressed my application on a bit further and now it is asking for child details under 16 years old.
Does anyone have any experience with this that can confirm?
Many thanks.

I’ll give them a call at lunch and see what they say. I have a bad feeling I’m going to have to go back to square 1 with this

Does anyone know if a Justice of the Peace who hasn’t known you for more than a year can sign a Form 1195 for Australian Citizenship?
A JP has agreed to sign my form, however she has signed the form saying she has known me for 0 years. This is true, however I am wondering how strict this really is?
Does anyone have any experience of this?

On line. Now a citizen. I think paper applications are restricted. I would do on line.
Thanks for your help. I’m finding it difficult to get a hold of a Justice of the Peace to sign my documents just now.

Yes that is the only thing we got signed.
Did you do an online application or was it a full paper application?

No need to certify documents, just upload a colour scan of the original.
Thanks. I was trying to avoid asking someone to sign documents twice. The ID form and photo needs signed obviously

Hi,
I can't seem to find a definitive list of documents I need to have certified for an Australian Citizenship application.
I am aware I need to get Form 1195 (Identity Declaration) https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/form-listing/forms/1195.pdf signed by a suitable member of the community, however do they need to certify other documents?
I will be doing the online application as I think it will be easier to manage and track.
Any advice is appreciated.

I am filling in a Form 40 and it lists a bunch of documents that I need. It’s all documents that I would expect to have to provide, such as:
- birth certificates
- marraige certificates
- latest income tax assessment
- pay slips
what the form doesn’t explain is when do I provide these documents? Normally a form would have a checklist of documents to include, but this doesn’t have it.
are they requested at a later date?

My wife’s parents are currently paper-gathering to apply for the 143 parent visa.
The visa requires the 47pa form to be filled in, however I am unsure if the 47a form needs to be filled in by all family members older than 18. Both my wife and her only sibling live in Australia, so the question is do they both have to fill in a 47a?

They do not care where the money comes from, but the want the assurer/s to be usually resident in Australia.
Great. I was concerned that they’d want to see a history of where the money has came from. Is AoS common for parent visas?
-
My in-laws are currently looking at a visa which requires a financial AoS of approx $20,000 AUD. I’ve had a read of the link below, however I would like to know if immigration are specific about where the money has come from.
For example, assuming I am the sponsor/assurer then do I have to send Centrelink the $20,000 and will they look for a paper trail as to where the money originated from?
My in-laws would send the money to me, since I don’t have $20k, so can I then pay it? Or can they just pay it to Centrelink direct?

Why don't you have a free initial consultation with an agent. I can recommend Alan Collett at go matilda, details on their website.
Thanks, I exchanged a few emails with Overseas Emigration in Edinburgh. They have been useful in the past and are well-versed in AU emigration.

We originally applied for the 864 visa March 2017 and stupidly believed the government processing time of on average 1 year!!!
Nearly 2 years later processing has only moved 2 months, from October 2016 to November 2016. Rumour has it that the application date is now possibly aligned to the 143 visa, if so could now take many more years to grant.
That is disappointing to here. I was also under the impression the 864 had a reasonable processing time because the price of the visa is high and worth processing for the Australian government.
Do you mind me asking if you have paid the first instalment and what the terms are on that? Considering the timeframes involved - are the instalments refundable?
What are the other options for bringing parents into Australia?
-

You can google the cost of both visas. The 143/864 costs approximately $103,000 for a couple before medical and police check costs, about $600 more if you apply onshore.
If you go family/partner visas there is a dedicated parent visa thread, which will help answer most questions.
I have read a bit about the 864 at https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/contributory-aged-parent-864 and it does look quite suitable too, although it doesn’t give any indication of processing time. At the moment it says “Processing times are not available for this visa.”
The temporary to permanent route would be more desirable, however I can’t quite get my head around an approximately 3-4 year processing time for a visa that is only valid for 2 years.
It seems like there are a low number of applicants for this visa and perhaps that is why they can’t offer estimated processing time.

Actually, the total cost for a contributory parent visa is about $130k.
Wait times are also blowing out and I would go with at least five years, but could, if things go as they are be significantly more. So, do factor in will they be able to pass medicals then.
If they only want temporary visits, then a 600 visa might be a better option.
Is that $130,000 AUD for the permanent or temporary visa? Is that figure from personal experience? Also is that per person or per couple?
Do you know why the times are increasing?
They are aiming at an initial temporary stay followed by a more permanent arrangement.

My wife’s parents are looking at moving over from the UK to Australia originally on a temporary basis. The visa subclass that appears to fit the bill is the subclass 173 - Contributory Parent (Temporary)
I’m keen to hear about experiences of applying for this visa, processing times and if there is any suitable alternatives.
From what I’ve read, the processing time for this visa is anywhere between 3 and 4 years. Is that typical and does anyone know why the processing time is so long? Are applications throttled?
Also, the price is currently showing at $31,000 AUD - is this per person or can both parents travel on the one visa with one being the primary applicant?
Do kids have their own Citizenship Application?

No, I don’t think so. I do remember a question about - do you have a child applying on another application so your wife would presumably answer yes to that. The best thing to do is start the application and see what you have to provide. You can save it and resume where you left off anyway.
