  1. Hey guys! Long time no speak!

Thought i'd sign in and do a bit of an update on life.

So I moved out here, to beautiful Busselton WA on April 1st 2016 after my PMV300 was approved on March 29 2016. I think it took just shy of 9 months to be approved. Our CO called me in Dec 2015 saying he had everything he needed and it was ready to go but as our wedding date was November 2016 he couldn't approve it yet, which was fine and gave me time with my family before I left.

Fast forward just over a year, we got married (wooohooo!!) it was a beautiful day but abnormally warm for a South West spring day - 38 degrees!

On Dec 16th 2016 we put in for our 820, my PMV 300 expired on Dec 29th and rolled straight into a bridging visa A (I was notified just before that this would happen and that I didn't have to do anything), had an email on March 15th asking my Husband (who is aussie) to get a police check and that's it so far. It's been almost 5 months, but we aren't holding out any hope for contact any time soon with those waiting lists. It's not a big deal as i'm here, I can work and if I need to get back to the UK or leave Australia I can apply for the BVB. The only frustration I guess, and it's very minor right now as we are not planning yet, is that if we have a baby I will not be entitled to any government benefits. So, all good really!

  2. I can't believe I used to LIVE on this site and it's been 4 months now since I last logged in! How is everyone?!

Things here are going OK but a bit slow. I am 2 weeks away from being halfway through my PMV now, which means only 4 months to go until the wedding - eek!

Still haven't found a job. It's been so slow on the job front. I've been volunteering at the local hospital to get me out of the house. I'm going a bit nuts not working, not to mention a little broke, too!!

  3. Hi everyone! just wanted to do a super quick update.

Arrived in Perth on Saturday after a smooth 21 hour Journey via Singapore on Singapore Airlines. The only issue I had with my journey was when checking my bags in at Heathrow, the lady at the desk didn't know about Singapore's 40kg allowance. luckily I had an email from them a couple of months ago confirming, so she checked with her supervisor and it was fine. Just a word of warning that it might be worth getting some written confirmation with who you intend to fly with, as it was an extra 56GBP per kilo and didn't fancy paying nearly 700 for an extra case!

Fast forward a few hours to arriving in Perth, had all my paperwork ready to be questioned, and I walked straight through. Nothing. Maybe it was because i'm from the UK? i don't know, but I was expecting a 'why are you emigrating' at least. Nope! So out I came to Benn waiting for me in arrivals and there our 3 hour journey drive began.

Since then I've been doing all the boring stuff like opening bank accounts, sorting medicare, registering at GP's etc. The weather has been around 24 which has been lovely, and i'm just starting to feel a little less jet lagged and more human!

  4. No nothing yet, it's been over 2 months since they signed for it... My sons friend was told there's a 6/8 week delay but now it's over 2 months she's gonna call the Spanish ministry of justice again see if they can give her any more info... If this was holding the grant up I'd be so pissed off but since they couldn't grant anyway it's not bothered me to much. Would be nice to have it in my hand tho!!! Lol

How things going with yr plans?

Yeah. There's always something isn't there? I wanted to get my shipment off so I wouldn't have to wait so long once I was in Aus but they won't ship without a visa which is a pain but never mind. So instead it's heading out on March 30th and I'll just hope it all arrives within the 3 months!

26 days to go and I haven't packed a case yet. I'll end up doing it a few days before!

  5. Hi Sorca,

Being homesick is the worst. When I was 19, I moved out from the uk to Adelaide to be with my boyfriend. I had the worst homesickness I've ever had in my life for about 6 months. Then all of sudden I secured a temp job for a few months and started making friends, going out for dinner etc, which made a HUGE difference to me, but I know that people deal with things completely differently. Do you work, have you made your own friends outside of your marriage?

  6. If it's that straight forward I'd consider doing it yourself. I didn't even know about agents until I had lodged the last visa and joined this forum, and like I said, unless it's complicated circumstances I'd much rather do it myself to save all that money! There's a heap of people on here that'd be more than happy to offer you advice if you get stuck!

  7. hey Tracy, I'm still waiting for my Spanish police check to come back.. I was told to apply for it after the 19th December so sent for it on 23rd.. It should have only taken 10 days but I've now been told there's a big back log at the moment due to Spanish law change so instead for taking 10 days it will take 2 months!! I'm using an agent & she has ask for an extension, I scanned my receipt from the post office so they could see when I sent for it... I haven't heard anything for the pasted week so I assume that everything is ok.... At the end of the day it's out of our hands.. I know of others waiting for police checks from other countries so we are not the only ones.... Hope this helps a little :)

That's such a pain!! At least you know it can't be approved until next month anyway which makes it two months from the date you sent off for the police check. Still, it's always nice to know that everything is in and ready to go! We're nearly there :cute:

  8. When I was 14/15 (17 years ago), the internet was an 'upcoming' thing, full of the unknown and excitement. I spent my allocated hour on AOL dial up (there were 4 kids in my house) chatting with a nice Aussie boy 3 years my senior. Time evolved, webcams were invented, and we'd spend hours talking and getting frustrated with the crappy connection.

To cut a long story short, I am marrying this man on November 26th this year . I will be 31, he will be 34, and despite all the in between of other relationships, marriage and kids, we always knew it was each we wanted and despite the long tough wait and we are FINALLY doing it.
