  1. I would actually recommend that you don't do the police checks or the medicals until you are way further down the application. Possibly at the stage where you have received your invite uploaded your docs and awaiting for a CO to be assigned go you. This way your not wasting money for either one of them. It all adds up and the application is already costly.

  2. Oh - and here's some basic stats incase relevant. He is 36, UK passport holder, NVQ3 carpenter & joiner, 18+ years self employed as a carpenter & joiner. No medical illness history. No Aus relatives.

Will he need to do the english test?

Also, skills testing...please tell me more!! Thank you, and as you can see, we are complete novices!

    Hi,

I'm a Carpenter and Joiner by trade and done the application myself. Honestly it's not a difficult process at all. You have to do all the work yourself. The agent will just ask you for a list of documents and they will process the application for you. As for the agent stating it will be done in 3 month... I doubt that very much as it generally takes 9-12 weeks for TRA to access your qualifications. Once you pass you have to wait for the Invite to be sent and the. You have a month to upload all your documents. It took 9 months for our application from start to finish and we had no hiccups. As for the English test your husband will have to do the test Unfortunetly as he loses points for age. He will only need to sit the General test but can sit it once he has submitted his documents for assessing.

Inbox me if you need help or want a list of what documents you require.

  3. This is very interesting, as if this is the case (and you can claim the ten points) my hubby doesn't need to sit the IELTS test which will absolutely mean the world to him - he is dreading that bit!!! My fingers are crossed that this is the case x x x x

Hi, it is the case. Once you get your skills assessed you get 10 points for your AQF. I did and got 60 points in total without doing an IELTS. Was so relieved when I got the invite. Good luck to your hubby and hope he gets his invite soon.

  4. Sounds like a good plan. Is it right that UK-bought TVs don't work in Oz due to different format, so aren't worth bringing and getting a converter?

Why Morton? (for me Hibs was the first Scottish game I was brought to).

Random other questions (for you or anyone), is it possible/wise to open an oz bank acct before arriving.

And how does it take between signing a lease on a rental property and moving in. We'll want to look/find places on arrival, but can't move in until container full of stuff arrives. (Any recommendations/advice on removals and companies to use/avoid appreciated as well)

Hi, yes you can open an oz account before you arrive in Australia but you can only collect your cards in Australia. This shouldn't take too long to sort out

  5. Hi,

yea ear you can set up your own ImmiAccount but as you have paid the agent you can get them to do it. Either way it's not difficult. They can only upload the documents which they will request from you so yea you can set the account up yourself and upload everything.

  6. Hi guys I havebeen submitted all therequesteddocuments around 60 days ago but still no replay. Amd also I submitted my application 30th may.

do youguys have any idea what's happening over there?

Please guys put your opinion or if youguys know something.

    thanks.

    Hi,

try giving them a call. We did that and visas were granted the next day

  7. Thought would like to share with all on the recent reply from ACT. I sent an email requesting to be released and few days later this is the reply to me:

"The ACT will consider a request to formally release a migrant from their nomination obligations if they can demonstrate that they have made a genuine effort to settle in Canberra and secure employment. As you have not made a genuine effort, you will not be formally released. As the obligation is only a moral obligation and not a visa condition if you choose to not to meet your signed obligations, that is your decision."

Hmmm....so what does this mean? Stay on or find job otherstate?

    Any feedback highly appreciated. Thanks.

Just seems like a cruel response back from them. How long have you stayed in Canberra?

  8. Hello everyone

I'd love to know if there is anyone in the same boat as me and my family!

We lodged out 190 application on the 11th June 2014.

Received our CO on 18th August, we were instructed to do our meds, police checks and form 80.

Completed all and had them in by 5th September. Since then we've heard nothing. When we log in to our online account, it says 'in progress' last updated 18th August.

It's now November and we're still waiting. Looking at all the other threads it seems like everyone else has been seen too.

Does anyone know of any backlogs or others still waiting? If love to hear your comments.

    Thanks

Hi, the waiting is extremely frustrating. We received an email from our CO asking for wife's medical. This was already done but client ID was not matching the application so called the office from the number they provided. Next day the visa was granted. Try giving them a call just so that they can advise what the hold up is. Never know you might be lucky and get grant the next day. Fingers crossed

  9. Hi,

We bought a table with 6 chairs few years ago and as it had scratches we decided to claim it under insurance. They told u to get a replacement one. Just wondering if we leave it packed will be get charged tax. It's a glass table so don't want to get it damaged. I have the old recipts as proof of purchase a few years ago. Not sure if they will accept this

  10. Hi, this means that you have accepted the invite and therefore the EOI has now been ceased. You now need to upload all your documents in ImmiAccount and have 60 days to do this. Advisable to upload as soon as you can rather than wait closer to 60 days.

  11. hi all

just waiting for a c/o at the moment and have filled out and uploaded my 180 form just in case.

For anyone who is looking for an visa agent DO NOT GO WITH GLOBAL VISAS currently called LAUNCH IMMIGRATION massive waste of my time and money and a con

    Good luck

    vetassess/21/6/13 ielts 10/5/14 visa invitiaion 23/9/14 PCC 24/9/14 medical 3/10/14 lodged 4/10/14 form 80 uploaded 8/11/14 c/o ?

I totally agree with not going with Global Visa's. They took our money and then changed company names. Said we had to pay them half of what we already paid to reopen our case. Did the application myself and now awIting grant of visa

  12. Easy? Its the paperwork side worried to get it wrong as hes dyslexic

My wife did nearly all my paperwork as I'm too busy at work and she looked into the whole process herself. If your struggling where to start off, I'll go through my file and send you a list of what you can start collating to start the ball rolling.

  13. Def want to save money if we can! Not cheap when theres 4 kids visa's too. It is getting everythibg in the correct order etc

Has your hubby got any certificates in his trade. These will really help alongside with his experience. Also is he employed or self employed? You will need to collect all the documents for his skills to be assessed. once you send the documents off to TRA to be assessed he can work on the IELTS and try and get as higher mark as possible (try aiming for 7+. 6 is the pass mark but it doesn't give you any points). Once you have passed the IELTS and the skills assessment you will be able to lodge your EOI. This is your initial starting point. Hope this helps
