  1. Hi there,

Most of the agency recruiters are english here and therefore are aware of the ACCA accreditation.

Employers seem to prefer the local CPA/CA but will accept the uk accreditations.

It's worth warning you that the market is alot slower here than the uk, so be prepared to wait a while and potentially have to drop a level from the work you were doing before.

Do you think one can get good jobs with ACCA or should he/she go for local accreditatins? Also how long can one wait to get a job?

  2. It depends on where you are, how big the family is, expectations and so on.

I personally don't think so. But some would disagree :)

Thanks for the reply, I've been doing lots of calculations on cost of living and income needed to live in melbourne. Many have shared that they are not saving at all per month and some even said they have to use money from their old savings as well.

  3. Certainly is hard to find a job, or a descent paid job (I guess depending on where you live)

We moved over on a 457 visa, sponsored through my wife's new job.

I used to be an IT manager in central london and want to avoid the commute into Melbourne (based in Geelong)

Don't mind starting at the bottom but at 40-45k (AUS) that is not what I had in mind.

Everyone states how good the salaries are, and in some respects they are, but not what I thought it would be.

Seems like everything that is happening is mainly in the bigger locations.

    :)

Hi sorry for the intrusion, but is 40-45k enough to live with for a family? Heard that rent is a lot to pay

  4. We are in a similar situation with 2 kids and are only breaking even each month sometimes not even. We could perhaps save some money on rent if we moved further out but then you have to weigh up the travel time versus time at home with kids, etc and feeling isolated, etc.

Would you mind if I ask if both parents work that you break even?

  5. Thought that accountants would remain on the list but will be accepting less of them.

So if it's that expensive in australia in general, can anyone share if a family with 2 young children make savings? Assuming both parents have average jobs. I know it will depend on certain factors but in general can we save money if we live a simple life?

  6. I've been reading it's difficult to get a job in Melbourne and on top of that cost of living is very high there. This is making me hesitate to move to Melbourne with my family as I am comfortable where I am at the moment. Anybody sharing the same fear or any advices please?

  7. Hello, i went to australia to to activate my PR and I applied for medicare, driving license, tax file number and opened a bank account. However things have changed in the meantime and I am thinking of moving back but I am still leaving option of returning to australia opened until visa expires. So can I not cancel my medicare, driving license and tax file number ? I know the bank account I might need to close it though just in case i do not return to australia

  8. Hi, I am thinking of whether to apply now to migrate or in some years time? Will it become more and more difficult to enter in Australia or will chances to migrate always be there?

  9. Hello all,

I need to apply for visa 189. I would like to know if I need to upload all documents at once when applying or can documents be applied once obtained later. I have not done medical and obtained PCC yet.

    Cheers
