hi I was on a 457 and changed jobs twice, the new sponsor just takes over the responsibilities of the visa. It does however set your PR clock back to 0 so you have to then do 2 years with the new employer to be eligible for PR
Hi the laurakate,
Thanks for your reply. We already have our PR :-)
-
You would be able to change employers now. There is no condition attached to your 186 requiring you to stay with the sponsoring employer at all after the visa is granted. If someone were to leave immediately after the grant and the employer jumped up and down to DIBP, it could possibly be seen that the application wasn't made in good faith but after 3 or 4 months, it wouldn't do them any good to complain. Do the right thing with your current employer by giving them reasonable notice but that's just because it's the decent thing to do.
Thank you Ozmaniac.
Yes, my hubby will definitely give them ample notice so that they have enough time to recruit and train as he is still very grateful to them for giving us the opportunity to move here.
Thanks again for replying :-)

Hello Everyone,
Just a quick one...
We were granted our PR from a 457 in October last year. My husband has been offered another job, however, we are unsure if he can change employers before the '2 year period'.
I have now been on hold with DIBP for 78 minutes, so I thought I may get an answer sooner if I post here LOL!
Does anyone know if the '2 year period' only applies to RSMS 187 or both?
Thanks in advance :-)

Hi guys

My TIMELINE:
Visa Type: ENS 186 Direct Stream
Nomination lodged: 23/05/2014
Visa application: 18/06/2014 ( with MA)
Nomination Granted: 5/9/2014
22/9/14: CO ask for more information
25/9/14: Medical check
30/09/14: CO received the medical result
Apparently my CO is in Team 4 Victoria.
All the docs are in.
i m hoping to hear something this week
Hey,
I don't think your visa is too far off mate. Mine was processed in VIC and they requested extra info too. Once they received this, it took about 2 weeks till approval.
If you have a CO, then at least you know that your application is being looked at.
Good luck :-)
-
By the looks of it, it seems that visa's are being approved around the 14 week mark excatly to the day! I guess thats a good enough guideline for me.
Yup, the longest wait of my life, I can tell you that much! Hang in there, not much longer now :-)

Still no news.
Waiting...
-
mine was just under 6 week.. Longer than most
Jeepers! That must have felt like an eternity!
We have got so much riding on getting PR, life seems so stagnant at the moment as we can't make any serious decisions... yet.
-
Hi guys, quick question for those lucky ones who already have their PR!
How long on average did it take from nomination approval to visa grant?
El x
-
We hand our nomination submitted last week of June
Application submitted 15th July
Medicals 25 July
Medicals finalized 1 week of Aug
Not a peep from immi
From what I have read, they seem to be approving around the 2-3 month mark. Fingers crossed for both out applications!
-
What's your timeline like?
-
Looks like you have a CO working on your application if your getting requests it's a good thing
Hi Stevevw975,
Thank you for replying :-)
I am just hoping and praying that we get our visa. The suspense is so stressful!
-
Oh I forgot that when my hubby's employer sent the reply, the automated response said that they are currently working on applications made in June 2014.
-
Hi All,
Quick timeline update:
Employer Nomination 21 May 2014
Medicals complete 10 June 2014
Visa Application 19 June 2014 (with medicals, Form 80 and all other supporting info)
CO Requests further information from employer 29 August 2014
Information send to CO 08 September 2014
Does anyone know if requesting further info at the nomination stage is common practise? They require info like job title, salary, job description and skills required.
Should I be worried because so many 186'ers have had no requests for more information? EEK!

Hi There,
I have read a similar post about this somewhere, and it seems like there is a technical glitch at present.
Perhaps contact DIBP direct to query further. Sorry I couldn't help more.
-
Hi Angelica30,
It is entirely up to you when you choose to lodge.
Some people have waited for the nomination approval, and some have lodged their application at more or less the same that the nomination was lodged. I did not wait and lodged my application shortly after the nomination. This was end May/ mid June 2014 so I have got a bit to go before I hear anything back.
I hope this helps you.
Good luck :-)
-
Hello Everyone,
Congrats to those who have got your visa!
We are still waiting... patiently...
Employer Nomination - 22/05/14
Medicals Done - 10/06/14
Application Lodged - 19/06/14
As per acknowledgement letter, application processing centre in NSW.
No contact yet, but will update when I hear anything.

Hi everyone, quick question, we had our medicals last week, family of 5, 4 have been uploaded to the immi site but my sons is still not there don't suppose anyone knows why??? I'm stressing a little wandering if something sinister was on his x ray, have tried ringing the hospital where we had the medicals all day but no answer, had this happened to anyone else??
Hi emmiejay,
Yes, the same thing happened to me. We had our medicals done and all bar my son's had been uploaded.
I called the surgery, and the doctor advised that there was a glitch of some sort and that he was unable to tick a box. He contacted Medibank Health Solutions and it was sorted the same day.
Hope that helps.

Hmm.. well as we have completed the form 80 linked to from the email our Case Officer sent, I'm not doing the version asking for 30 years travel/address history unless specifically asked! I have googled and can't actually find this form though - the one asking for 30 years history whether asylum seeker or not...
So our current timeline looks like:
22 March 2014 186 visa application lodged (nomination had been lodged a couple of days before)
2 June 2014 CO requests documentation
13 June attended medicals - both finalised by 19 June
17 June nomination approved
Now just awaiting both UK police checks, and hubby's AFP check is in the post to us, mine was uploaded weeks ago cos I got in before the backlog kicked in
We have til Monday 30 June to get all documents uploaded.
Hey Paisleylass,
We've now lodged and waiting...
I've also done the Form 80 with 10 years, I've checked and checked and can't even find a version with the 30 years!
Did you manage to get all your documents uploaded on time?
Our UK police checks took just 8 days from the time we posted it till we got it back!

Apologies if this should be in another section, but I am wondering if someone can answer a question for me.
We have just landed in Sydney ( must say loving the decision so far) and my husband and I are over on a 457 visa. My question is what form do we fill in online for a tax number? I know we need to make sure that we are down as residents for tax purposes and don't want to get put down as temporary.
Is is it the 'Australian resident' form or is it the 'permanent migrant/temporary worker form' we need it fill in.
Many thanks, lindsay
Hi Lindsay,
You are an Australian resident for tax purposes when on a 457. I called them up a few years back with the same question and that's what I was told.
Hope that helps
-
Great stuff, thanks! And with that, the monster is finished!
Best of luck to you too, it's an anxious time hey? Have you had the medicals yet? I did a very detailed account of how ours went in Brisbane if it's any help!
Thank you :-)
It's so nerve wrecking! If this is just the application, I'm not looking forward to the wait for a decision.
Yup, we've done our medicals already so fingers crossed we have a positive outcome.
-
Australia - it's where you live.
Thanks Quinkla,
It's what we thought, but I started second guessing myself at the last minute :-)

Hi,
Just finishing off my application and just needed confirmation on the above.
As we have been in AU for over 2 years, is this our usual residence or is it the UK?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks :-)
ENS 186 (Transition Stream) - How long before I can change employer?

Hi Beck,
Thanks for replying.
Huuby's present company did not pay for the PR visa. It cost us over $10K for our family and we paid for it.
I know that he did not sign any agreement pertaining to how long he had to stay for so fingers crossed it can be a smooth transition.
