  1. I haven't done a critical care course as yet but plan to do one here. I don't know how it works in Perth (different states have different classifications of nurses) Here in Canberra, there are level 1 Nurses (equivalent of A4C band 5) and level 2 Nurses (equivalent of A4C band 6. For a level 1 position you don't need the course but to advance as level 2 you do.

The whole process is very stressful, or it may just be that I found it stressful as I had many additional stressors leading up to leaving the UK. Desperately trying to get our house renovated ready for rental ( doing all the work ourselves, me as project manager). During that time my mother in law became critically ill and got admitted to my Old ITU (so had to try to fit In hospital visits etc) , then she passed away 4 days before we flew. It was hell. It's all done and dusted now though, and we hopefully have tenants moving in to our UK hours next week. Fingers crossed it's all finally coming together.

  2. That is fantastic news pinkest lady congratulations working on application as we speak and driving me insane you may be sorry u said that lol just a few questions if you don't mind..... Feel free to ignore haha

    1) when you educational transcript do you just mean scores for each module as in percentages as I have them (fingers crossed)

    2) did your university of training have to send information direct to APHRA confirming accreditation along with NMC as doesn't ask on application but does on website? Already done this for anmac costing a fortune

    3) it's asks for information on course content on medicines management, pharmacokinetics etc which I don't have (also on website)

    4) my solicitor is a notary public u think this is sufficient??

Thankyou so much pinkest lady so glad your on this forum finally some sound advice....... Enjoy your couple of weeks as a lady of leisure, but I know what you mean Iam hoping to get work within a month cannot bear the thought of not nursing, what is your dream job by the way? xxxx

I'll do my best lol! Yes I meant the scores for each module but it has to come directly from The university of training. And that should cover the whole pharmacokinetics etc, as I didn't have to send anything extra for that. If your solicitor is a notary public that's fine, as long as he signs the copies as a notary not just solicitor and he has to use the exact wording specified. I'd be surprised if you didn't have to pay a fee for this.

The job I have got is an ITU nurse, but my dream job in the future is to work on the helicopters for retrievals and rural emergencies etc. x

  3. Thank you so much pinkest lady I totally agree visa 189 application was a breeze compared to this just one last question did you apply before ur visa was granted as still waiting on mine and it's ask for this document is it worth me applying without it ?? Again thank you sense at last aphra emails are not even helpful...have u found a job yet, hope I've settled in and good luck with u new adventure xxx

You're welcome Loulou. Yes I applied before my visa was granted, it's not a problem. When you get your eligibility to register email it will ask you to present yourself to an AHPRA office once you are in the country to confirm your ID. You're visa, once granted, will be electronically attached to your passport and AHPRA can access it that way and print it off themselves. I agree their emails are not helpful, but the people o dealt with at the AHPRA office were excellent. I had arranged an interview for my perfect job at canberra hospital for two days after I arrived and got the job! Was super chuffed, and it was a massive weight off my mind. I am just awaiting my police check (yes, another one!!) the two I have already had for visa and then AHPRA aren't good enough lol! I'm hoping to start at the beginning of September. I am desperate to get back to work, getting very twitchy about not having a routine. Best of luck to you and if I can help in anyway get in touch, I'll do my best. Xx

  4. Thanks pinkest lady aim hoping to getting a letter saying i can register before I move in April, perhaps this is positive thinking.....sending everything thing in next week apart from visa as still waiting, in regards to certifying is a police office or doctor ok any advice would be grateful as this application is stressing me out

I feel your pain. That should be totally doable, I sent mine in end of April, was received May 1st. I got my registration week before last. And got the 'eligible to register' email a couple of weeks before that. I was in the country by then so couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried. I found AHPRA to be the hardest thing to do out of everything including visa 189 application. With regards to certifying docs, a doctor or policeman won't do unless you're in Australia. It has to be a notary public or a justice of the peace (I paid £150 to get all mine certified). A solicitor won't do, it can only be an NP or JP. Frustrating I know, but eventually the hoops that you have to jump through do disappear and you soon forget them. Best of luck! Oh and make sure you get an academic transcript of education, which specifically states the scores you achieved. Not just a generic breakdown of modules the degree covered. that's what held my application up.

