  1. Just got a direct grant. So excited....strange though - something woke me up an hour before my alarm and I checked my email abd there it was. Unusual for me, a rarity, and very exciting!

Heading over at the end of October. Thanks to everyone that posts, waiting has been so hard, and this made it a lot easier.

Good luck with your grants and see you in Oz!

    Nicky

    Form 80 to be uploaded..

Fingers crossed for an email from CO or if we are lucky a Direct grant

Can somebody give the method to creating the timeline in the signature(at the end of each post as i have seen in certain members posts)

So that we all can see without having to scroll the whole thread..

    Good luck to all

    cheers

Go into settings at the top of the page. Then signature settings on left hand bar and you can then add a timeline.

    Good luck with application

  5. Hi Renne,

I noticed ours had changed this morning too - Processing please wait for the department to contact you.

Another change noted is the medical information line. After our medicals were uploaded it said that 'no further checks were required', this has now changed to 'Health has been finalised for this person for this visa subclass based on the information provided to the department. If this person needs to do anything further to meet the health requirement, they will be contacted by the department. There is no need to contact the department at this time concerning this matter'.

I hope this means that someone is checking over the forms and we'll get a decision soon! (fingers crossed!).

    Eagerly waiting...

Great news, seems like there is action for the June applicants which is great. I'm a July applicant so expecting a fair old wait yet.

So did you front load form 80 as well as meds and pcc?

  6. Hi Nicky

    biggest welcome :)

I am pretty much in the same position as you, just waiting to be allocated a CO and the visa grant

We have used a migration agent who has been a massive help and has said that we could have our visas mid october so i am hoping we will just get a direct visa grant like yourself as all paperwork etc has been submitted, even the form 80

Wer abouts in brisbane are you lookin at moving too? you planning on going this year?

Same here we spent a year travelling in 2010 and loved it and we have not stopped thinking about ause so thats why we made the decision to move :)

hopefully it wont be long until we both hear regarding our visas

Not sure exactly where in Brisbane, maybe one of the southern districts. When I was in Australia before I visited Brisbane but only for a couple of days. Most of my time was spent living in Sydney, but having lived in London for so long I'm thinking somewhere a bit smaller and near to diving, forests and so on would be good. Bit of a lifestyle change.

Hoping to go later this year once my visa is approved I'll rent out my flat and head over.

It's nerve wracking waiting, keep thinking I may have filled something in wrong. I haven't completed the form 80 but a couple of people told me not to unless requested.

Keep in touch and let m know if you get a CO, I'll do the same. Do you know which district you want to live in?

  7. Hi, firstly good luck to everybody waiting for a response from immi, i hope you don't have to wait to long. Secondly, I am not yet ready to apply to immi as I have only just sent off my skill assessment but I have started to fill in forms and gather evidence to try and be ready when my skill assessment is complete. Looking through the forms, it asks that anybody over the age of 18 included in the visa needs to prove functional English. Can anybody advise on what info they submitted? My husband does not have any paperwork relating to his secondary education. I also wanted to seek advise on whether or not to get cracking with medicals and police checks before we apply for visa or wait until we have been invited?

    Any advise appreciated, Cheers.

Hi, I did complete IELTS test, even though I am English and was educated here. This is because I wanted to get points for superior english which you can get if you score a minimum of 8 in each of the sections of the test. So don't bother is you are form and educated in an english speaking country unless you need the points - it costs about £145 each time you take it.

For medical checks and so on, I applied for police check when before I submitted my EOI, but waited for invite before doing my medical. The are only valid for a year.

    Good luck

  8. Hi Everyone

Thought I would start a new feed for anyone that has lodged their application in July 2014 .

My boyfriend and I have lodged the 189 visa to live in Brisbane Australia.

We showed our EOI on the 20/06/2014 - We had our Positive skills assessment 26/06/2014 - had our Invitation to apply on the 28/07/2014 which was then lodged on the 29/07/2014

We have our medicals booked for the 16th of this month and I sent off the paper documents for our PCC'S yesterday even though we have not had to go ahead from our case officer, very keen to get everything done soon as we are hoping to move to Australia late October.

Immi site and our migration agent have said the current processing time is 3 months.

