  1. Hi members,

Asking for a friend, she is seperated with 2 kids and status "SEPERATED" was clearly mentioned in the EOI. With the new points test, it was our assumption that she would be getting 10 additional points since she does not have a partner but that did not happen. Any members in the same boat? any thoughts as to why 10 points were not given?

    Regards,

  3. Hi All,

I am asking a tricky one on behalf of a friend. She is a student here in Australia and came here with her partner and daughter. Due to a domestic incident, court has put in an apprehended violence order against the partner for 2 years, he cant maintain any sort of contact with her and her daughter. My friend wishes to apply for her PR and was wondering if she needs her partner to sign the 1229 consent form for their daughter, provided her ex-husband has no visitation or contact rights with her daughter at all for the next 2 years.

    Regards,

  4. Hi Guys,

I need some info with regards to Engineers Australia assessment for migration. If someone has a bachelors and Masters in Environmental science and a PhD in Chemical engineering, will he be able to get a positive skills assessment as a chemical engineer??

  5. Hi,

Can you please share ref from the DIBP website because I have not been able to find it.

It is possible for the 489 to be extended for 1 year only to meet the requirements for the 887.

Either applicant from the 489 (primary or secondary) can the primary applicant on the 887 application if they meet the requirements.

  6. Dear All,

I have a query regarding subclass 489 family stream. What if someone is not able to fulfil the visa conditions for subclass 887(2 years in designated area with 1 year of full time work) in the 4 years of visa provided by 489? Can the subclass 489 be renewed? Secondly if the applicant does fulfil the work and designated area requirements and lodges the application for subclass 887, few months before 489 expires, lets say 2 months before 489 expires, and processing of 887 takes 6-12 months, how will such applicants be catered for by immigration, will they have to apply for some kind of bridging visa etc?

    Regards,

    Arq

  7. When you applied, your sponsor needed to be in a designated area.

You now have a visa that allows you to live in a specific regional area.

Do not mix the two up. They are not the same and I believe the designated area includes more areas so you do not want to accidentally breach your visa because you mix these up.

You do not have to stay in Adelaide or SA.

    Hi Bungo,

The VEVO says the below, that means I can stay/live/work in any designated area irrespective of from where my relative sponsored me. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Visa condition(s)8549 - While the visa holder is in Australia, the visa holder must live, study and work only in a designated area of Australia. This means anywhere in Australia except in:

    • Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong in New South Wales

    • Brisbane metropolitan area in Queensland.

A complete listing of designated areas of Australia by postcode is available.

    See:Designated Areas of Australia.

  8. Hi squeakf99,

I prepared the entire application for 489 myself, right from skills assessment to visa application. The process is not complicated at all and I found pomsinoz to be the most helpful website, why waste your 2200$ for paperwork that you can do yourself.

I will just wait for the skills assessment in case it's negative. I will also keep trying for the job offer and see if I can get annother agent to offer me a cheaper rate foor a "no visa, no fee". I'm waiting on a contract from True Blue, they said it will be a refund if I don't get the nomination.
  9. Hi All,

I have a question, for Subclass 489 family stream, the applicant is required to stay in the designated area where his sponsor stays or is he allowed to stay in any designated area? For instance, family sponsor lives in Adelaide (SA), can the 489 visa holder live in the designated areas of NSW?

    Thanks

    arq

  10. Hi Maryrose,

The process is quite simple. In my case, I waited for an invite on skill select. After receiving the invitation, the skill select account directs you to ImmiAccount page where you make your account. You have to fill in the online form and pay your visa fee. Once that fee has been paid, your immiAccount asks you to attach documents with your application.

  11. Hi Ben,

I have attached all the documents with the exception of police clearance and medical. Waiting for the CO allocation, any idea how much time it takes for visa grant for 489 family stream?

    Hi Arq,

Documents can only be attached to applications with a status of "In Progress".

You are advised to wait until your application is allocated to a case officer, who will ask you to provide any missing documents.

    Good luck.

    Regards,

    Ben.

  12. Hi everyone,

I have just lodged my 489 family stream visa and attached necessary documents with the exception of health, character, form 80 and statutory sponsor declaration. Should I wait for the CO to notify me to submit these documents?
