Hi guys I am also a midwife living in Manchester presently and have lodged for my 190 subclass for SA (state sponsored) medicals and police checks completed 20th August 2018..

could I grab your email also so we can all keep linked in better?

I haven't even started my AHPRA yet.. and to be honest I don't even know where to start with it!!

I know I will have notifications on my registration due to criterion 5 (continuity of care cases in training) which is so stupid! I have over 11 years experience and coordinate a delivery suite but will have restrictions on my practice ?

lets link up and share our journeys ?

Oh wow I’m a midwife in Manchester too! Although I finished work last week!

AHPRAs a pain but I’ve got a checklist if you want it that I’ve made for other girls at work who are looking to move!

Ahh amazing! So we are similar! I have been qualified for three years but I have only 19 months experience! I traveled a bit :D

I received my invite for 190 visa today so I am looking to get that application is ASAP :)

AHPRA was incredibly stressful! I did all of mine from the UK, could you not just stay at home and do it? You cant spend your 30th on a plane!

Yep I found it all a stress! I have to present in person by 10th July and have no other annual leave! I might try and ask for an extension but I won’t be able to get over to Australia till at least September as can’t get any holidays in summer now they’ve all been taken up!

where do you work if you don’t mind me asking? And are you planning on going to Sydney?

I am doing everything on my own so I hope I have done it right, but I have applied for both 189 visa with 65points and 190 visa with 70 points for NSW. I applied for them both on the same EOI. Is that correct?!

I got my AHPRA two years ago and worked in Aus for 6 months on a working holiday visa! So I’m literally ready to go as soon as I get an invite ?

How long have you worked as a midwife?! ? I’m honestly so happy to be able to speak to a fellow midwife!

Nearly 20 months qualified now! I’m sure you’ll have done it right because as I remember the visa application wasn’t much different to the ANMAC application in terms of requirements! Have you applied for the visa for both 189 or 190 or done an EOI for both?

so good you already have AHPRA!! It’s the most stressful thing having to work out if I fly over there or not for my annual leave (which I booked off for my birthday as well! Really don’t wanna have to do a 48hour round trip for my 30th!!)

Oh my goodness I can’t believe I have finally found another midwife! I’ve not came across one yet!

Congratulations on your invite! That is so exciting!

I am exactly the same as you, I have applied for 189/190 visa with 65 points and 70 points. I lodged mine on the 21st March but haven’t heard anything since! Did you just receive an email?

Its really reassuring to see you got yours through so quickly! I’m driving myself crazy researching online the occupation ceilings and invitation rounds ? !

Ah lovely! Yeah I was expecting 12 weeks for the invite as that’s what they said, but got it in 2 weeks! Have you applied for the visa or for the nomination? For the 190 you get an invite for the nomination and then an invite for the visa! Have you done all ahpra as well?

  5. Hi guys!

    so I’m a midwife, 190 for NSW - 65 points with 70 once nominated. Here’s my timeline:

skills assessment sent 8th January, approved by ANMAC end of January.

EOI for subclass 190 lodged 24th february

invited to apply for nomination 3rd march

applied for nomination around 9th march

invited to apply for 190 visa around 18 march

application for visa lodged 23rd March and Medicals and police check all done last week.

if anyone has any tips on how to remain calm whilst waiting for any news it’d be greatly appreciated ?

    Hello Sophie

    How are you getting on?

Has anyone else heard from Nsw yet re 190 invitation with 65 points plus 5 for state sponsorship recently? I am a nurse x good luck all

I got an invitation today for the visa. I had 65+5 but I’m a midwife so I’m technically in a different skill group but fingers crossed they’re inviting more!

  8. Hey everyone,

i received an invite to apply for the 190 state sponsored visa (NSW) today, and just wondered about front loading with medical and police checks etc. I’m in the U.K. so was looking at Nuffield Health as they do fast appointments with all the things required for the visa, but just wondering if it’s possible to get the Health check without my visa HAP number, and also if it’s worth it? Does it actually speed up the visa processing time?

    thanks!

  9. Hi all, just wanted to say hi on this thread as well!

im a midwife, have done EOI for 189 (65 points) and applied for nomination for NSW 190 (70 points including nomination). I’ve used an agent because I found the documents needed to be a bit of a minefield, I also timed this with my AHPRA application which is going to take another 5 months (I applied in December).

my biggest struggle has actually been using postal systems as my COGS have been lost 5 times, and my ANMAC application got lost then turned up and too damaged (although I think Is now done online!)

so fingers crossed things work out alright for everyone! I was provisionally offered a job pending my visa in Sydney but I think this is different in midwifery!

