Also, has everyone received an acknowledgment email on the same day as when they applied? I haven't received anything at all and I'm not sure why. The site was a bit glitchy last night but the payment went through and the status changed from "Submitted" to "Received".
I received the acknowledgement email within half hour of submitting the application.

online? where should I do it?
There is a link to reschedule the appointment in the appointment email received from DIBP. If you have been notified by letter, then you can only do it via call.
-
Hi How did you change the appointment time?
The easiest way is to do it online. You can do it by calling the Immi & Border protection, but you have to wait longer on phone.

Any updates on City of Greater Dandenong? I have done my test and approved on 29 August 2016 and still waiting for ceremony.
-
I am hoping it won't be longer as I have to pickup son from school or I have to arrange for someone else to pick him up.
The appointment for verification and test wont take much time. But the waiting time to see the CO may vary. I would say, better look for alternate arrangements to pick your son.
-
Thanks for the reply Simran-I dont have the previous passport with me now.
I am bit worried about the CO-on the appointment day.
Also do they just check the originals or do they make a copy of all the originals?
Yes, they do ask for originals and make a photo copy. But they don't ask for the old passport, as all the entry and exit would be noted and available in their system. I took my old passport and they said its not required, as they could see the entries in the system.
-
Thats correct. They don't ask for the old passport, as all the entry and exit would be noted and available in their system. Infact they have pics of us that was taken everytime when we enter Australia too. My CO was showing my pic which was like 4 years old
So dont need to worry about that..

Do we need any overseas police check or federal police checks to apply for citizenship?
They do the federal police check. But if you have traveled outside Australia while you were a permanent resident for more than 90 days. Then they might ask to get one for the country you have traveled.

Guys, how much time does the approval letter normally takes after test?
The letters are printed and sent from Canberra. It took more than two weeks for my friend to receive it.
Apparently, its not a big deal whether you receive it or not, as long as your CO has confirmed it. Also, the status of the application remains same throughout. So don't bother much about the status in the application. You should receive the letter sooner

Hi,
Applied citizenship for my 2 year old kid along with me. Does the kid need to attend the appointment for citizenship test interview as well?
Nope. Your kid do not require to attend the interview/test. But you should carry all the documents of yours and your Kid during the appointment.

I sat mine on the 16th and it took three weeks. There may be a delay for the AFP at the moment?
Could be. Again it depends whether you have travelled outside of Australia after getting your PR. In our case, we didn't travel at all after our PR. So its less complicated and they could approve immediately on the same day. I had my test on 29th August.
-
I note that a lot of people seem to get an approval letter confirming the citizenship test has been passed. On most instances, it's dated the same day.
I sat and passed my test on August 23rd. It's now over two weeks and I've yet to receive a letter. Is this anything to be concerned by?
The approval letter is issued based on the Australian Federal Police Clearance. As soon as they receive the clearance from AFP, they approve and issue the letter. In most cases, they receive the clearance on the same day. So it totally depends on the processing from AFP.

Thanks DranP! Yeah I was approved in May so fingers crossed I'll be in the next one in November.
I've called the department a few times to inquire about my ceremony date and the Customer service Reps(CSR) I've spoken to have always said "No" when I asked about a tentative date. Anyway I've stopped calling and will just wait for the invite whenever it's meant to come

I remember reading somewhere in this forum. Someone has mentioned about no. of people waiting for their ceremony. Would it be possible to get that info by any chance? I wish I should have asked this question with Case Officer. She was very kind and helpful. Now I cant reach her anymore..

Anyone from Glen Eira city council in Melbourne who were approved in May receive a ceremony invite yet? Third ceremony happening at the council today since I was approved and am not on today's list either Apparently there are 150 people per ceremony (saw a tweet from the last ceremony!), and the CSR's do not even give out tentative dates on the phone.. Sigh
Hi Catalyst2012, My friend has attended his ceremony last night. I was there in the ceremony function. 140 people were there in the ceremony. His application was approved on last week of April. So I believe you will be in the next slot. Good luck!
Btw, what does CSR's mean? Where did you enquire about the date of ceremony??

Hi James, I had the test on 29 Aug 2016 and received a post on 02 Sep 2016 that, the application has been approved dated on 29 Aug 2016. I believe we would be mostly getting similar dates.
Keep us updated, if you have received your approval letter.

I received it in my mailbox
I should expect a letter by tomorrow then!
-
Did you receive an email or a letter in mailbox?
-
Hi. When applying for citizenship online, do we have to attach certified copies of our documents or can we just scan the originals and attach it to the application without having it certified.
Yes, you are required to upload the certified copies of the documents. Uncertified documents are not accepted and the case officer might ask you to submit the certified ones which would eventually delay the process.