Is it likely that we will have our visas by then? Anyone else in the same situation or needs advise or has any to share :)

    Keighley xxxxxx

    Hi Keighley,

Thanks for starting this thread, I was thinking of doing the same. Have been tracking the June 2014 lodge gang and it seems like the visa's are generally taking around 3 months to be granted. I've not been allocated a CO yet....hoping I might get a direct grant, fingers crossed. Plan to move to Brisbane too, work allowing. Very exciting, spent a year on Oz on working holiday visa, a long time ago now, but love the climate, wildlife and people. Fingers crossed.

Anyone out there that lodged in July and has a CO allocated already?

    Nicky

  9. i think you need the pgce. To the best of my knowledge it is the only way you will get recognised as a teacher.

Hi, Just wondered if you completed form 80 to get your 189 grant? Have front loaded everything else, but prior to teaching I was a freelancer and so had may clients over the years and so unless I can just put that time down as one period of self employed work it would be onerous to fill it out.

    Nicky

  10. ****VISA GRANTED****8am this morning :-)))))))) we lodged on 1st June police checks and medicals sent & completed 14th June (with no case officer) direct GRANT!!! Thanks everyone for all you advise and good luck, hang in there it will happen :-) xx MELBOURNE HEAR WE COME :-)))

Hi, Congratulations, you must be so pleased :) I lodged my 189 visa in July, all front loaded except for form 80. Did you upload form 80? I have uploaded lots of proof of my work history and am thinking if I add a CV as well this should suffice. What do you think?

  11. Hi,

I'm a secondary science teacher - Biology specialist. I just submitted my 189 application and am about to upload all my documents...but am unsure about form 80!

Did anyone on this thread get requested for a form 80? It looks like a lot of grief to fill out so hoping I can get away without completing it. But also don't want to delay my visa being granted. Advice please!

  12. Passed on my IELTS now :) got 8.5 overall with no less than 8 in each section. Sent off my AITLS assessment a while ago as people advised me on here, and they wrote back to say they need a transcription of my PGCE before the can progress it further.

I now have that in my hands - its pretty long and heavy, posted over from my university. I wanted to send the original as to have each page certified by a solicitor is not practical and would be prohibitively expensive.

If I send it registered post and send the original, is that okay, or does it have be certified by a solicitor even if its an original document?

If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

    Best wishes,

    Nicky

  13. Nickystar,

I did reply to this on the teachers thread as well. You will not need to send your IETS to AITSL as you completed your Degree and PGCE in UK. Get the AITSL assessment sent off as this is a very long wait. You an then arrange for your re-sit of IELTS (you only need General for immi purposes)

Thanks cool breeze am going to do exactly that. Already booked in to resit - but academic, will ring the centre and see if I can swap this on to a general IELTS.

If general is easier and I can still score an 8 then that makes sense.

  14. Hi tiger stripes, thanks for replying. My degree was completed in an English speaking country but I need the extra 20 points I can get if I get a level 8 for IELTS but not sure if it has to be assessed by AITSL for me to get the points or whether I can submit my IELTS score at the point of applying for my visa. In which case I can go ahead with my skills assessment now and won't be delayed any...anyone know?

  15. Hi,

I just received my IELTS score - 9 in all areas except writing which was a 7.5. This is really disappointing as I need an 8 in each area to have another points. But as I've already gathered all my documents for the skills assessment by AITSL I wondered if I can submit to them with this IELTS score.

Meanwhile I can resit IELTS again and get this one remarked and when lodging for my visa include the improved writing score. I knew I'd mucked up my writing test as I ran out of time at the end so couldn't read through and check for errors. I went for a toilet break at the beginning which I regretted.

Is it okay to do this, or does the skills assessment IELT level need to match with the one I submit for my visa?

    Any advice would be welcomed.

  16. I just got back my IELTS scores and got 9's in reading, speaking and listening, but sadly, got only a 7.5 in writing. I needed at least 8 in all 4. I'm resitting and asking for a remark but wondered whether I can start the skills assessment process going by putting an application into AITSL with these IELTS results and then at the EOI stage submit my new IELTS score (hopefully improved to an 8). I ran out of time in the writing test so didn't get a chance to check over my work for mistakes - think this may have been due to taking a toilet break at the start - oops!

Is this possible or is the IELTS score you submit to AITSL the one you have to submit with your visa application?
