  1. You can secure one online depending on agents you just need to send a copy of your documents etc through. If you could put some extra rent upfront it would be in your favour it all depends on your landlord. We stayed with family but it is doable. It's pretty easy to get a rental when you get here. We were in our house with 2 wks of being here, we moved in 5 days after our application had been accepted :-) goodluck! :-)

  2. Hi jo, exciting busy times lay ahead for you!! Our son goes to hillsmeade primary school near berwick springs prom. Your coming in the winter so it's abit cooler than we thought but yesterday we had 19 and clear skies, we arrived on June 1st. The Australians seem really friendly and we managed to secure jobs and a rental pretty quickly. We are still finding our feet . We thought our son would find it difficult being away from family as we are very close to them. Although he does miss them he has settled in very well and loves it here!! How is the move going??

  3. If your travelling one way with Singapore airlines and on a visa, call the airline and they give you an extra 10 kg per bag. We did this in June ,I couldn't but my partner and son did , extra 20kg really helped considering our shipment still hasn't arrived!

  4. We flew over with them in June this year, they were brilliant, no complaints. We booked our flights through flight center I do believe the earlier you book the cheaper they are! :) where are you moving to?

  6. Hello everyone.

This is the first site we have registered for tips and advice on our big move to Melbourne this year flights are booked for may 31st, advice needed looking at seabrook area. As it seems to be more affordable for us to start off and the seabrook school seems to have a good rep for our 8 yr old son?? Can anyone else give us input? I'm a beauty therapist a d my partner is a bricklayer, we have no jobs to go to either, any tips as regards to short lease rentals considering our applications without jobs? I am a australian citizen and have sponsored my son and partner??? Please help as there is very much to do..... Sponsorship only came through December so thought we would make a start when they had :-)) any advice is better than nothing oh and "happy new year"
