  1. STILL NO WORD!!! Now I'm getting really tense. I just want an answer....like now! Lodged 24th March 2014, did my medical and PCC but not heard a peep. It's been 3 months and one day.....Any updates people? I heard some got a delay email. I didn't get that. I just want to get back out there :mask:

  2. Thanks Gidza. I should have been a bit more clearer. I know that the State do not have a say in the visa decision process and DIBP decides whether to grant visa or not based on the info provided\checks.

When I spoke to SA state, they had checked their allocation and only then they sent me the invitation. Knowing that a State has confirmed that they are in need of my occupation, DIBP just needs to follow it's due diligence on the visa process. If I understood correctly, DIBP also checks whether it's reached it's limit or not before granting the visa (assuming everything is ok with application). Surely, if each state is managing their own allocation on each type of visa, then this should not impact the visa process. Right?

I read somewhere that visas granted also includes the visas granted to each dependant applying with the principal applicant, and so one person may take up 4 visa grants with themselves, a wife and 2 children....hence running out of visas. Also, each state may check how many are available but don't communicate amongst themselves, so they may see the same amount available and submit their own applicants, but then DIPB have to do the fishing for the best first.....

  3. See my timeline below. Im an offshore applicant, single and desperate to get back to australia. If I get refused, it WILL break me. I love Oz!!!!

Still no case officer, or a delay email for that. It will be 8 weeks since I applied this monday (19th May 2014)

Fingers crossed - I see ACT have completely ceased any overseas applicants for 190 visas now as of 25th March in fact, until 1st July 2014.

Extremely tense right now. I think I'll be waiting until after July myself....

  4. Hi, I applied for my PCC checks and had my medical last week. I applied for 190 on 24th March 2014, no CO yet. Still waiting for PCC to arrive and I'll upload them immediately. From what Ive read, you can apply for your PCC and medical whenever you like, but your entry into Australia must not be any later than 12 months from your PCC, and so depending on the length of time for your application to be looked at, may only give you a few months to arrive in oz - which isn't a problem for me as I'll be going straight back as soon as the visa is granted.

    Hope that helps

  5. Applying from UK, ACT state sponsored. Lodged my 190 visa application with DIPB on 24th March, applied for UK and Australian PCC on 5th April, attended UK Medical 5th April (7-10 days to process), no case officer as yet (only been 2.5 weeks) so none expected yet.

My plan of attack is to upload ALL my documents before a CO is assigned and hopefully just receive a surprise email one morning with a visa grant, rather than chasing more paperwork and dragging the dreaded process out.

Just a note for others, once I applied for my visa, it wash't until I logged in to my account again that I realised I could upload all my docs such as skills assessment, IELTS etc. Then I also realised there was a link telling me to organise my medicals. Have a good look and navigate the site well people! :D

  6. Thanks for all your help guys.

Just for anyones info on bridging visa; I spoke with DIPB and you are only eligible for bridging visa A or B and can never go back up the alphabet on to a better bridging vas, furthermore, you cannot apply for the 190 visa whilst on anything after a bridging visa B. Also, bridging visa A and B can only be grafted once another substantive visa has been applied for.

  7. so...190 visa lodged - 65 points in total, all documents uploaded, just unsure whether I can apply for police clearances and medicals before I've been assigned a case officer or asked for them?

I had to leave oz because I didn't get my IELTS results in time and my visa expired the day before I got my results - 17 hours later to be precise.

  8. Thanks for the replies. Bit the bullet and packed my bags, cancelled the Bali flight and flew home to the UK instead. Flew at 11pm on Thursday, got my IELTS 16 hours later!! Anyway, visa lodged from home and now I'm awaiting a Case Officer. All documents uploaded apart from UK police clearance, Australia Police Clearance and medical...can I go ahead and apply for these now or do I have to wait until I'm asked for them? Anyone know?

  9. So I finish my working holiday visa in 12 days. I've been successful in getting state sponsored on a 190 visa, however, I complete my IELTS test tomorrow but don't receive my results until after my current visa expires. I'm British but need 8 in a lll bands for extra points. Is there anything I can do to gain a bridging visa as I can't apply for my 189 until my IELTS results are in my hand and they take 13 days. I don't want to overstay and that affect my new application, even that its only ONE day .... HELP? I really don;t want to have to leave as I get priority processing if I'm still in the country....My life is here already so leaving really can't be my only option - Can it?

Correction - 189 skilled state nominated.
