  1. Called NSW PSE.

The person told me that they try to stick to the "first come first serve" principle. However, the upper management will have their own priorities in allocating cases.

He added that the 8 to 10 months timeline on Immi's site is insignificant. The normal wait times will be around 12 months.

  2. Hi all,

I got my 457 on 4/2/2015 and submitted my 186 application on 15/3/2017.

The period between those dates is 770 days. I have taken 24 days of unpaid leave.

    This sums to 770 - 24 = 746 (full time working days).

So with 746 working days (roughly 24.509 months), I can state that I have worked for two years and is eligible for this transition?

  3. Hi all,

Can anyone here clarify whether these events would qualify my friend for a 485 visa?

Bachelor of Business - 3 years of study (CRICOS: 156 weeks)

    [2014] - Studied overseas (1 year)

    [2015] - Studied overseas (1 year)

    [2016] - Studied in Australia (1 year)

At the end of her studies in july 2016, she went back to her home country and is planning enroll for Masters in Accounting in the year 2017 (feb).

Masters in Accounting - 1.5 years of study (CRICOS: 78 weeks)

However, she received a few exemptions and is only required to study for a year.

    Planned study dates: 2017

So here is my question. Can she COMBINE her study weeks using her bachelor of business degree and masters together eventhough she went back to her home country?

I assume her total academic years will be calculated as follows:

1 year of study in Australia [2016] = 52 Academic weeks (Bachelor)

1 year of study in Australia [2017] = 52 Academic weeks (Masters, after exemption)

    Total = 104 academic weeks

Futhermore, DIBP site states "To meet this requirement, you must have completed in no less than 16 calendar months".

Does this mean she qualifies all the criterias for this visa as her combined academic weeks exceeds 92 weeks and she will be completing her studies for more than 16 months (after combination of bachelor+masters)?

    Thanks.

  4. No. According to our MA, as no CO has been assigned, it is very difficult to get in contact with someone in Immi. I am hoping the delay is just due to a back-log and the Christmas period.

FYI, there won't be any Co any more. All applications will be assigned to teams. You will only get a Co if your application lacks in required documents.

  5. Myself and my partner lodged an application for a 457 visa on November 20th, 2014.

We flew home to Ireland for Christmas and as our 2nd 417 Working Holiday Visa was due to expire in January, we had Bridging A visas organised until our 457 visa was processed.

We were due to arrive in Melbourne on January 5th on our still valid 417 Working Holiday Visas but our flight on 4th January from Dublin to Abu Dhabi with Etihad was cancelled due to fog. Etihad booked us onto the next available flight arriving in Melbourne on 8th January but by this time our current WHV's would have expired and our

    Bridging visas ceased.

We were advised by our MA that our only option to re-enter Australia was to apply for Visitor visas. Upon arriving at the check-in desk at Dublin airport on January 6th to board our flight to we were told that Australian Immigration had advised that unfortunately, we could not travel to Australia on tourist visas without return flights. Needless to say we will be waiting in Ireland until our 457 is processed.

    Visitor Visa Application Lodged

    5th January 2015

We have since withdrawn our applications for visitor visas.

Our MA had advised us today that our application has still not been assigned to a CO. It's now 8 weeks and starting to worry..... Relieving to know that were not alone.

Did immi came back and ask you for more documents along the way?

  6. Your MA is correct in informing you that there is only one channel of communication with the 457 processing centre, which is via email. My MA had told me this also, as well as the fact that you are no longer assigned a case officer anymore but applications are processed in teams of case officers.

I have finally had some feedback from Immi! Unfortunately they did not answer any of the questions my MA asked them but simply asked for more information regarding my case, now in the final stage and MA says a week tops. I'm assuming that everyone else on this forum should follow suit quite soon as my case was complicated but from low risk country.

Hang in there guys its just a matter of time!

Hanging there. Btw, I got a question. Is it faster to get a visa grant if we applied through an agent compares to applying by ourselves?

  7. Hi, I'm hoping to hear something back early this week, but just one thought, my MA is Ernst & Young and has processed a number of 457 visas for the company I am to be employed for. Everything was lodged in early December, but the said they would let me know if I needed a medical, so not to organise one yet. From reading the threads, it appears that everyone else has submitted a medical. Officially my contract is due to start on the 27th Jan, but as the visa is being dealt with by their regular MA, they are happy to hold the job open for me. Problem is the site that I am opening opens beginning of feb, so ideally wanted to be flying on the 23rd. Packed everything, thrown 3/4 of my clothes in the bin and as I have family that live all over the UK, am having a leaving party on the 17th Jan, so could be interesting if I don't get the visa! Can anyone give guidance on why visa's are turned down, if at all? My Police Cert etc is all clear so can't see any reason for it be being but just getting a little nervous now :)

I assume you are from a low risk country. Hence, you do not need to submit your medicals. Most visas are turned down because most some of them submitted an incomplete application(missing documents) or they did not provide sufficient documents of their dependants.

If one do not have any criminal record, I think he/she will be fine. My 2 cents.

I am also still waiting for a reply from IMMI. Submitted almost a month already.

  8. My nomination had been approved 3 weeks ago but my application is still "In Progress"

I called Immi and the guy said, there will be no CO allocated if your application fulfil the requirements. They will just tick you off.

Unless you have some missing documents, they will contact you. They now work in teams not individuals.
