@IanS61 ~ at least you already have Case Officer? Now just waiting for them to request the 2nd payment. Why do you have to do Aus Police Check?

Not sure about CO, is one allocated when formal request for docs sent out ?

we had to do Aus police checks because we had been in Australia longer than 1 year ( cumulatively in the past 10 years )

  2. Just a quick update. All docs now submitted and waiting for the request for 2nd VAC, hopefully not long now !

rahulshankar lodged the day before me and was granted visa on 15-02-18

one thing to note - the AOS process with centerlink is a nightmare, my son paid the bond on 14-12-17 we were told to expect confirmation letter shortly, but this hadn't arrived by

the end of January 18, my son rang them and they said it had been sent out on 20-12-17. it had got lost in post, a new copy was received 07-02-18

  3. Hi bridgie

we are in the same position as you, travelling out in November on e600 visa waiting for CPV about March 2017.

we had the same email from immi, just replied stating we did not want the extended visa, just 12 months.

we received visa grant the same day, 12 months stay from date of entry. ( not visa grant ) the latest we can enter Australia is 12 months from visa grant.

as I understand it the 600 visa only allows a maximum stay of 12 months in any 18 month period, so after 12 months you will have to leave for 6 months before re-entry.

    hope this helps

    Ian.

  4. I am looking for a definitive answer, "can you ship stuff before visa grant ?"

I am waiting on a contributory parent visa 143, the current wait is about 24 months, and like others I am intending to fly out early on a tourist visa (e600) and await visa grant. I was hoping to ship all our stuff before we leave so we don't have too long to wait for it.

I know there is a risk of not getting the visa, but we are both fit & healthy, so don't anticipate any problems.

there seems to be various answers out there, " no not possible" , "yes but you have to pay import tax on new items" etc, etc.

    any help would be appreciated.

    Ian.

  5. Hi Ian,

Unfortunately it's not a done deal, some people have been turned down due to medical issues which comes down to the cost of on going treatment in Australia. The e600 visa took us about 4/5 weeks however that was due to immi requesting we had medical insurance to cover the duration of the trip, unfortunately they wouldn't tell us if we needed full cover such as BUPA provides or a travel policy with the usual medical covers. Despite emailing them and asking for clarification we kept getting the same cut and paste response saying we needed medical insurance. In the end we opted and paid for the 12 month travel cover which cost around £600 emailed a copy and the visa came through.

    Hi Joe

any reason you went for the e600 visa ? I have just looked at the e651 visa that I already have ( expires june 2016 so will need to renew anyway ) and that allows for multiple 3 month stays for a year.

so I thought I could enter Australia, stay for 3 months and then visit daughter in Hong Kong ( or anywhere else ) and re-enter for further 3 months, which should be long enough for visa grant.

am I wrong in this assumption ?

    Ian.

  6. Hi Everyone

as I said earlier, we are aiming to go to Australia to wait for CPV grant probably in December.

I have looked at visitor visas and it looks like we will be ok with normal e651 visa ( multiple visits for up to 3 months within a twelve month period )

we could go to Hong Kong and visit our daughter before 3 months is up, and then come back for 3 months ( which should allow for CPV grant before May )

some people ( Harleydphil ) have said they applied for e600 visa which costs more and is a more complicated application.

    any thoughts regarding e651 & e600 ???

    Ian.

  7. Hi IanS61 we are close to your date lodged our 143 on 28/4/15 acknowledged 30/4/15 we are in Australia at present on a 600 visa have to leave in May. Have been a member for some time and have learnt so much from the site. Let's hope immi get a change of heart and speed up over the next year 

    Hi HarrisL16

do you have to leave / re-enter every 3 months on a 600 visa ? also does the 12 month limit start on first entry to Australia or from visa grant ?

as you say, I hope things speed up !

  8. Hi everyone. Looking through all the posts it seems that most of the "posters" are well on the way to having their visas granted and finally moving. Well done!

I only lodged my 143 application in December 15 so clearly have a long wait ahead. There must be lots more parents out there in the same situation so it would be good to make contact so that we can provide mutual support as has so evidently been the case for those of you who already have this experience of being in the waiting room for what must seem to be an eternity.

Can someone answer a couple of questions for me please?

    1) If I happen to be in Australia on Holiday when meds are requested then can I have them done there? Would that end up being a lot more expensive or not?

    2) When I finally am (hopefully) granted my 143 visa, then if I came to Australia for say a couple of months to activate it then returned to the UK to finish sorting out things (such as house sale) here, then where would I be "officially" resident, for example in terms of health care and tax.

Thank you in advance for any replies. It really is brilliant to have this sort of forum.

Hi AMP, I am a little way in front of you, 143 lodged 19-3-2015.

like others we have decided to "just go for it" and move out in December 2016 ( 20 months in ) on e600 visitors visa and wait it out in Australia.

we have already sold our house and have the money in our Oz bank account making us 3% interest.

I too have a couple of questions.

    1) does anyone actually get turned down for the CPV or is it " a done deal " ????

    2) how long does it take to get the e600 visa ? I don't think it's instant like the 3 month e-visa online ? and we want to get one before we book flights etc.

  9. Hi everybody.

I'm a newbie on this forum, just started the process of 143 application.

I am a bit confused, everyone says how slow this process is but my 1st 3 steps have happened within 1 month.

Lodged 19-03-15, receipt/1st VAC 27-03-15 and today acknowledgement letter arrived !

    are things speeding up ?
