  1. Yes and the child would be an Australian citizen by birth. Apply for Medicare as soon as you arrive.

I'm sorry to ask, but is there official information about this anywhere? It would really calm us down to read something like this somewhere on the immi website...

  2. So... wife and I have just been granted our 189 visas last week, and we are starting to think she also just got pregnant (still to be confirmed, could be a false alarm). I'm worried now about what would be the consequences regarding our entry in Australia. Would she be allowed to enter Australia pregnant and have the baby there, even though she didn't inform herself to be pregnant in our visa application (since we didn't know about it when we applied)?

    Thanks

  3. It just keeps getting weirder. Today, I received another message in Skill Select saying I was being invited to apply for the visa - again. So basically what happened was: I was invited to apply for the visa; I applied for the visa; I received a message saying my invitation was about to expire; I received a message saying my invitation had expired; I received a new invitation. Throughout all this, my actual application in https://online.immi.gov.au/ola/app has stayed in the status "in progress". Has something like this happened to any of you guys? Should I be worried?

  4. Now in the UK,they are breaking in to steal the dog!!

Well, here in Brazil the criminals hijack your car with you still inside and tour a few ATMs so they can withdraw your bank accounts clean. Afterwards they either leave you alone in the middle of a favela, if your lucky, or just downright shoot you if you are not. Oh, not to mention a recent trend where some nice fellows were invading dentist's offices, tying the dentists to their chairs and setting them on fire. Who knows what they had against dentists, though. All in all, I think I'll be better off anywhere else.

  5. Yeah I have read that you have 60 days from when the EOI is offered to actually submit your application. I'm not sure what happens after the 60 days and if you can do another EOI.

We are still waiting on our EOI... it's been over two weeks now since we submitted... starting to think they don't want us.... :(

Don't worry, 2 weeks is still a very short time. Take a look at the following spreadsheet, it contains details about the timeline of finished and ongoing visa applications:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkrdCphtU8u-dGJQSWROUlZ0bThIaUF2VW9zdUZmMlE&usp=sharing#gid=277

Some people hear nothing back from Immigration until they get a direct grant a few months after applying.

    Be confident!

  6. Hey all,

in 25/11/2014 I created my EOI in Skill Select and in 05/12/2014 I received an invitation to apply for a 189 visa. I applied and paid for this visa on 03/01/2015. My EOI status in Skill Select is "SUBMITTED" and the status of my application on ImmiAccount is "In progress". However, on 04/02/2015 I received a correspondence in Skill Select saying that my invitation has expired and that I cannot lodge a visa application based on that invitation. Upon receiving this message I just shrugged it off and concluded that for some reason the Skill Select system is not aware that I have already lodged an application based on said invitation via the ImmiAccount system. However, today I received another e-mail from Skill Select saying that I had new correspondence. I went to Skill Select's website, but... there is no new correspondence there. This is starting to worry me, as I fear it may interfere in my application in some way...

Anyway, I just want to know if this has happened to you guys as well or if it's something I really should be worried about. I don't have a CO assigned to my case yet so if I want to talk to an authority about this it will probably take them a little more than a week to answer me. Thanks!

  7. She fails on the Balance of Family test as she has three children and only one is a resident of Australia.

    oic

By the way, I'm trying to find how much it would cost to bring a parent via the 143 visa (http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/143.aspx). I had heard it is very expensive, as it envolves paying a compensation for the costs an old person would weigh on society. However, the costs I found on this page ammount to about 3k AUD. Is that all an 143 visa would cost or is there an additional ammount?

  8. Am I astonishingly dumb or does the following look like the answer the OP is looking for?

"The Parent visa (subclass 103) lets parents live permanently in Australia if they have a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia. Most applicants must be sponsored by their child. The sponsor needs to have lived lawfully in Australia for the two years immediately before the application is lodged."

  9. I have a note in my application that says: "Correspondence for this application is currently being sent to the Primary Applicant at the following email address: <email>". Waiting for the email.

This doesn't necessarily means they sent you an email, it just means that any correspondence for your application will be sent to the mentioned e-mail.

  10. I'm a software developer, with no experience with or love for managerial roles. I work with both backend and frontend technologies, having more experience with Java than any other languages, but I can also work with C/C++, and I am always willing to learn new stuff (been reading about clojurescript these days, really cool stuff). I have ~ 7 years of experience, and I can brag about being the author of a small open source project, but that's about it. I have never spoken at a conference or done anything like that.

When my 189 visa comes through I'll be moving to Melbourne, so I would like to know what you guys think about my chances there. I am willing to move to Sydney if nothing comes through in Melbourne, but only if necessary.

  11. Does he HAVE to take IELTS? Can't it be PTE or TOEFL? As far as I know, immigration is now accepting these two tests instead of IELTS, at least for skilled immigration, and those tests are way better than IELTS. PTE, for instance, is all online and does not try to trick you at every turn as is the case with most IELTS' questions.

  12. Lodged my 189 application on Jan. 3rd and finished my health examinations and attached my police clearance on Jan. 16th. I finished filling out form 80 today but haven't attached it yet. Do I have to make a certified copy of it before scanning and uploading it to the online form?

My wife and I are keeping the fingers crossed here, same as you guys. Good luck to all!