  5. Unfortunately you do have to do another check through fit2work. The changes can in in February this year. Total con and just a money making scheme. I've had hell with AHPRA but if it makes you feel any better when you get here they are a lot better. That's my experience anyway.

  6. Can anyone help me? I had all my documents certified by A solicitor who also put commissioner of oaths on each document - but apparently this isn't enough....!? I am so confused!! The list then provided says things like Teacher can do it but I didn't think a Teacher could?? Now I am really confused!!! Can someone help me and tell me exactly who you all had your docs certified by? Also because my manager didn't date her signature the date of the letter was not enough and I have to re-send this too - what a blooming mess!!!

That's only within Australia. Outside it can only be done by a notary public or a justice of the peace. A solicitor won't cut it. I had to pay to have all mine re certified as I had originally gone to a solicitor.

  7. Guys what is the difference of certificate of good standing vs certificate of registration status?

I am working in Oman as nurse. It seems Ministry of health is not issuing good standing anymore. And they said id better ask my employer for it. Please advice. I dont think my employer will issue that unless i resigned from work..

I asked AHPRA this when I phoned them last time and they told me they are one and the same, they just have different names for it. Just to add to the confusion lol! I got my 'verification of registration' sent directly to AHPRA by the NMC.

  8. Hi @Pinkestlady I too had to wait a long time to get NMC to send my certificate of good standing. Have you asked for an extension from AHPRA? If you explain what NMC have said and ask for an extension they may give you one. Also your uni transcripts should include the number of theory and number of placement hours you did at uni, is this missing from your transcript? I only ask as I had to ask for an additional transcript to cover this as it wasn't on my original academic transcript.

It's not a certificate of good standing, it's a verification of registration I have requested. Do I need to get a certificate of good standing? No one mentioned that. I am planning to phone ahpra Monday morning to ask for a n extension and for them to clarify what they want exactly as it's not clear. All my transcript really says is the theory and practical hours I spent on each topic. This was enough for ANMAC but clearly not for AHPRA. I'm dreading having to go back to my uni for more info as they are so unreliable, they have two secretary's both as useless as each other. They delayed my ANMAC assessment because they didn't send my transcripts and the delayed my visa application for the same reason. I really despise having to depend upon others. Just to check, my transcript was about 4 pages long, does that sound about right to you? Thanks for replying x

  9. I am having a major wobble today. Not the first tears I have spent throughout this whole process. I just phoned the NMC to check that the verification of my registration that I requested be sent to AHPRA at the beginning of April has in fact been sent. Only to be told by the very obnoxious lady on the other end of the line, that they were in the process of sending it out in the next couple of weeks!! Am I missing something here? Surely it's just a case of print off and send?! They were quick to take the fee payment though. That's one thing they have been very efficient about. When I explained my situation (that AHPRA have given me till the 1st June to get all the required documents to them) the woman said 'we are doing it as quickly as we can!' I asked why it had taken so long, given I requested it beginning of April, it took them almost three weeks to send me the pack, I sent it back that day and the payment was taken 2 days later. That was 2 weeks ago. She just said 'it will be sent before the 1st of June, that's all I can tell you.' Being sent is great, arriving in Australia would have been more reassuring.

I could swing for someone honestly! I absolutely hate having to rely on others to do things as they always seem to let me down.

  10. I have applied to ahpra for registration as a nurse and need some advice or guidance. I sent my application form in, along with all the documents they request and the fee. I got all my docs certified by a notary public, wax seals and all, and paid £150 for the pleasure. Included in these certified docs were colour copies of my degree cert and course transcripts. However, today I received an email from ahpra requesting further information.

The reg status is on its way to them, but I am baffled by the top request? I've already sent them. Anyone applied recently who had similar problems? I have been given until the 1st June to supply the documents. I would love for just one part of this whole process to be easy, alas, it is not meant to be.

  11. I have a job offer, a contract and a start date???? I have 3 months worth of living expenses and I have around $5-$10k extra as emergency funds, which hopefully we wont need and can go towards a deposit. How on earth is that unrealistic?

Also, if you leave the country before October you will have been out of the country for over six months of the UK tax year and will therefore be able to reclaim any tax paid you have paid up until then. Extra dosh!!
