  1. Hi everyone,

My 309 was granted on 18th October. I applied around 18th April so it took about 6 months to get the visa. Although I don't think it makes a difference, my case was very straight forward - no kids, no divorces, no criminal history, etc. I always worked towards the 8-9month wait, so to have the visa granted already makes for a very sweet feeling. I can't wait to see my lovely partner in Oz in 3 days time. Boom!

All the best to my fellow applicants!

  2. Hi Poms,

I just had the medical this morning over in Knightsbridge, London. All went very smoothly as far as I could tell, was in and out in around 20 minutes. Now I thought that this was pretty quick so just wanted to check if that's normal or not, seems like a fair chunk of cash for a 15 minute check up. Anyone else had the medical part done this quickly?

    Thanks

I think the medical went for about 40minutes when you include the x-ray and other tests. Each appointment would be different considering we all have different medical histories.

  3. YYYAAAAYYYY!!!!

    309 Granted 5 mins ago!

We had some hiccups this week! My CO (DP) has left on indefinate leave with no return date or a referal address so we were worried that our visa would end up being granted at the 9 month...ONE PROBLEM THO... the criminal check (2nd one issued after the request of DP) was about to expire in a few weeks! We emailed another case officer ysday explained the sitution and today we recieved the grant from her! If Im not mistaken we hit he 7 mark!!!

To anyone who already has a visa, do you guys know how we present the visa at the airport? do we just print the letter off and keep it with me till we get to the boarder check? Also must I inform the airline company at all in advance?

Hope all the Jan appliers get good news soon!

Fab news. Congratulations! All the best for your new adventure :)

  4. Hi guys,

We applied for 309 to London on 8/8. I haven't had any acknowledgement from a CO yet? is this normal.. 2-3 Weeks? Will they email the 'applicant'? - if so should be keep an eye on our junk mail?

    THanks,

    Amo,

Apparently there's a backlog of applications as people were trying to beat the 1st July deadline when the fees went up. 2-3weeks of waiting for a CO at this point is likely. If you gave consent to correspond electronically then yes they will email you. I doubt it will go to junk mail as it is coming from a government department. It will depend on your settings on your email account. I'd give them a bell in a month if you've heard nothing.

    Good luck

    Good luck.

  5. Woo hoo! I got my request to leave for grant of visa today So relieved, and such a quick time frame too, only six and a half months, I am mega relieved as this has not been a smooth ride! You can see my stats at my signature, I've been in Aus a month on a tourist visa, medical was referred due to high BMI, but here I am! Now to plan a little trip to Bali or NZ!

Congratulations Tulip! Happy Days! Enjoy your trip away :)

  6. Hello and welcome `;0

You've already done your police check so the countdown clock is already ticking, so holding off for your medical makes no difference now. Depending on when your visa is granted you'll only have 3 or so months to validate rather than 6 had you done medical and police check at around 3 months after application. They ask people to wait for CO to request medical and police checks for this reason.

    Hi snifter,

Well there you go. I think due to the checklist having the police certs on it, we thought we had to include them. They came through a week before we sent our app to Oz house. Anyway, if we fall short we'll do them again - its only money right??? Hahaha!

  7. Hey, I applied in May with police checks front loaded, got asked for medicals with no 3 month wait either. Assume it's cos we already limited ourselves to an initial entry date of a year after the police check date so meds make no difference now. I was a bit keen and had my police checks ready mid march not expecting the whole thing to take quite so long. Ah well intend to go mid jan either way :) good luck to you!

Same to you lucyh88 - all the best with your app. Ahhhh the police checks - now that explains it - thank you :)

  8. Hi fellow PIOs!

My partner and I have also jumped on the Oz visa bandwagon and applied for a 309 in early April. I am the sponsor and he is the lucky applicant. We included police certs in the initial application and only a few days later we had a case officer and were asked to do the medical - which I see is odd as most people are told to hold off for 3 months. Anyway, that's all done and now we are waiting our 8-9months processing time. We've had very little contact with the case officer and intend on keeping it that way. I'm heading home in August and he will follow over a few months later on a tourist/visitor visa so that he can be a man of leisure for a few months and enjoy that beautiful Aussie summer. Hopefully we are on track for the visa - if not we'll get through it and go back to the drawing board.

Anyway, enough about us. After all the collating of documents, reading that Booklet 1 over a thousand times and accessing the UK High Commission website like a stalker, I hope I can offer some help to those who need it on this website. God knows I've read enough to have my masters in immigration law!

Shall update our details on that communal document soon.
