  1. Hello,

I've been advised by another forum member that the IT quotas have been filled for QLD 190 visa. Does anyone know if this is a temporary thing or not ie is the quota for the year and they wont re-open again this year. Or its just for a month or two and they will open again?

Just wondered if this has happened before or if anyone knows how it works.

    Many thanks

  2. When QLD notified us that they were about to suspend their system, this is what they said:

Please note that applicants can still lodge an EOI in the suspended period, however it will not be reviewed until processing has recommenced.

This suggests that EOIs lodged before the system is re-opened will be considered. Nevertheless, if you want to be 100% sure about this why not email them directly:

    Cinta.Grimaitre@tiq.qld.gov.au

That's brill, thanks for your help!

  3. Each State runs its own selection process based on their own time scale and priorities. I suggest that there is no disadvantage in leaving your current EOI and re-submitting it (if required) based on future advice from the Qld government.

Are you hoping to live and work in the Brisbane metro area? If you are looking beyond Brisbane, and you have eligible family who can sponsor you, then a subclass 489 is worth considering.

    Thanks Ric,

No, we're not necessarily looking to live and work in Brisbane as family are further north. I will look into 489 visa as don't know much about it to be honest.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

  4. Hi Shanners

Is Queensland your only option? You could consider expressing interest in nomination by any State and leaving your EOI active on the system.

All EOIs evaporate after 2 years (if they haven't resulted in a successful application) irrespective of whether they are active or suspended.

    Hi Ric,

Thanks for your reply. Yes QLD is our only option as we have family there. As you can see by my timeline we've been waiting for a while on 189 and when QLD opened up my category I was over the moon but was away so unable to lodge an EOI until recently. Then noticed they have suspended applications!

Anyway, my question is if they re-open, for example on 20th August, will they simply not consider anyone who have lodged between 1st Aug and 19th Aug? Or will they just work the backlog?

Should I suspend my current EOI and reinstate when they open again or just leave it....

    Thanks again

  5. Thanks for your reply,

Is it possible to suspend my EOI and then reinstate when/if they re-open? Just to save me having to complete it all again!

Will the skills select system reinstate it for the new date?

    Cheers

  6. Hello,

I lodged an EOI for QLD 190 visa yesterday and then noticed today that they have suspended applications until further notice.

Will my EOI just be put in a queue until it opens up again, or will I need to lodge another one once they re-open applications? how does it work?

    Many thanks

  7. Thanks very much for your reply Richard,

I am hoping to obtain a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer certification which is named on the ACS 'Vendor Certifications' in the Skills Assessment Guidelines for Applicants

The aim is to then be eligible for an additional 10 points under 'An award or qualification recognised by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation' as per border.gov.au

The thing that concerns me is this paragraph - from ACS skills assessment guidelines

The Skill Level Requirement Met Date is dependent on the completion of both the relevantqualification and relevant work experience. If your work experience is completed before the completion date of your qualification, the Skill LevelRequirement Met Date will be determined by the earliest date that both the relevant work experienceand the qualification are completed.

Its rather confusing as it implies they will move my skilled met date to when I complete the certification.

As I would have to send my certificate off to ACS for another assessment to claim the points I'm concerned this will in turn lose me my experience points and put me in a worse position points wise.

Your advice on this would be really appreciated.

    Many thanks

  8. Hello,

I currently have a total of 60 points and have lodged my EOI 4th June 2015 - Systems Analyst 261112

    Age - 25

    Eng - 20

Exp - 15 - obtained through RPL (total of 16+ years work experience - skilled met date of Jan 2007)

I see that certain vendor certifications are accepted by the ACS as comparable to graduate outcomes of anICT major at the AQF Diploma level.

    https://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets...Applicants.pdf

And that depending on whether the certificate was considered closely related or NOT related - a certain number of years' work experience would be deducted. (5 or 6 years)

    https://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets...teria-2014.pdf

    My question is;

If I were to obtain a vendor certification now (recognised by ACS) do I need the 5 or 6 years work experience required AFTER I obtain this certification?

Or would my previous work experience still be considered?

Basically, due to the current situation with my category, I am thinking about doing this to claim the additional qualification points.

I would really appreciated some advice if anyone can offer.

I'm starting to lose hope of getting an invitation with 60 points as cut off still 70.

    Many thanks

  9. Very difficult to say, they are currently a year behind on invitations for systems analysts. I would hazard a very loose guess on having another 4-6 month wait I'm afraid.

Can you get more points? Maybe retake PTE or IELTS?

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I have no way of increasing my points and already have max points for English...I guess I'll just to have to wait. Its very frustrating to say the least! I just hope I eventually get an invite....

  11. Hello,

We haven't received an invite yet and no idea when/if this will come as we one of the pro-rata categories on 65 at the moment and have 60 points...anyway - I'm keeping positive and preparing all documents in case it happens!

I had a question regarding the number of years left on your passport when you apply for your visa. My daughters passport expires March 2018 and I've read somewhere you need 2 years left?

Does anyone know if this is correct and know what happens if we apply and she has less than this?

    Thanks in advance

  12. Hey shanners... We're also hoping now for August/September invite (although would rather it be the former). Where in Brisbane are you hoping to head? I have family north of the city towards Redcliffe. We're hoping to end up on the Sunshine Coast ourselves - Not sure exactly where yet, but we like Brightwater, Budderim and places in that vicinity.

I hope all goes well for you and you get the invite in next round or soon after.

Hey! How strange, we have family on Sunshine coast (caloundra) and this would be our preference but not sure about the job market there (for my husband) so thinking Brisbane might be more likely initially and yes, through research I've done, the Redcliffe/bayside is my preference! Good luck with it all, I hate all this waiting!

  13. Hi there, that's fantastic news for you all.... We are also a family of 4 and wanting to move to Brisbane. EOI submitted on 7th May for a 189, so had been hoping for an invite on Monday in the first 2015 round in July but alas no....... Waiting now for August with everything crossed.

Hope your application goes smoothly from hereon. Look forward to reading the updates.

    Hey,

Not lodged in July but thought I'd say Hi as we're also a family of 4 hoping to move to Brisbane 2016! Hoping for an August/Sept invite! Good luck to all July applicants!

Look forward to reading all progress!!

  14. Hi all,

I wondered if someone could help me please. EOI submitted 4th June and I'm trying to get all paperwork ready for the invite!

I've read on forums that not everyone is asked for this form, is this correct?

I'm not sure if I should start doing this now or wait just in case I'm not asked for it...

    many thanks