About the 5 weeks..not sure about how occupations affect it..I'm a midwife

    Ah I’m a midwife too!

i received an invite this morning, but that’s not the invite for the visa it’s the invite for the nomination? How long from there was it until you applied for the actual visa? Thanks!

So I've recently completed my application for NSW nomination for 190 visa. Now I know the wait for processing is around 12 weeks but just wondered if everyone that provides their proof gets an invite or whether anyone had been declined for NSW nomination after completing application form and providing proof and fee?

Hi Can I ask when you got the invite after submitting an EOI? I’ve submitted an EOI total of 70 points (including the 5 points for a 190) and just wondering how long invites can be! And does it matter what profession?

Why did they tell you that?? What were the reasons?

Thinking about it it may have been because this was quoted last April, so nearing the end of the invitation rounds so maybe by then the points requirements had changed? But I was just told that NSW would only offer state sponsorship if I had 80 points. I will contact my agent to ask if they can do an EOI for me this time as that would give me 70 points

  13. For my reference it wasn’t a manager - it was someone who had supervised me in my preceptorship- the guidelines don’t say it has to be a manager role just a registered nurse/midwife. My reference was accepted!

Royal mail lost all our anmac docs so we resent them all via dhl

I know the'yre awful. I resent my anmac docs with fedex and they got there fine, but the NMC won't do that for the COGS so I'm hoping an email will be enough

Hello, I had such a difficult time with the NMC verifications team as AHPRA never seemed to get my certificate of good standing (COGS). In the end I did all of the following:

    1. Requested a new COGS:

*I had a copy sent to 3 different AHPRA addresses Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. This is because although one AHPRA office may receive your application, it may get processed by another office which handles international applications. E.g. My application was submitted to Adelaide office but processed by Melbourne.

*To maximise the chances of AHPRA linking your COGS to your application: Ask the NMC to provide your AHPRA application/reference number, full name, date of birth, UK postal address, NMC pin on any letters sent to AHPRA.

Option 2 worked best after AHPRA still didn’t receive any of my COGS and were about to withdraw my application.

    2. Email Lisa Cherry (Lisa.Cherry@nmc-uk.org) from the NMC verifications team.

In case she is off, copy in the whole NMC verifications team into the email: (Verifications@nmc-uk.org)

*Ask her to directly email a copy of your COGS to your AHPRA case officer.

*In your email to Lisa Cherry, state the following:

-you urgently require a COGS to be resent or your AHPRA application will be withdrawn.

-you have requested multiple COGS from NMC which AHPRA have not received

-provide your AHPRA application/reference number, full name, date of birth, UK address, NMC PIN number, etc.

    Good Luck!:)

Thanks so much I'm having an absolute nightmare with everything and it hasn't even started - Royal Mail lost my COGS to ANMAC as well as all my supporting documents to ANMAC for my 189 visa and so I'm feeling so disheartened by it all! I spoke to NMC verifications today who were a bit vague about resending it to AHPRA as I didn't have confirmation that it's actually been lost (the one to ANMAC is coming up as lost by royal mail, whereas I never got a tracking reference for my COGS for AHPRA so don't actually know!) but they will resend the one to ANMAC today and I've asked for it to go to the three AHPRA places like you've suggested. If I don't hear back that they've sent them off I'll ask for an email to be sent to both case officers because quite honestly I can't take any more posting problems!!! Starting to feel like I will never actually get there but trying to be an eternal optimist!

How long before applying to ahpra did you send the NMC COGS? I think when I sent a request to NMC, there was a statement on the reply email that said to make sure you have an account open with the council you're applying to.

It was sent from the NMC around 27/11 and I doubt it would have got there faster than my application. I also got my uni to send transcripts  on the 21/11. Does AHPRA only open an account once they receive your application?

  17. Hey guys just jumping on this thread as I didn’t want to start a whole new one!

so I applied for AHPRA in December (received 7th), prior to this I had asked the NMC to send a COGS to them. Received an email this morning to say AHPRA still need the COGS. I’ve told AHPRA that I have had one sent from NMC and forwarded my email from NMC verifications from 7th December where they specifically confirmed they have sent a COGS to AHPRA. I don’t know exactly when the NMC sent the cogs but has anyone else had experience of this? I have contacted the Nmc to ask again and see if there’s a way of tracking it but I don’t want to miss out on the 30 day window so should I ask for another one to be sent? I’ve had my documents lost in the post before so don’t want a repeat of it! Thanks!
