  1. Hi guys,

I'm from Singapore, I am 22 this year. I am currently serving the army, planning to study in a local university - SIT, Digipen to acquire a Bachelor In Computer Science and Game Design. I am due to complete my Bachelor in 2020.

I've went through the Visa list and found that in order to migrate to Australia - I would like to stay in Melbourne, I can only apply the Subclass 189 (Correct me if i'm wrong). I've been through the Skilled Occupations List and found that Software Engineer is within the list.

But just when I'm excited that I'm eligible to apply in the future, I did the points test. I believe i'm only able to acquire 55 points out of the required 60.

    1. Age - 25-32 (inclusive) : 30 Points

    2. English Language Ability - Proficient English - person has a score of 7 or more in the English Language Testing System (IELTS) in each of the four test components (This is just assumption) : 10 Points

    3. Education - At least a Bachelor degree, including a Bachelor degree with Honours or Masters, from an Australian educational institution or other degree of a recognised standard. (My local Bachelor should be recognised) : 15 Points

And... That's about it? I am unable to attain the 60 points. The only way I see is that i work at least 3 years in Singapore to attain an additional 5 points. By then, I would be 30 years old. Is that recommended?

Also, I intend to migrate together with my girlfriend, who is currently in her first year, studying in a similar Bachelor - Bachelor in Computer Science and Real-time Interactive Simulation from SIT, Digipen. If this information is relevant?

Any kind souls around to point me in the right direction?

    Hi jieqin,

You can try 190 visa which is state sponsored visa which will give you the extra 5 points. However, you must note that visa points system changes along the years. It used to be on 125 points and ielts become a requirements. Recent developments has widen the English test choices. Like what was mentioned by the other members and verystormy, it will change. Remember its better for you to experience Australia to know where you like before you think of migrating.

Cleared EOI and invite on 19/8/14 CO allocated & request for medical & pcc. Medical done on 7 Nov and all PCC done by 17 Nov14.

  2. Happy New Year!

4 years ago late on New Year's Eve I boarded my first flight to Australia.

It was one of the best decisions I have made.

New Year's Eve will always remind me of that new beginning, and the hope that New Year brings.

Best wishes to all intending migrants hoping to make their new home in Australia in 2015!

May 2015 bring you all the happiness you deserve, and may it be everything you are hoping for.

Yes, we hope to get our visa grant and move over in 2015.

  3. Hi, I see there is no such thread and decided to start it and wish all the people like myself and my wife. Have a happy 2015 new year. Let's have our new life in Oz in 2015.:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::ssign20::wink:

  4. I am not allowed to travel to oz during this period while waiting, normally how long it take when I submit everything after co allocated? I plan to go oz in February and want to book my flights early to enjoy lower fares. The wait is making me to count each day as it passes and looking at my email like every 4 hrs a day. I am worried and my agent say everything is fine.:arghh: He is on holiday now :ssign2:

  5. When you're granted your visa, your grant letter will tell you your Last Entry Date which will usually be 12 months from the date of your earliest medical or PCC. You must enter Australia by that date to validate your visa but you can enter anywhere in Australia and you don't need to stay in the country at that time. Some people come to Australia for a short validation trip and then return to their own country until they're ready to make the permanent move. You only need to contact your sponsoring state when you are actually in that state and ready to settle there. I don't know specifically when the state survey will start but it will be based on the date of your arrival in that state.

:huh:Thanks so much for your clarification.:smile::xmas16:

  6. :wink:ACCA is accounting qualification skill assessment should be through CPA Australia or ... Check immi.gov.au However, again you must see what occupation you are opting. Not sure that you need a degree on that. Anyway I have friends who gets a degree awarded from UK for the modules that he did. perhaps if really a degree is needed you just need to contact a university that tied up with ACCA to award you one. Maybe some fees. ACCA is higher then degree in terms of academic achievement. Good luck.
