Out of curiosity how long did he get the visa for? Multiple entry with 6 months max stay and total 3 yrs visa for my dad.

I think you did the 600 visa for your Dad. The evisitor 651 is different I think, it’s just 1 year, allowed to enter 3 months at a time during that period.

I’m not too sure how the 600 works, maybe we should have done that one, not sure what the differences are.

Those who have applied for exemption can you tell me what you said to justify? I just put we want to visit our daughter who is PR as we’ve not seen her for two years. We are in good health and plan to stay with her in Victoria for 6 weeks.
    I’m hoping that’s ok?
also I couldn’t work out bulk lodgement attachment

template so I copied application saved it and attached it. Also attached their passports snd my Passport my PR (vevo check) plus a photo of us. Hoping that’s enough too.

Did you also include your birth certificate (I think you said you were applying on behalf of your parents)? Not 100% sure if it’s required, but I included it, as proof that my dad is a parent of an aus citizen

@falpat Any update on your Dad visa?

No, nothing since the exemption was approved. Seeing other people (like your Dad) who applied way before us, I think maybe we have a while to wait. But hoping it will still be less than 31 days!

My parents have applied for 651 and travel exemptions on 1 November. They fly to Australia on 8 December so are very nervous the visas etc wont be processed in time. Any other recent timelines out there?

I have a very similar timeline to you. Exemption was approved after 7 days, still waiting on visa… fingers crossed

For information I applied for a 651 visa on 21st September, and status is still received, I have exemption to travel granted.

Hi @Pillar_85 when did you get your exemption granted? I'm hoping that once that's granted you get priority for the visa application.

We appiled for my Dad's exemption last Thurs 28 Oct, and it was granted yesterday (4 Nov), so it also took 7 days. He applied for the visa the day before (27 Oct), so hoping it gets approved soon now.

I'm curious as well. I applied for exemption last Monday and after 7 days (5 working days) I got approval, however the 651 visas for my parents are still in "Received" status.
I applied for my father's Visa in September 2020 😐

Thanks, that’s really helpful regarding the exemption timeline (I did my dad’s last thurs night, fingers crossed it’ll be 7 days too!).

I’ve read on another thread in this forum that you are meant to apply for the visa, then the exemption & link the two. And that the visa doesn’t get approved until the exemption is approved. Not sure if that helps at all in your situation.

651 applications are still open and being processed. If you hold an eVisitor eligible passport, you should be able to ignore the somewhat ambiguous warning message and complete an application.

Hi Paul, do you know what current approval time are like for the 651? is the immi website accurate - 31 days? Seems so long for people hoping to travel for Christmas!

We haven't booked anything yet, dependent on the outcome and length of the visa/exemption process, but would love them to come for Xmas but i appreciate it's a very expensive long shot, so probably Feb/Mar next year...

Really glad I found this thread as we’re going through the same process with my dad.

he applied for the evisitor (651) last night & then did the exemption, although he thinks he missed uploading some docs & isn’t sure they were accepted when he reuploaded.

the plan is for him to fly on 8 Dec. But the current wait times are 31 days (for 75% of applications) for the 651 visa. Does anyone have any info on whether this is accurate?

really great to hear Clyde114 has seen an exemption processed in 4 days, that gives me hope!

if anyone else has timelines/info to share that would be great!

  8. I've just noticed this on the Border.gov.au website, which looks to be new. I'm assuming the new form will only need to be filled in by people applying from now on, but perhaps this is why it is slowing down if they're becoming stricter?

On 14 December 2015, new criminal and civil penalties and visa cancellation provisions has been introduced as part of a 'payment for visas' framework that allows for sanctions to be imposed on a person who asks for, receives, offers or provides a benefit in return for visa sponsorship or employment (that requires visa sponsorship).

For further information, please see: Work visa scams.

  9. Hi,

I just have a quick (hopefully) question. My 457 visa was approved on 2 Aug 2013, I was working full time on a contractor basis at that time and then took 2 weeks unpaid leave at the end of August and went onto a full time contract on 2 Sept. Do you know if I have to wait until 2 Sept 2015 to put my application in, or can I start the process on 2 Aug?

    thanks!

  10. Thanks. We have enough time to do the training, but we just want to make sure we do it right. They will be reluctant to pay 2% to the TAFE, if they can pay 1% towards training.

Do you have a link to any information about the 40%/60% ratio of directors? I haven't seen that anywhere.

Also what do you mean by it takes less than an hour to get the documents??

And do you know if training can go towards people who are contractors or work part time? We have a bookkeeper, but she only works around 1 day a fortnight.

    Thanks!!

  11. I’m thinking forward a bit and trying to ensure the company I work for meets the training benchmarks for when I go for the 186 via the Transition Stream.

The company is really small and when we did the 457 visa we were advised that only Australian residents and Australian citizens were able to have the training. We were also told the directors weren’t able to do the training. This meant that only 1 person in our company was able to do the training.

Now that I’m looking into it for the 186 I can’t see anywhere that it specifies that directors can’t do training. I’ve found some places where it says Australian residents and Australian citizens must do the training, but that’s usually in documents relating to the 457.

Does anyone have any clarification or immi links that give more details?

    Thanks!
