  1. Thanks for sharing @Jimmyt2010. It gave me hope. Really stressed out. Any additional tips?

I think just remain positive. Do speak vetassess and ask why they refused and what you could do to get a positive assessment, they are very helpful. Also a statutory declaration with as much detail as possible will go a long way. ( Explain in depth from getting your qualifications to pre and post employment and also daily activities at work etc etc.) also lots of letters from previous employers, managers, team leaders outlining you daily activities and what you undertook. (It's annoying to ask them, but they need to do it).

Remain positive, where's there a will there is a way.

  2. Yes, that's very strange. If she's an Australian and you're not married or de facto, she shouldn't have been mentioned on your 189 application at all so I'm surprised you would need to provide ANY relationship evidence. Have you perhaps included her as a non-migrating dependent or something?

    Thanks for the reply.

Yeah its a bit odd. I can't honestly remember if I put her details on. I defiantly put her details on form 80. So maybe that's where they got it from. Do you think a joint bank statement is enough.? If not, and they ask for more info, I'll send joint travel trips, invitations etc etc.

  3. Hi there, sounds like you got loads of evidence there.

My CO has also asked for evidence of a defacto relationship. My gf is Austalian and I'm British. She's in auz and I'm in the uk waiting for the 189 to come through. It's strange how they have asked for evidence as she's my gf and we have not lived together. Anyways, I've submitted her passport page showing her citizenship and also we have a joint bank account dating back from when I used to live there, so have submitted statements etc ....as well.

I hope this is enough info for them? What do you think?

  4. Hi there. I got a negative assessment too which is pretty annoying. I actually rang my case officer at vetassess. She advised me on other information I could present, also she advised me on a slightly different occupation/skills category. This worked and I got a positive assessment.

I think it is worth emailing or ringing them to get their advice on your particular case. Hopefully they will give you some useful information.

    Good luck.

  5. Finally got a case officer, they're asking for evidence of a relationship to my aussie gf. Although she's in auz and I'm in the uk. Fortunately we have a joint bank account from when I was living there before. Hopefully the statements are enough. Also got asked to provide another Form 80 (apparently a newer version). And also undergo another health check. I did a health check but that was almost a year ago so probably expired.

But it's good to know they're finally look at it, the waiting is agonising for me and the GF.

    Good luck to everyone waiting.
