  1. Feeling depressed .... my filipina wife has studied for 34 years, always in English, never failed an exam, is now a British Citizen, and has specialised in kidney nursing, where there is a worldwide shortage, but her reading speed is a bit low, so she can't pass that IELTS exam, and nobody is able to offer her a job without it. She is a terrific nurse, loves her work, and 34 years of ambition are being wasted. Any ideas welcome, any civilised country. Thanks, and sorry about the cricket.

Perhaps try another style of English exam - I think there's a couple that can be used rather than IELTS - Cambridge exam? Sorry, forgot the names. Good luck!

  2. Hi Alex,

Definitely get in touch with your case officer asap. I received my notice in principle in November and replied back straight away so got mine extended till November 2016. I left for oz in December and I've still not presented in person over here yet. Did your case officer not mention this specifically to you? Mine emailed me and made it clear that I had to reply back asap for the extension. Sounds like they didn't make you aware of it?

Get on their case and good luck :)

  3. Ahpra is a friggin nightmare!

Can anyone please clarify - I have been granted my 189 visa - had to obtain police check certificates from the uk and oz as part of the process, now doing the paperwork to register with ahpra and it seems I can't just use a certified copy of these, I have to apply and pay for another check through that fit2work thing! Have I got this right??!

    Thanks, Kymm :)

  4. Have attached the ANMAC checklist I received when I lodged with them. As a disclaimer please note this is for the FULL assessment not the modified one, and was issued to me last January so I can't promise it's up to date, but it should help to give anyone looking to apply for full assessment what documents you need to start collecting.

I don't know why they don't put this list on their website it would be so helpful to people thinking about applying!

Thank you so much for posting this - really helpful!! :)

  5. Carrie if you want me to send you a copy of the ANMAC checklist then send me a message on FB. You get an email with this when you pay the fee. I wish it was more readily available before the process as I would have held off getting my documents certified.

Any chance I could please get a copy of this, nmc is taking ages and would be good to get a head start on the paperwork? Also, I applied for a verification of registration certificate, the one that costs £34, but it said something about some agencies needing proof your registration is current - do u know if this is anything to worry about?

    Cheers, Kymm

  6. I tweeted them and emailed. The tweet and the email state diff total amount of hours (tweet 456, email 480) but I would go with the larger to be sure. Don't want to miss out for the sake of 24 hours. Also It states the equivalent of 3 months work, I had hoped to do some extra shifts as to speed up the process but it has to be done over a minimum of 3 months xx will dig out screen shots once I'm home for u x

Is this for the ANMAC skills assessment or AHPRA? I was under the impression it was 3 months of at least 32 hour weeks (for ANMAC).

    Cheers
