G'day.
Im a plumber from the UK
Im currently sponsored by my employers in Sydney on a 457 visa. In the next couple of months I am going to want to get the ball rolling to become a permanent resident. in order to get my 457 I went to master plumbers to complete the tests so i could get my skills recognised and get my cert 3 certificate.
Can anybody tell me if I have to do the vetasses skills recognition too? the websites don't seem to be much help!
Thanks
Rich

Hi all
I have been here (Sydney) 10 months now on a 417 WHV and have been working for a couple of plumbing companies. My plan was to always try and get sponsored, but wanted to find the right employers.
Ive been with one company for 4 months now and there great, really helpful and friendly. They have sponsored people in the past so theres no issue there. They have now said they are going to sponsor me!!! I thought great... finally a stress I can cross off and get the ball rolling.
after speaking to several migration companies they have told me that if your a plumber or an electrician going onto a 457 now, you have to have your skills assessed and be suitable for a license. without this i can't proceed.
I knew i would have to take the skill assessment at some stage, but i thought that was before applying for PR
Has anyone else been through or going through this now? any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Rich

Hi guys
Very new to pomsinoz but my wife and I have been in Oz for 7 months now on a working holiday visa, hopefully soon to be sponsored.
We a currently living in Manly and loving life. The only thing missing is some good mates? Its hard to meet new people when starting again somewhere
completely different, as I'm sure lots of you have found.
So thought id post on here to see if any people fancy meeting up for drinks, coffee dinner? whatever really.
we are both in our late 20's
Cheers

Hey
we are a UK couple with PR.
Our little girl was born 6 days after our Permanent residency was granted (doesn’t matter that it took 13 months for approval )
but my fathers pay was approved
but my wife’s maternity pay was declined.
Has anyone else had the same issue?
cheers
