  1. We fly to Oz in August is it easy to get a medicare card once we have arrived hmmmmmmm

We fly to Oz in September, exciting! I keep hearing a lot of confusing info about the health care system over in Oz. Is medicare the basic cover that is free or does that have a monthly cost for it? I am confused what health cover, covers what exactly.

  2. Hey,

I have my 189 visa granted and have to be in Oz by November 2016. I am struggling to find social work jobs on-line, as it appears that 'social workers' are not really referred to as this in Oz.

    • Any ideas of where best to look for jobs and under what job title?
    • People have advised that I prepare a cv/resume in Australian style. Any idea what differs between a UK style cv and an Ozzie one?
    • What's the earliest you would say to apply for a job before emigrating, bearing in mind the waiting time for a police check?

Hopefully other social workers will be able to advise, based on their experiences?!

    Thanks, :cute:

  3. Hi all,

I received my EOI invite on 7th Sep 2015, submitted the payment & application on 12th Oct and received my visa grant on Xmas eve- best news ever!!!!!!!!!!!

CAPTAIN C, thank you so much for answering my queries along the way, you were priceless

Good luck to you all..................HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. HEY EVERYONE,

I applied for the 189 visa with my partner. I got invited from the EOI on 7th Sep 2015, submitted my application & paid on the 12th October and I got my visa granted on Xmas Eve......Best Xmas news ever!!!!!!!!!!! Seems they are able to keep within the predicted 12 week timeframe when it's straight forward.

HAPPY NEW YEAR & GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL

  5. It was a valid question, as I actually don't need police checks for Countries that I have lived in, unless for over 12mths....so I wondered whether I still needed to record it. Thankfully many more helpful people below have answered my query- THANK YOU to the community spirit on this forum!

No, no need to declare - they ask the questions for fun.

    It's all optional.

  6. Hi Everyone, anxiously awaiting their 189 visa grant. Can I just ask a simple question as I am close to submitting the remaining evidence. My de facto partner doesn't need to sit an IELTS test does he? Someone has told me different, but I am certain that I read that he can upload a British Passport and/or school certificates/degree to prove competent english.

    Thanks

  7. Hi everyone,

    I have just paid the visa fee, via Immi Account. I am now at the stage whereby you need to start uploading your evidence. My queries;

    1) Does the Case Officer get allocated any time from payment, or only when you have submitted all of your documents?

    2) Does anyone have any ideas how long you wait for a case officer to be allocated (approx)?

    Thanks

  8. Hi, As I'm sure your aware, the visa fee is expensive & non refundable if they do not grant you a visa, so I would strongly advise you to contact a Registered Migration agent to see what they think about this. Whilst they can only advise & cannot promise you entry into Oz.... at least it is advice from someone who is used to seeing lots of differing applications.

    Good luck!

  9. Hi all,

    On the Immi Account (17 page) document, it asks the questions;

Have any of the applicants lived in a country other than the primary applicant's usual country of residence?

I lived overseas As a holiday rep in 2004, for 9-10 months. Do I have to declare this? I don't know my address details of where we lived then & it asks for a full address.

    HELP??

  10. Hey, Thanks for the clarity. I understand now that you have to complete the 17 page document, then at the very end it will allow me to pay. It just asked a yes/no question about whether I have had a medical in the 12mths prior to applying for the visa, so I said no because I haven't yet had one.. It then wouldn't let me move forward from that question?! I'll log in now & try again....but I can't say I have had a medical when I haven't, as that is a lie.

    Q) Does a CO not get allocated until all your documents are uploaded, or could they be allocated any time from paying the visa fee?

    Q) I have a partner (de facto), not once has it asked for his details....will it ask for his name within the 17 pages somewhere or only when I have paid?

    Thanks again!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I presume you have received an Invitation to Apply via SkillSelect? Assuming you have, then as you say the SkillSelect account will make an Apply Now button available. When you click this it will take you to IMMI where you can either login with your existing IMMI account details (which is what I did) or you can create a new IMMI account. Then when you get into IMMI account you should see the link to Apply for the 189/190 Skilled Visa.

If you had to create a IMMI account then having done this, it might be worth going back to SkillSelect and using the Apply Now link again to follow the formal route, but then that time login with your existing IMMI account which you just created. Once you get to the stage of being able to start the VISA application in IMMI then from memory it was 17 pages (which is what you said). It's not until the end of that process, right at the end.. that you get to pay the visa application fee. Once you have done all that then the status of the application in the IMMI account applications view will change to 'Application Received'. Once this happens then you can click the link on the application to take you into the area for that application where you then upload documents and also if needs be can request your HAP ID and Medical Referral letter etc...

I'm not too sure what page you say you are at about Medicals etc... as I don't recall anything along those lines until the application was submitted and I was in the upload area and also able to request medical HAP ID and referral etc.

It's a few weeks since I went through all this and it was at midnight on the day of invitation, so my memory is a little hazy, but it was along the gist of above.

    Good luck.

  11. Hi everyone,

My deadline to apply for my 189 visa is 6th Nov 2015. People on this forum said that once I hit the (apply for visa button) from my Skills Select, it would allow me to pay and take me to the next stage.

I've done this tonight, which has only taken me to a page to set up an Immi account. It is a 17 page application, with no where in sight to pay, although I now have an Immi account.

    Q) Do you have to complete and upload all of your documents, before it allows you to pay?

    Q) It wouldn't let me move past a certain page because it wanted me to upload health info, but I've not had my medical yet. I was informed you can leave this until your CO requests tells you to get it.

    Thanks

    Hayley

  12. Hi everyone,

We are in the process of submitting our paperwork for our 189 visa application. We have to prove we have been in a relationship for 12mths. We've actually been in a relationship for 6 years, but we don't have a joint tenancy agreement/joint bills or bank accounts. ANY IDEAS?

