I got my rsms approved 10 dec 2015, i am giving my test this february. Do i have to wait till 10 dec 2017 to give cermony ?? Or can it be happened before also ? As there is a 2 year condition on RSMS

Ceremony will be done within 6 months of approval. You dnt need to wait for a year. Rsms has no impact on citizenship ceremony. And there is no condition to work for 2 year actually its obligation.

That is not the case.once you get your PR.thats it.no need to worry.you and your kids can apply citizenship next year as usual.

Received my letter for the ceremony this morning. woohoo!

My updated timeline is:

 

Applied: 27/04/16

Council: Townsville

Test date: 13/07/16

Approval date: 15/07/16

Ceremony: 24/11/16 (letter received today on the 9/11 dated 4/11)

 

everyone else who's still waiting hang in there. it's a long and a frustrating road that tests your patience lol but you'all get there in the end. I'll post once my ceremony is over and also once I receive my passport. :-)

Hi Everyone,

I have applied citizenship on 19 august 2016, Got invited for citizenship test for 4 oct 2016 in canberra. Its been 5 weeks now, since I've had passed my test. I am still waiting for my approval letter. Two of my friends received the approval letter in less than two weeks. My online status is still same ''application received''. No updates what so ever. I called the department and they advised me its still in processing and May take up to 8 weeks?? ITS been 80 days already since i lodged my application. As per the immigration website timeframe, which is 80 calendar days, they should have process it by now. Does anyone had any delays getting their approval letter. what should be the circumstances. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

They can take more than a year too. One of my friend is waiting since dec last year.The best advice is to sit and watch.they will take their time.dnt worry u ll get urs soon.

i mean to say if we dont have Citizenship certificate , we can not apply for passport and there wont be any official document with us .

Its not mandatory to apply for passport. We jus need it to travel across the border.

You need to attend the Ceremony. If you dont have citizenship certificate you are not a citizen.

RIGHT you need to attend ceremony to become aus citizen.

WRONG once you attend the ceremony you are aus citizen even if they dnt give you the certificate.

Sometimes they post it to you later.

Once the test is completed are you then classed as a citizen or do you have to attend the ceremony for swearing in?

Hi , May I ask how much time it took to complete the process including test. I know the test is 45 minutes but how long it takes to verify the documents. My appointment is at 2pm at Parramatta but wondering whether it will finish by 3pm considering 30 minutes for test.

Ha ha it takes only 2 min for the test. Not much time to verify documents. But sometimes we needs to wait for our turn.

Any how i have attached my current passport.

They did copy mine. But i think u should not have any problem.keep the birth certificate ready.they can check when did you enter aus.

In the application I answered -"No" for the- Do have evidence for first arrival.

 

But i have attached a copy of my current passport for evidence of citizenship.

You can provide with the stamp on the passport of ur first arrival

Do you think if we are safe after getting the approval letter, normally a week after the test?

Generally speaking i have no idea about it.thts why see a migration agent.spending 100-200$ can save our life.or try to negotiate with the employer until the ceremony

Thanks mate. i am seeking counsel about at the moment. My employer gave the condition that if I resign, they will wait another 2 months to notify the immigration. I applied my citizenship at 12nd August. Is it enough time to get the whole process done? I wonder when someone is officially Australian citizen? Is it after the test? or is it after getting the certificate at the ceremony? If that is the case, maybe 2 months is not enough.

Once you took the pledge ,you will be australian citizen.and it only happens in citizenship ceremony. It usually takes around 3-4 months.but mostly depends on particular council. Mine took 2 months after the test. But some people waited for 6 months.

australian drivers lic

marriage certificate

- my question is that i wasnt able to provide utility bills for my prood of address but my Australian drivers license has my address on it, is that sufficient enough? Thank you

Thanks mate. My employer told me that letting Immigration know about my termination is their legal obligation. They are going to do that. One thing I get from your post is the citizenship application is based on the time you stayed in this country, not about your job or whatever you do for a living. i hope i just have enough time for the citizenship going through to the end before they finalize my 187 visa situation. Do you think if they will stop/delay the citizenship application process if they got the inform the about my job termination, which affects my 187 visa.

Actually you need a professional advice from a migration lawyer. And yes if the immigration get to know that you intentionally terminate your job. It can affect your citizenship application.once citizenship application has been approved,then i think you dnt have any problem.
