  1. Hi @eagle656 if you have work then it would have to be Cairns. It is a great family area. In regards to schools it depends on if you want to go private or government. A number of the schools go from prep up to year 12 which is great for the children moving over as they don't have the upset of changing schools again in the future. Personally I would suggest the Northern Beaches, Brinsmead, Freshwater, Redlynch Valley, Redlynch to live. Schools that are good are

TAS - Trinity Anglican - they have two campuses

Peace Lutheran - An excellent small school which treats every child as part of one large family, no bullying etc

St Andrews Catholic - Has an excellent reputation up until Yr 10 then there seems to be less control over students, bullying, drugs etc, however they have the most electives for the final years.

Freshwater Christian School - Another good school, a little more expensive than the others but the students they turn out are lovely.

St Monica's Catholic College for girls - An excellent school and the boys one is

    St Augustines

Redlynch state school - A government school that also goes from juniors up to Yr 12 probably one of the best in Cairns.

    excellent information.. Thank you..

really apprecite you time and efforts

  2. Hi I am also a nurse relocating to cairns, hopefully in October, which hospital r u going to be working?

I haven't received my offer letter yet. Still waiting.. It's Cairns hinterland hospital..

Do you know how long will it take to get offer letter after an interview????

i have passes my interview and sent all relevant certificates ( JP certified) and signed papers 3 weeks ago..

    thank you

  3. I have always consider Bundaberg to be a bit backwards, old fashioned and a word being with "P" that I cannot remember how to spell (very helpful - not!) - I think you would call it fairly ocker.

Apart from turtle hatching on the beach and Fraser Island being fairly nearby - I thought it was a pretty boring area.

But just reading in a newspaper yesterday that it has become a "happening" hot spot place for foodies.

Bundaberg hospital also has a bad reputation since that fake doctor incident.

That aside, I think Cairns would be the better choice. No idea about schools or safety in the area, but there is so much to do up there in the surrounding area:

Port Douglas, Great Barrier Reef, The Daintree, Islands, Cape Tribulation, Cape York, Atherton Tablelands and so on. You should have an absolute ball lifestyle wise.

It is warm up there and the only downside I can think of (apart from animals that will attack, maim or kill you given half the chance!) are the tropical storms - but thankfully the big ones are far and few between.

If renting or buying make sure the house is built to cyclone proof standards. And don't buy on a flood plain. http://www.bom.gov.au/cyclone/about/eastern.shtml

Never visited before and relocating is pretty brave. Pity you cannot come out on a holiday and check these areas out yourself first.

Why have you always wanted to go to QLD? Something you saw on TV? Or from friends that have visited? What piqued your interest?

EDIT: Don't freak out about that animal comment. I am only teasing. Sure there are crocodiles and sharks that will eat you - but simple solution: don't swim in the rivers, billabongs or the sea.

Thank you very much for these informations...

why QLD...??? I am so used with tropical weather.... That's what I prefer... I wish my kids could go out and enjoy themself in a warm weather.. I personally doesn't like to be at home during winter season...

Still waiting for pomsqueen's comment regarding schools....

  4. I would personally go cairns....bundy does have cheap housing though but i find it bit slow n run down in parts..With not much there..I got offered job there too as nurse but turned it down as unit was tiny with not much going on in it..I like to be busy..bundy is great initially coz there is lots of nature stuff to see but once that wears off i wouldn't want to live there. cairns is beautiful but more humid which I hate..stops you doing anything but running for air con but you can adjust n cairns has more nursing opportunities in my opinion if u wanted a change after a while n cairns has very different atmosphere. .brighter more vibrant n energised...just my opinion..I would pick cairns without a second thought.

Thank you xxlornaxx.. Thanks for reassurance.. It's a big decision and I don't want to get it wrong...

anyone has any suggestion about primary school..? I am sure I have seen a post from pomsqueen.. But now unable to find..

    thank you

  6. Hi all,

Myself, my wife and 2 boys (age 7 &3) are planning to re-locate to QLD early October. Both of us are nurses and I am offered job in cairns and Bundaberg. We have Permanent residency status.

I never visited Australia, but always wanted to go to QLD. But we don't know CAIRNS or Bundaberg???

Our preferences are like warm weather, good education for boys, safe for kids, cheaper housing etc.

    Any Suggestions, Ideas, experiences..??

    Thanks in advance

  9. Hi again,

i have submitted my 189 visa ( family) application end of September. I worked it out so many times before I submitting it. I have uploaded all the documents and Medicals cleared..

Well I was going through the application again and again.. I found few things ..?? Mistakes or missed..

My wife is indian born and brought up, lived and worked in Republic of Ireland 2004-2005 and now settled in UK. We haven't applied for a police clearance from Ireland.. Well now I have applied for that..

now again I realised that when I filled the form I haven't added her previous country of residency in India.(from birth to 2004).

(question like- has any of the applicant lived any other country)..I have done Republic of Ireland..

does it needed to be added.. If it is so, can I fill the 1023 form and sent it DIBP.?is it just to attach like other documents?? My status still shows in progress.

Also does she need a police clearance from indian...?

can somebody answer please..thanks for your help

    head ache never end ...

    thanks

  10. Hi guys,

i am sorry if this question asked before.i couldn't find an answer. Please somebody reply.

i have applied for family visa (189) on September . All our documents uploaded and Medicals cleared. Police certificate obtained and uploaded from UK.

my wife lived in Republic of Ireland for over a year during 2004-2005. We have included this period while obtaining police certificate from UK as requested.

My question is does she need a separate police cratification from Republic of Ireland or Uk Police clearance is enough.. .? She obtained Ireland police clearance when she moved to UK (2005) any suggestion of similar experience please..

    THanks you

  11. hello folks

i have just been assigned a case officer and have been asked to provide medicals (doing today)and PCC for Australia as well as the UK

just a note for people, if you have spent more than 12 months in a country in the last 10 years you need a police check for that country, hence why i need to provide an ozzy one as i am on shore and was here for 12 months in 2012,

was not aware but now you all are so don't let this delay your application if you need to do it

    cheers

    adam and sarah

    Hi all,

above post made me worry again. Can somebody please reply.

i have applied for family visa (189) sep 26th. Uploaded all documents exept form 80. Medicals done and police certificated uploaded.

my question is my mrs lived in Republic of Ireland over a year (2004-2005) and moved to uk. When we applied for uk police clearance we have included last 10 years of residency including from Ireland as they requested. I wonder is this enough to clear her police certificate or does she need a police certificate from Ireland .

Any suggestion or such expererience please.

    regards

  12. Hi All,

I have received a notification this morning from skillselect, saying my EOI is suspended as I have lodged a visa application.. I am little worried.. Hope it is normal.. Anyone received this message ..? any idea..?

    Thanks Delilah for the link

  13. We just got our direct grant this morning! Yaaaaaaaay!!!! :) It has taken exactly 2 months. Funny thing is, according to the visa tracker yesterday, I was to be next in line. But never thought it would happen just like that in that order. Here's hoping that everyone else gets their grants real fast too!

    congrats Delilah..well done..

may I ask you, how did you find out your visa tracker ..? any links please..

    thanks

  14. MY CO just asked me to submit medical and form 80. Is there usually anything else after this. I don't have an agent. I am doing it all by myself. So just wondering what else is left. Also, what are the chances of rejection if any?

Kshitindra, hope you have uploaded all documents and Pcc...well .. Otherwise they would have ask you by the time...you don't really need an agent for this.. And I don't think anything else.. Fingers crossed... And wait for your Grant.. Will be soon.. Can you please add your timeline...
