Thanks for the update. I'll post in two weeks when I'm back home to see if I have the same time slot. Geez I wish I could check my letterbox.
Hopefully it will be same slot for you. I would like to catch up with you on the citizenship ceremony so if you don't mind, please inbox me your contact details in a private message. I will send you mine. Thanks

Hi
Just wondering, what is the contact number you used to talk to BCC? is there any email address or phone number?
Brisbane City Council: 07 3403 8888
-
Also note, July 3rd is a Sunday (a day after the federal election). The ceremonies in Brisbane are usually during the week and not on a Sunday unless it is ANZAC or Citizenship Day.
True.
Now I am satisfied that ceremony is on 13th July 2016. After calling BCC, I called DIBP straight away to confirm whether the ceremony is on 03rd July or 13th July. They reconfirmed that it is on 13th July 2016 @ 1915 Brisbane City Hall.
@littlegreenman What time you have been allocated for the ceremony? Is it same 1915 or different?

I called Brisbane City Council today and asked when is the next ceremony held by BCC? and the guy replied me that the NEXT ceremony to be held is on 03rd July 2016 (at Brisbane City Hall). I was a bit surprised and told him that DIBP told me that my ceremony is on 13th July 2016 at 1915 at Brisbane City Hall. He then said that there is no BCC cermony on 13th July 2016 however it could be DIBP private ceremony but NOT the ceremony orgaized by the council.
@littlegreenman ... Please shed some light on it . Thanks

Nope, as mentioned I received the approval letter for myself four business days later. No emails etc. BCC also doesn't send out e-mail invities so watch the letterbox instead. Shouldn't take too long.
Hmmm it sounds like you have a lot of information about Citizenship application and ceremony process in Brisbane. I am guessing my approval letter will arrive somewhere in the end of next week. Thanks for your help.
-
The DIBP lady said she'd approve it later today. I don't think there is a way of checking until you get the letter from Canberra?
Yup the lady said to me the same. Do you think DIBP sends an approval email (like Visa Grant Letter)?
-
Funny, my wife had her appointment this morning at 9am as well. My approval letter (same date as test) arrived in the mail four business days later. Now just waiting for a ceremony. I'll let you know once we get our invite, kindly do the same.
Hmm no worries. Will do it. Has your wife's application approved yet?
-
You can call the hotline to reschedule. At the time you get your invite you got the earliest available date. However if someone subsequently cancels and you are the lucky one to call up at right time you can change to that earlier slot.
It took me quite a few attempts. I tried calling every morning for about two weeks.
Thank you littlegreenman for your advice. Here is my updated timeline.

So I finally became an Australian citizen on July 13th 2016. The Brisbane City hall was FULL of new citizens including myself and @littlegreenman. Finally I have reached the end of my Australian Citizenship Journey and this will be my last post on this forum. I wish everyone best of luck for their application. Thanks
