  1. Hi,

I am looking to make a move to Australia and am currently looking at an agent http://www.emigrateaustralia.co.uk

Has anyone else had experience of this agent and can recommend them or any one else?

They are offering assistance completing 189 visa, medical and getting onto medicare, legal processes, criminal checks, finding accommodation and finding a job.

  2. Hi, I have read of several price comparison sites that living in Melbourne is actually cheaper than London, is this true?

I keep hearing from Expats that the cost of living is that much higher than the UK, I have spent some time in Oz before travelling and I noticed a bit of an increase but not massive in comparison to what I was used to.

  3. I would recomend against. They are not MARA registered and merely claim to use a bank of MARA agents. The golden rule when using an agent is to use a MARA agent.

You our age is good, but when you say you work in construction, that is a broad area. What exactly is your trade?

as for the best place, difficult to say. For example, civil engineers are struggling in WA while brickies are in high demand. I recomend you look at seek.com.au for an indication.

Construction project manager, I have already checked the SOL and it is on the list, I have checked seek for the particular type of construction I work in which is retail and commercial to get a good idea of salary range. I have checked the companys accreditation and they are not MARA but they work with MARA registers consultants, assuming this makes them a sort of 'middle man' who collate the whole process.

  4. The first thing to consider, is that if using an agent, ensure they are MARA registered.

If if you can tell us more about yourself, we can help point you in directions.

32, single bloke, working in construction.

Not sure where to go though, seems like Melbourne is the best place.

Im using a company called emigrateaustralia.co.uk, have you heard of them?

  5. A warning, always do lots of research on your migration agent and company, there are a lot of bad agents out there happy to take your fee's for nothing.

The company im using is emigrateaustralia.co.uk, have you heard of them?

  6. All depends on your situation, if you single and free...then you have little to lose, if you have a wife and kids then its a big decision.

tell us more about your situation>?

Free, single, just bought my own flat so I would rent that, just starting to get into my career in construction.

I have been to Australia about 4-5 years ago so have already done all the major citys on the west cost.

  7. Just for yourself?..i suspect this is just the agents fee.

Yes that would be just for myself, I was not sure if that was good or bad.

That will include, visa, CRB check, medical, legal fees, assistance finding a job and assistance finding housing.

  8. 30-40% more isn't a hell of a lot when the cost of living is as expensive as it is!

    Whats your profession?

Im a construction project manager, Ive looked at some price comparison sites and costs are cheaper than London prices apparently.

I was out there 4 years ago so am aware that thinks like cigarettes and alcohol are highly taxed.

  9. "Aus $40k savings as per the visa requirements".???? ehhhh say what...correct me if i'm wrong but there's nothing stopping you going with 50p in the bank!

Yes I was told that the rule that you have to have money in your bank to enter Australia was removed

  10. I was starting to do it myself but after reading through forums I think i'm going to go via an agency. Where are you thinking of moving to?

I have not even thought that far ahead, I have family and friends in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Ideally I would like Sydney but it seems like majority of the work is in Melbourne.

  11. Hi, I am thinking of making the leap to Oz, my career has come up on the skills wanted list and the money I can make and the life I could live just seems too good to pass up.

My question is, what is it that I have not thought of, obviously there are migratration costs, living costs, what my wages will be, lifestyle changes.

    Thanks

    Michael

  12. Hi, I am thinking of migrating to Aus as my job has come up on the skills wanted list and I can make approx. 30-40% more then I make in the UK and get the lifestyle of living in Oz, win win.

I have spoken to a company that will assist me with the migration process and they have quoted me 4-5K for the whole migration process, my question is, does this sound like a reasonable value from experience of people who have already done it?
