i was informed that they dont take debit cards in the Uk, so i used a pre paid credit card and had to pay the extra.
We paid by UK debit card, although the invoice still stated 'credit card surcharge'. Was around 1% of the fee.

What tourist visa did you get? Can you fly to New Zealand and return to Australia after a few days if you want too?
Just a standard eVisitor (subclass 651, free via Immi). Valid for a year and you can enter Aus multiple times and stay for up to 3 months, so fine to have a trip to NZ then return, as long as your total stay in Aus doesn't exceed the 3 months.

Hi all
I'm so glad I've found this page! I want to get my application lodged before July because the cost will increase. I'll be applying in the UK and I've just received my police checks (UK & Australian) in the post and I have the required documents for the application. I want to know if it's worth getting my medicals done now or wait till I've been appointed a CO?
Also, I want to know if I lodge the application online do I just scan the documents or will I have to post them to the Australian High Commission in London?
Furthermore, I'm considering lodging the application and then applying for a tourist visa that will allow me to visit Australia. Has anyone applied for the partner visa and then visited Australia? It would be great if I could receive tips/feedback and general information from anyone who has experience.
Thanks
James
Probably best to wait before getting the medical done - they usually ask for it around the 6 month mark. Applying on line is easy, you just scan docs in, no need to post off the originals anywhere. Going over on a tourist visa while waiting for the partner visa to be granted is fine - I did exactly that, no problems at all Good luck

Congratulations!! Hopefully not long for us now then
Hopefully not, I (ML) was the one who couldn't check the emails each day, i left it up to BC. haha. Just don't loose faith. Its a long road, but it makes it ever more sweeter when you get it.

So you must be almost there then bcml? Quick question...... Do u get a list of places where u must have yr medical done and can u tell me what they do and cost please, was told £200/300 is that about right? Many thanks
It was granted today Jen The list of places for the medical is on the Immi website, just search for 'Immigration Panel Physicians', select UK, then select your region. When my time arrived I simply called the one nearest to me to make an appointment, and they link into your Immi account to so it's really quite straightforward Cost was £290.

Hi there.
I've seen some other responses but just to let you know my experience: visa submitted online 24th July 2014, auto email received the same day confirming receipt. Email from the CO received 31st July 2014 containing 4 attachments: 1. Intro letter from the CO confirming who she was, that she would be our CO, and dept contact details, 2. an FAQ, 3. a copy of their Client Charter (basically like their privacy policy etc.), and finally 4. confirmation that no further documents were required but that I should book my medical and police check for on or after 24th Jan 2015 (ie 6 months).
The emails from the CO came from a 'Family Migration London' email address, so a different one to the auto generated emails. Hope this helps & good luck

Just the way to start the week. VISA GRANTED. 9 months 28 days. Case officer: VF. Got the 309 visa, although we qualify for the provisional 100 visa as we have been living together for over 3 years now, they said because date of application was before, we got the 309.
But who cares, WE GOT IT, only means we have to wait another year and 2 months. Whoop whoop. So happy.
To all those waiting, good luck and although the wait is long, its worth it in the end.

Hi All,
Myself and my Partner applied for our Visa 25/07/14. If things keep moving how they are with people getting approved and stuff, we should be getting ours in the next few days. Not getting our hopes up tho, u know how they like to take their time.
Anyways once we hear something, when we hear something I will be sure to post and let you know months/days etc.
Fingers crossed for all of you waiting.