I have asked the council tax to send us a bill, as we are obviously both down as living here in that respect. I've got a letter from my bank re: my credit card. I added my partner as a duplicate card holder years ago, so I am hoping that will be accepted.

I'm worried to pay all the money for the visa & them decline us re: lack of de facto proof. Has anyone had this issue before?

    Thanks

  13. Haha you're right I know, it isn't an exam but at times it sure feels like it. Have read through it all now & have completed it all apart from hols and education. I am so glad that I am a closet hoarder and keep stupid things like old passports. Oh well back to google for school addresses lol

    Hey,

I have to ask....did you get asked to submit the form 80?? I have just nearly fell off my chair seeing how much detail it wants & laughed when I read your initial thread about pulling your hair out! I'm the same...preparing it just in case they ask for it at some stage...but no way do I remember all my holidays in the last 10 years!!!

  14. Jambolina - where are you in the process ?? have you submitted an EOI as yet and received an invite ??

you have 60 days to lodge a visa application once invited.... You generally have 28 days to upload documents after you lodge your visa application. The 60 days is not a direct reference to the CO being allocated...

when end you get an invite email - you create a Immi account..... There should be a link on the email you received...

    Hi Pommie,

Yep I got my invite on 7th Sep & now have 60 days to do everything. I haven't pushed the button yet, as that's when I believe you pay and you have 28 days to upload documents.... & hopefully then it will let me register for an Immi account?! I'm just getting a few bits of evidence together.

I have the form 80 to start filling in just in case they ask for it, as it's HUGE! But what do you do if you don't have records of all the foreign holidays you have had in 10yrs, I mean who does?!! I certainly don't have that info...would this go against me?

Trying to ensure I have everything and then hopefully the CO will be satisfied & just grant the visa.

I've read you can apply for medicals and police checks whenever you want :-)

  15. Form 80 is here

You should complete the meds after you have applied to avoid delays. You can apply for PCC's now if you like, but beware that the meds and PCC are only valid for a year and the earlier of these will be one year to your latest entry date to activate your visa.

Thanks again...Final questions for today....I'm still not sure if form 80 HAS to be completed, but thank you.

    1) The form 80 asks about countries you have visited in the last 10 years. There's no way I have kept a log of everywhere I have been on holiday. Any advice what to do?

It sure is a huge form!

  16. 1. The application is usually allocated between 6-8 weeks.

You should complete upload of all documents within a month of paying the visa application charge (VAC)

The 60 days is when an invitation expires, you must pay the VAC within 60 days of the dates of your invitation.

    2. Form 80 is a supplementary form to support the character assessment (this is asked for on a lot of applications and it is recommended that you complete it as it is a very involved form)

    3. When you apply it will prompt you to open the immiaccount.

Immiaccount is where you will upload the documents.

    THANKS CAPTAIN C!!!!

    * Where do I locate form 80 & do I upload that too? Is there a way to check if it is required for my particular application, or is it a must for 189 visa applicants?

    * Should I complete my PCC & medicals within this 60 days too? Will that help speed things up when a CO is assigned, the fact that there already completed?

  17. Hey all, I applied on the 9th of september, uploaded all docs on the same day except for my birth cert, PCC, and health. Still didn't hear anything yet from anyone (no surprise there) but I'm considering filling and uploading form 80 (along with PCC, medical and my birth cert.) just in case even though I wasn't asked to. Is that a good idea??

    Hi everyone,

    yet again... Confusion has hit!!

    1) Is the CO allocated within the 60 days you have to submit your documents, or after you have submitted the application in full?

    2) What is Form 80 I keep seeing people talk about?

    3) How do I open an Immi Account?

    Thanks

  18. Hi all new to the forum I lodged my 189 visa on the 3rd of August and uploaded all documents the following day. Its so great to have found this thread so can keep an eye out for when the visas are coming through. Hate the waiting game but the day we all get that email saying visa granted will be worth it.

    Hey guys,

When uploading the documents can you do this over a few separate days, as & when I'm getting the evidence through? I know the deadline is 60 days, so I'm hoping so.....

  19. 1) Thanks Selina, that's really helpful. So I don't need to register for an Immi Account? It says you have one of these to upload documents...but you think I can just upload them after paying on the skills select log in?

    2) Does anyone know where I go to apply for medicals & police checks? I suppose getting them done prior to a CO being allocated will speed things up?!

Just realised Selina.... you also got invited to apply on 7th Sep, Congrats!! :-) Let's hope we get sorted soon!!

  20. Hi everyone,

HELP????????? I completed my EOI & received an invitation to apply for the 189 visa on 7th Sep :-) Now when I log into Skills Select there is just a blue button, which I assume once I hit that it will take me through to the page where you upload your documents?? I'm a wee bit confused!

    2) I have 60 days to upload the supporting documents. Does that mean I have to submit my police check and medicals within this time too? I haven't applied for them yet! Or can I wait till a CO is allocated and do it when they instruct me? If I don't upload everything required within the 60 days, will it reject me or will the CO ask for further evidence when he/she is allocated my application.

    3) Once I START uploading the required documents, do I pay the visa fee upfront? Soooooo scary paying all that money with no guarantees of getting in!

I would rly appreciate your help

    Thanks

Hey guys, thanks for starting this thread. I'm also in the same boat and lodged my application last night after receiving the all important invite yesterday afternoon. Application lodged and payment all made, and uploaded most of the important documents through IMMI account. Need to double check it before CO allocated in 3-4 weeks, but hopefully all is in order.

Good luck to all... keep us all posted on progression and progress with your applications.
