Received the email on Friday (4th October) telling me to arrange my travel to depart Australia so my visa can be granted....6 months and 3 weeks from date of application...woohoo.

Departing for Vanuatu on 12th November...so visa grant will be 8 months...

Those visas do come, even if they feel like forever! SO HAPPY

Feeling really disappointed After seeing some of the March applications being granted so soon, I had hoped that I would get some positive news regarding mine; I applied 14th March. The waiting has been driving me insane; I feel in total limbo and plus planning a wedding on top does not help! I got a response from my case officer today, simply saying that she would give me 28 days notice to book my flights to go offshore...but still no visa grant date! I thought applicants got 2 weeks notice...?Confused...so this now thinks my visa will take longer. I know I sound like a whinge but this process is so stressful and it doesn't help that I do a job which works with asylum seekers and their visas!!! Still hoping it will be soon...

Contacted RE, she confirmed she had received my medicals and all is well with my application. Great news...I'm flying out Thursday and after 6 months I'll finally be reunited with my fiancée. I was also granted a working holiday visa as advised by my CO to enable me to work whilst I await the grant...Australia here I come.

Hi, congratulations on getting your application in. I applied in March and was assigned RE too. In the early stages, I exchanged quite a lot of emails and contact and she was most helpful...so i have no complaints. I did attempt to contact her after my medical but didn't get a response. Good luck.

Does anyone know how we find out if our medical results have been uploaded ok? I attended Spire, Manchester last Friday and they informed me it would take 5-7 days, but they also said they had problems with their IT systems ...

I've emailed my CO but I don't want to keep bothering her.

I think that's finally the last piece of the Visa jigsaw completed.

Yeeek, I emailed my case officer yesterday to find out if we'll need to submit any more info as we want to go over in August (8 month mark is October). She said that she had everything she needed to meet the 309 requirements and granted that the medical goes ok, we're in the clear! I'm so relieved! A tiny bit sad because I thought we would get the 100 (been together for four years this year) but I'm happy with the 309!

Medical booked for the 13th of May (three months after lodging), fingers crossed!

That's brilliant news tulip. I have my medical tomorrow, so fingers crossed, even more so for a November eight month grant!!!

I didn't receive any indication like you that there wouldn't be any problems, which makes me wonder! I was told to wait 3 months before doing my medical just.

I am wondering should I email my CO and ask if there will be any issues later on in the process, or is it likely I will get my grant.

I don't suppose it can hurt to email them. As soon as they got in contact with me to inform me they had received my PMV application and could I attend my medicals, I emailed her back and just asked if she thought my application was straight forward and did she think I would need to provide any additional information. I guess she can't say simply that I will get the visa but she very much indicated in her reply that everything was ok. She has even just contacted me via telephone to assist me with additional visa options when I leave in June, as I currently hold a six month tourist visa but wanted to query if this could be changed to a work and holiday and want to await my grant in Australia.

I think it varies on case officers and their work load, but I can't complain with her so far...Its an awful enough process as it is, its nice to know they attempt to make it as pain free as possible. Good luck

I just received word from my case officer, RE. She said she was satisfied with all the evidence I had provided within my initial application and could not see there being any problems. So pending that information she has requested I get my medicals completed as soon as possible and providing these are ok, I have to await my grant in 8-9 months. She gave me advice etc about going to Australia to be with my fiancée whilst I await the grant and how I do not need to return to the UK but just need to be offshore when the visa is confirmed.

I hope and would hardly think she could be inclined to comment if she has no intentions of granting my visa...

It seems that different CO's do things differently.

 

Some, upon initial contact (the email you get assigning your CO), give the HAP number and request that Medicals be done three months after date of application. Other CO's get in touch again around the three month mark with the HAP number advising to get it done then.

 

I would assume that if the CO requires further evidence from the start, they wouldn't give you the HAP number until their request for further info has been satisfied.

Mine have been requested straight away, no request for them to be completed three months after application, and I only submitted my application two weeks ago. I have had all my evidence returned and minus the medicals (police check already sent with application) I have not been asked for anything else. I hope this is all a good sign

Awesome news. My case officer, RE, was confirmed last week. She recommended I go and have my medicals done, but nothing was mentioned about a three month wait. They also returned my evidence and nothing else has been requested. I've sent an email asking if she thinks my application is a straight forward case- not because I expect a quicker grant but because I don't want an unexpected stresses later down the line.

Sydney bound on 6 month tourist visa, June 27th and that's exciting for now!

Does anyone know how long it takes to get allocated a case officer at the London embassy? They took the money last week but I'm going crazy just waiting to know someone has my application.

I have applied and been granted a 6 month tourist visa to allow me to gain entry and await a decision on my PMV. I go in late June and think it is less than likely that my application will get approved prior to late Nov/ Dec.

My question is, would it be possible to change my tourist visa to a work and holiday visa to allow me to work whilst I await the outcome of my PMV. I am 24 and have never previously held a WHV. If I cannot it would not be the end of the world as my fiancée is able to support me, it would just help with wedding costs and keep me from boredom.

...I think this is something my CO may need to answer...or maybe someone could help?

Thank you. I think so, its just so frustrating. But it's not like I can do anything about it anyway, because I'm three months away from completing my MA in social work. I did consider the skilled working visa but that just seemed and then my partner proposed at Christmas and we were advised by an immigration agent that this would probably be the best option.

I'll just have to get used to being a lady of leisure for a few months when I arrive- obviously can't work on the tourist visa.

Can I ask- do you have a return flight out of Oz? This worried me somewhat when getting to border control.

I have just joined the site and have found it very useful over the past six weeks whilst I have been completing my Prospective Marriage Visa application, Subclass 300. I submitted my application to the London office on the 13th March, sent next day delivery and checked my bank to find they had taken the money the following day 14th March (same day it was received ) I'm not just waiting to hear from the office and hopefully will be allocated a case officer in the next week or so. I submitted my Police check with my application, so hopefully the final piece of the jigsaw is just to attend a medical.

We have been advised the same, 8-9 month wait I am travelling to Sydney on June 27th however, on a 6 month tourist visa which has already been approved- prior to PMV lodgement. Wedding is booked for mid January and have been advised by the department that I can just jump on a plane to NZ or Bali when my CO confirms the grant.

I have had all sorts of stresses with this application. My main concern was that me and my partner have not spent enough time together in person, approx 2.5 months, due to my Masters degree commitment and he works for the department of education in Aus. However, I firmly believe this shouldn't go against us because this is not stipulated in the criteria for the visa. Obviously by the time I arrive in Aus, until the date of grant I would have spent six solid months with him.
