  1. Good luck everyone it does happen, we have been in Brisbane a week and just a word of warning, everything is so expensive here and cars are really expensive at least 10000 dollars for a decent car, we bought an old banger for 1800 and it's pretty naff and people shout stuff at us so make sure you have funds for a car, also mobile phone. It's also really tough going places in the day time, like to the bank in the intense heat, even shopping, spent loads on yellow cabs. There is a free bus from the airport to a shopping centre, we went there to hang out after our flight. We went Singapore airlines, they weren't very strict about bags and hand luggage, we took play stations and loads of devices in suitcases and hand luggage. They didn't ask us to turn anything on. If anyone wants to know anything specific let me know, we landed on Friday and I started work on Monday, jet lag wasn't too bad either. I would advise also getting a house with a pool, good luck everyone your time will come soon enough xxxx

  2. Oh cool were abouts?? I fly the 22nd on me own aswell :( not looking forward to that ha x

hey cool, to be honest we have no idea, going to head for Tweed heads, Coolengatta area and have a week on holiday just chilling out. Then i will start looking for a job, depending on where the job is and what suberb we like then we will look for long term rental. Which ever way the wind blows, i left when i was 5 and we used to live in Paddington.

  3. If the information on my medical information letter is correct then I am being considered for 100 straight off without any asking for it.

I also saw the bit about not needing to be off-shore when 100 is granted and sent a query on London contact form to get clarification. Sadly all I got was a standard reply saying that there is no visa designed to allow one to be in Australia waiting for a partner visa, and no clarification of my actual question. I would also be grateful to know if one can be in Australia on tourist visa and then go straight to PR when 100 is granted without needing an off-short trip.

I suspect that the wording on the website refers to the 309/100 route, so if you were off-shore when 309 was granted then no need to go off-shore again when 100 is granted in its place after the 2 year period. My guess is that if one is granted a 100 straight off that will still require one to be off-shore when it is granted. I would be happy to be proved wrong on this if someone gets a specific clarification from their CO.

Oh dear i just had this from my CO, looks like we still have to leave Oz

    - Gary may enter Australia on the tourist visa but he will need to depart Australia for me to grant the 100. I’ll be in touch via email when that time is due.

  4. I cant see why you would get the 100 granted as my partner and I have been together 4 years and have 2 kids together and he was granted the 100 automatically (last month). We did ask our CO to be considered for the 100 and she confirmed in an email that it would happen (we just wanted it in writing so there was no oops or misunderstanding and we didnt have to wait to get the approval letter to know for sure), but I have seen other people posting on here that they have been granted without having to ask or mention it.

I didnt realise that you could be in Aust when the 100 was granted but had to be out for the 309, yet I have seen someone post earlier (either this page or the last one) with a link to the immigration website that clearly says you can be in or out of Aust if the 100 is granted......so looks like you wont need to leave Aust if you get the 100 (ask your CO to confirm which one he/she is granting just to put your mind at ease if you like).

Thanks, i have just fired off an email to my CO to see what she says, that would make life a whole lot easier.

  5. I am hopefully only a few days away.... Hoping I go straight to the 100 Partner Visa rather the 309 given I got married to my Australian wife 9 years ago and we have 2 young children....

I read somewhere recently that for the 100 you don't need to go offshore for It to be granted if you are already in Australia (but you do for the 309) - does anyone know if that's true?

OMG i never saw this, i have lived with my DH for 23 years and we have been married for 12, do you think we would go straight to a 100, and not need to leave Australia for it to be granted? Doh!!

  6. Hi, our applicatiom was lodged 22nd Jan so we're (hopefully) on the home stretch and just past 8 months. We have flights booked for November but think we may be safe to look at a holiday visa just in case - can you get this with a one way flight??

As long as you have funds to cover it. Its a subclass 600 and takes a while to get, i went with Visafirst instead of doing through immiaccount, but they initially said 6-8 weeks but online it states 10 days, or 1 if no further info is required. Had to write an itinerary, bank statements showing he had at least 7000 AUS dollars to support his 6 month stay. HAPID and character ref docs (criminal history from 23 years ago), so we holding our breath. it all got passed with CO so hope it gets passed again for the holiday visa, cant help being worried though. and its been over 10 days now:unsure:

  7. I cant think about my Tara's as i well up every time, just even thinking about it!! Again same just want to pack my suitcase and head for the airport, and will go which ever way the wind takes us when we get there. I have my 4 kids with me and we all got Oz passports as i got theirs through citizenship by descent as i was born there so just my husbands Visa holding us all back!! your 15 days a head of me so i want you to get yours now just as much as i want mine lol

  8. Hi Logged hubby spouse visa on - Date 30th Jan, CO assigned 27th Feb - VF, Penal requested 29th April, medical done same time as submitting online, was told 8-9 months. Enquired about Visitor Visa on 27th Aug and was passed to general enquiry at Immigration. So end of 9 months would be in 5 weeks time. Have given notice to quit at work and house, going to go as soon as holiday visitor visa comes and will exit country for 3 days as requested. BUT Just want to Visa to come now!! so much hanging in the balance and didn't want to wait for the visa to come before giving notice on everything as we don't want to fly out at Christmas. Praying the visa comes soon, has anyone else got theirs yet with similar lodgement date?
