    Hi

I'm in the same boat, applied onshore for a 190 although still awaiting assignment of CO but here currently on a 457 - I have a new job offer which I'm really keen to take as the job I have now is not what I expected (the employer withheld some information about the role to make it more appealing and now I'm trapped). I work in an industry where everyone knows everyone else so I'm trying to keep my head down and do a good job but it is hard when I feel so desperate to leave. Reading about your case has helped me to focus on how it will feel when the visa comes through! Congratulations :-)

I feel for you and I completely understand. It's so hard being trapped working in a place that makes you miserable....I had the same scenario - my employer promised me the world and delivered little. It's been so frustrating not being to take up other job offers...for nearly 8 months while I waited and waited. It's such a fantastic feeling.

When did you apply for the 190?

Hold on in there, you can get through this, the feeling of getting the visa grant - and the freedom it represents is wonderful.

A good friend of mine told me "everyone has a visa story to tell....and the ordeal we go through makes it taste sweeter when we finally get it". Really hope you hear something very soon ??

I saw clinical psychologist and thought it must be Donna and it is. Congrats, Donna.

Yes, it's true.....the good news finally came through ????....we got our visa grant yesterday (4th Sept) and immediately hit the town to celebrate. It was champagne all round ???. ???.

We applied for our visa (onshore) on 4th Feb. It's been a gruelling wait. I was on an employee sponsored visa  - and really really hated my job, and my employer, but was unable to leave because I could not work for anyone else without the 190 visa. The 'trapped' feeling has been so tough - Now I am free ??. The wait is sooooo difficult, at times I think I've almost required my own Clinical Psychologist to get me through ??

I reallly hope others hear about their via's really soon. Things finally seem to be moving at DIBP which is wonderful. Xx

  3. Hey Yikes

I was just looking and noticed that we are just a few lines apart from each other - sitting and waiting as 'lonely yellow columns' amidst a sea of 'green columns'. I'm Donna M.....a couple of rows up. ???

    The wait continues.....

Im currently loving Melboirne.....but hating being totally stuck in a rotten/rubbish job with a rotten/rubbish sponsoring employer waiting to be set free to fully enjoy being here. Pleeeaaasseee hurry up 190 visa.

How are you bearing up with the waiting, waiting and more waiting?

    ???

  4. Those places are all lovely. Right by the ocean and along a train line to the city.

The closer to the city the more expensive. The closer to the Penninsual - prices drop a little. Check out real estate.com.au for rentals to get an idea of prices. Rentals here are charged weekly rather than monthly.

The suburbs here are different - things really do close at like 10pm and it's super quiet then. Mordialloc is a lovely place with bars and restaurants. We live quite near Mordialloc. We are currently renting - its soooooo expensive to buy here.  The tricky thing is that is sooo lovely living here with s beach and cafe culture lifestyle that I'm now really struggling to move to an affordable place to buy a house.

I'm jealous that you're there already! Lol.  Whereabouts do you live? How long have you been in Melbourne? I'm so looking forward to arriving... :)

We are in the Bayside area of Melbs. SE suburbs. It's fabulous here. We've been here for 18 months now on a 457!visa (temporary/employer sponsored) but moving to permenant residency....well at least trying too ???

Where do you think you will be moving to?

  6. I'm happier too being amongst others who are waiting and waiting......although wish we would all hear super soon....I was convinced our application had gotten lost in the system.

Interestingly, our first correspondence from a Case Officer a few weeks ago (asking us for even more info.....) arrived in my email account at 5:10pm on a Friday - so it can literally be any time.

Good luck all ? - hope we hear something tomorrow ?

Oh dear. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The borders website now says 75% of 190 apps processed within 7 months and 90% processed within 13 months... :arghh:https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/190-

Since I lodged in Feb it's gone from 3 months to 4 months to 5 months back to 4 months and now 7 months - there are no words!

I've been looking into the financial year/ migration plan info and am hoping and praying that this is the reason for the slow down and that we'll all be receiving our much wanted grants in July/ August.

Omg. The processing times just keep going up and up.

    So frustrating.

I've been waiting since early Feb and have had no contact from a CO at all. I'm convinced they've lost our application ??

Let's all hope that the delay is indeed linked to end of year. Stuff. A Visa Agent in a forum I'm in said there are quotas for skilled visas & quotas for specific occupations. So at this time of year, there are likely to be many more visas granted. Things should start moving again in July.......she said ??

  9. Oh no.....increased waiting times again.

We lodged our visa application, all docs included (medicals and police checks too) in early Feb.

Havent heard anything from a case officer.....just waiting and waiting.

Now we could be waiting for months longer ????

Any other frustrated folks out there waiting to hear some good visa news?

I'm getting quite worried as no news at all in over 4 months. I rang DIBP general helpline and found out that we've apparently  been allocated to the Brisbane Team. It not a single bit of correspondence at all.

15 weeks so far since the visa application date...

I'm in a similar position......we lodged our 190 visa application, with all docs except medicals, 14 weeks ago.

Still no case officer assigned.  We haven't heard a thing.

We had our medicals done on Monday and they are now cleared and showing in our immi account now. We're really hoping this speeds things up and we get a case officer soon.

We are applying onshore- currently living and working in a Melbourne on a 457 employer sponsored visa.

Hope you, and we, hear something super duper soon. Waiting and waiting is sooooooo difficult.

  11. Hi peeps

Thought I'd jump in on this thread.....

I'm currently awaiting allocation of a Case Officer.

We lodged the 190 visa application on 5 Feb. We are applying onshore, currently living and working in Melbourne on a 457 (employer sponsored visa). I'm super keen to get permenant residency asap.

Feels like we've been waiting a long time (nearly 12 weeks) and still no case officer. I suppose there have been a few public holidays here too which may slow things down at DIBP.

    Really hoping to hear soon.

Is anyone in a similar position in terms of waiting times?

    Best wishes

    Donna

  12. Hi everyone

So my fiancé and I in the same boat as many others - waiting for the 457. Thought I'd join the thread to be amongst others who understand this process while we wait.

Our application was lodged by a MA (TSS, Vic) on 19 November which feels sooooooo long ago when I'm checking my emails for new in a daily basis ?. We're planning to move to the Mornington Penninsula area in Victoria. My employer is getting registered as a 467 a.ongside my application for the visa and I wonder if this, along with Christmas, is part of the delay? Just wish it would come through. We have sold up, left jobs and feel somewhat in limbo while we wait.

Weve got tourist visas as a back-up plan (to allow us to potentiallywait in Austrlaia for the 457 visa) but having read recent threads about issues entering Australia on a tourist visa with a 1-way flight we don't think this is such a good back up plan anymore.

    So the waiting continues......

Really hope visa news is coming through for others.

  13. Hi mdonna1975,

    is he a qualified psychotherapist?

    Hi there

Yes. He is a qualified Systemic Psychotherapist (MSc Level) and having looked a bit more into it, I'm wondering if it's possible for him to apply under the Psychotherapists section on the skills list.

    Cheers

    Donna

  14. Hi guys

    Thanks for reading :-)

So my partner and I are in the beginning phases of looking into living in Oz.

I have the offer of a job and my profession is in the skills list.

My partner is a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (not on the skills list)

His core profession is a social worker - but he has not actually worked in a social work role, he worked as a mental health practitioner (generic role, NHS) and then trained up as a family therapist.

We are wondering about how getting a visa will work for him?

Anyone been in a similar position?

Any family therapists that have moved to Oz?

many thanks for any advice or guidance

    Donna
