I think there's a facility in the UK to pay extra and get a passport renewal in a week but it involves filling in a paper application, making an appointment at the Passport Office and attending in person. Obviously, that's not going to happen if you're in Perth.

I think you're stuck with the usual Passport renewal time, which is officially six weeks but was much less for me when I renewed mine last year. I think it was back within 10 days.

How long till you travel? I know that Indonesia is very strict on this rule so don't risk travelling on the passport with less than 6 months validity.

Thanks for the reply. I only have 11 days till travel. I saw on British high commission website that I can get him an emergency travel doc and get a visa for him before leaving. So I will soon find out if it works. Thanks again.

  2. Sorry I realised I might have written on a wrong forum in kids forum.

Can anyone advise on how to renew a child British passport in one week. I booked to travel to Indonesia but realised the child passport expires in four months from now. They require six months before he travels. Please advise.

  3. Am Ready - when you apply and employer sponsors, you both 'commit' to a further 2 years of employment. There's virtually no penalty of not complying with that although if DIBP felt you applied fraudulently (i.e. had no intention of staying with employer), there's a possibility they could cancel your visa.

Menuk - you can respond to the request saying you're currently overseas until xxxx date, and ask if they can grant you an extension to provide the documents immediately upon your return. I'm not sure about the medical, but I think it'd be easier to simply get that done when you return.

Falpat - there are no forms, it's an online application.

    Hi

Thank you very much for the response.

  4. it varies, it can take 6 to 12 wks or longer. it might depend with how busy they are, or if your paperwork is not in order or even where you sent your application.

There is a thread entitled "Whats happening in AHPRA if you want to read more.

Thanks for the info any idea how long it takes for the letter of eligibility once the application has been lodged?
  5. Yes and yes.

You can stay in Australia indefinitely. If you never leave then you never need another visa. The issue comes if you want to leave the country and come back. Then you need a return residence visa.

So you mean if you go back to uk for 3 weeks holiday you will have to apply for a returning resident visa. I don't understand.

  6. I received mine later the same day via email and then it arrived in the post a few days later too

Thank you xlornax. I went to brisbane office monday 17 february and they promised same day but am still waiting. I have already rang them a couple of times but they said they are still assessing. Am getting worried they will ask for something else when I have already left to go back to uk.

  8. Hi there

I heard from one of the agencies that you no longer need to complete AHPRA registration for international Nurses in Australia. They said you can apparently

sent your proof of address and I.D from whatever country you are and you will be fully registered. Can anyone confirm this please, I tried to search it on AHPRA website and couldn't find it.

  9. Hey hoo, I got my ahpra in principal registration approved so am eligible. Thanks for the support guys. Now the question is I want to go on 457 visa with public hospitals. Does anyone know how I can get the job or how I can go about it. Even agencies I don't mind. Thanks for your help guys.
