    Hi

I wonder if anyone can help. I'm interested to know how detailed the inventory list was when you sent boxes of stuff to Australia visa Seven Seas, please.

For instance, with a box of clothes, does the list have to state exactly what items are in it or is box of ladies clothes enough?

    Thanks for any help Angela

I just put ladies clothes and that was good enough

  2. Finally made it to Australia.

It’s been a long and emotional journey but worth the wait.

We are on day 8 of our quarantine, very lucky with the hotel, balcony overlooking the Brisbane river. Food not the best but hey ho it’s only for 2 weeks and could do with losing weight.

Grandchildren FaceTimeing everyday, that’s what it’s all about.

Would like to thank everyone on pio for all the advice along the journey, it’s been over 5 years and couldn’t have done it without you all.

Stay in there and your turn will come.

Kimboslice, did you get back on your first flight with Qatar? I've just posted around flight reliability and keen to hear other people's experience with Qatar recently. Thanks!

    Hi

We did not travel in the end, 2 days before the flight my dad was tested positive for covid and unfortunately died a week later. We have a flight with emirates booked for March 5th.

    Hi

This statement from the Australian Dept of Health gives more details of requirements

    Passenger pre-departure testing

Passengers travelling to Australia must be tested for COVID-19 72 hours or less prior to departure, and display evidence of a negative test result. PCR testing is required. Exemptions from this requirement may be available in extenuating circumstances including use of rapid antigen testing in rare cases. Members of a travelling party who have been close contacts (e.g. household contacts) of a traveller who has a positive test result will also not be allowed to travel to Australia until all members of the party are no longer infectious.

It’s the pcr wording that’s confusing, is that a local free test or one you have to pay for. Either one you get a certificate

It looks like we might just need a rapid test for the time being - I too have been checking Qatar's website regularly and the UK is not in the list for the compulsory PCR test.  I'm not sure how long before the flight this test is needed or where to get one though.  We're flying from Manchester but not till April....

Key moments from the National Cabinet press conference after meeting on UK coronavirus strain - ABC News

    Tests before and after flights

From now, anyone from overseas coming back to Australia will have to have a rapid COVID test before they leave and prove they've returned a negative result.

If they test positive they — and any of their close contacts who are also planning on flying home — will be banned from boarding a flight back to Australia.

Is the rapid test just a normal one where you can go to your local test centre for free, or do we need one from a private health care body and pay for it.

    Hi,

I just wondered if anyone on PIO has a recent experience or knows of reliability flying with Qatar or Singapore to Adelaide from London as I can’t decide who to book with.  Logically, Singapore would be my usual choice, but we now live in a very different world where the same logic sadly doesn’t exist.

Any comments would be most welcome.

    Thanks.

    Hi David

We have just booked with qatar, leaving London 16.1.21 (fingers crossed), we have a 19.5 hour connection onto brisbane. I chose qatar as singapore didnt fly directly into brisbane, didnt really want to quarantine twice if rules changed. We have travelled with singapore airlines in the past and found them to be good, normally fly with emirates but couldnt get a flight until 5.3.21 with them. good luck.

Congrats - so granted an offshore 491? What occupation, please?

    Hi Paul

My son was granted a 491 visa as a skilled plumber (queensland) back in january, do you have any idea if they will extend the 5 year needed to earn the aquired amount per year as he will only have 3 years estimated to hit the target.

Has anybody flew into doha lately on there way to australia. qatar airways are flying to australia with aconnection time of 19 hours, was wondering if we can book a room in the current climate. A long time to wait around the airport.

That's exactly what I said, except that I wasn't sure of fhe correct terminology.  Their Initial Activation Date would have been well before Covid restrictions came into effect, so they could hardly use Covid as an excuse for failing to make initial entry by the due date.

    Hi Marisawright.

We are worried about the initial date entry aswell, have the goverment come out and said they are going to extend the dates due to covid.

We are supposed to arrive into australia by january 28th 2020, we have had our flights cancelled twice and they are now saying it probably wont be until feb or march but thats just an estimate.
