  1. It can depend on the state you are moving to. In SA we kept our UK licences and none of us including our then 20 year old son had to sit any additional tests. Just got new Aussie ones after filling in the forms.

just to add it can also depend on the country you are from. You can check on the state transport website for the state you are going to.

I was assuming you have a UK one

    Hi Rammygirl,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes we all have UK licenses. we are moving to WA, perth?

wil have a look on the website!

    thanks a lot!

  3. hi Rich,

We are shipping our contents with John Mason, they are coming next tuesday to pack one container. I was torn between John mason and Crown, however just felt JM were more professional although they turned out to be 100£ more expensive than Crown, just felt more safer with JM. Get a few quotes and see who you feel conformable with.

    All the best

  4. Hi all,

If one can shed any light on this topic. I am currently deciding who to go with to ship over our household goods, business goods and vehicles. I am stuck who to choose between John Mason or Crown Relocations. They are both similar priced and just want to hear about your recommendations of either company. I felt happy with both representatives and their service.

I am slightly swayed with Crown as they have there own office in Perth, however one of our family members used John Mason and couldn't fault them and another used Crown and could fault them!

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  5. Hi B Bear and Gumstar,

Many thanks for your help!! I have got the test on 8th November at the college in north london. It all seems okay just trying to get back into the correct ways of doing things instead of site shortcuts!

Is the gap training a must if i am being sponsored on a 457. Cant i just apply for the Artck when i move over?

    Thanks again

  6. Q5.7. I have just been granted a temporary resident visa and intend to move to Australia within a few months. Am I eligible to buy an established (second hand) dwelling?

No. You must be living in in Australia to be able to seek approval to buy a second-hand property (as you would have to live in it).

I'm pretty certain from the FRIB website above you have to be already resident on the 457. Have you seen the house you want to buy?

    Hi Que Sera, Sera

Yes we have seen the house we want to buy when we went to visit in March/April. We also have put down a deposit for the house too. Is it possible to put down a relative's house who live in Australia?

I don't see why we need to be residing in Oz as we are buying a house to move across into.

    Thanks Indi

  7. Hi All,

Has anyone been dealing with FIRB for buying an existing dwelling on a 457. I have applied for the FIRB approval, and received an email requesting a residing address in Australia. We don't have an address there as we are buying a house to live there!?.

    Thanks Indi

  8. Karen Soesman- So far only PSS have provided a quote. Crown are coming today, haven't heard back from Pickfords. John Mason are coming on Monday. But i think it will come down to PSS or John Mason. We are looking to move in Dec so will ship out in Nov. Moving to Perth, how about you?

  9. Hi all,

Just wanted to ask the question, Which of the two shipping companies are the better-PSS or John Mason?

Has anyone had any bad experiences with either and how the company dealt with it, if they did. Any good recommendations are also welcome.

    Many Thanks

  10. Hi all,

Just a quick question, from any past experiences who would you recommend for TV/Phone/Broadband packages for a family of four with a home office for a business?

Also for the Electricity and Gas?

Who are best for the money and reliable with the relax attitude in Australia! lol
