Hi guys,
We are moving to Darwin 18th May and have been getting quotes from numerous companies to ship about 60 cubic feet over.
The quotes have been very variable...From £500-£800 depending on the company.
The cheapest has been from Clark & Rose, has anyone used them and what have you experiences been like?
We are worried that if we go with the cheapest one that they are cheap for a reason, but they are part of BAR & FIDI so surely they have to be ok? ....
What's everyone's thoughts?
Thanks

Does anyone know if we have been granted a 489 skilled state sponsored visa if we are allowed to enter Australia in a different state and visit family for a few weeks before heading to the state that sponsored us?
Have tried to find a contact number to get advised on immi.gov website with no luck!!
Also it mentions on our visa that we can work/live in regional Australia, does this mean we don't have to stay in the state that sponsored us?
Any help would be appreciated

Hey!!!
Well I am currently in a state of rambling excitement, as my 457 visa came through today! I haven't quite calmed down yet so apologies if anything doesn't make sense.
First, I'm struggling to find information on income tax, can anyone give me a link or a very brief explanation? - I have heard that there are breaks for living up here etc, but just cant seem to find much information. Also other than income tax, are there any other major taxes for Darwin that I will need to be aware of? I will be renting in the CBD. Will I have to pay anything like council tax?
Speaking of renting, I'm trying to budget for household bills etc, I will be living alone in a modern 1 bed apartment in the CBD - can anyone take a rough estimate as to monthly bills for gas / water / electric?
Lastly if there's anyone who would like to meet up when I arrive in 2 weeks and show me a couple of nice bars and maybe help me find some new friends - (I'm an adventurous and creative 31 year old chic who loves life, learning new things and travelling (previously lived in manila and new York)) - I would be so grateful! and will even shout the first drinks
I'm beyond excited
Cheers
Lucy

We applied for 190, got declined but offered us 489. I wrote a small essay in my own words (after researching NT) and although they didn't grant 190, they did offer 489.
Try giving them more about why you want to live there, about schools in the area, raising a family, and what you can bring to NT

We were offered the same Laura, we are going for it as its our only option. Ideally we would've liked to have had the option to go elsewhere in case we don't like it but hey beggers cant be choosers

We have been offered the same. Had the 190 declined but offered us the 489. This was mainly as we don't have any links to NT. (No family/friends/job offers etc)
We are going for it as its our only option! Glad to hear about the Medicare cards though, did you take out other health insurance as well?

Give me some good news please!
