Has anyone tried to use their UK No Claims Bonus discount in OZ ? Are they transferrable ?

Just about to fill in the AQIS B534 form and in 2 minds as to what to declare and how much detail we need to put in without going overboard. So if I'm a bit conservative on the detail will it come back to bite me ?

A quick question.

We're off to Oz shortly for good and took the opportunity to renew the kids passports as they were due to expire early next year and thought it would be easier and cheaper if we renewed them from the UK.

Now the new passports have come back and they don't have the visa stamp in it which was present in the old passports.

Are we ok to enter Oz with the new passports but also take the old passports that have the visa stamp in it or do we have to do something with the new passports before we go to get the visa transferred from the old to the new !!

Thought as much. One of the agents last week let it slip that it's £1500 to ship the container regardless of the agent you use. And considering that you could make a straight profit on the container I thought it was worth looking at.

Probably a non started but has anyone considered or actually bought a shipping container in the UK, used it to ship their belongings to Oz then sold it over there ?

Just trying to keep the costs down and sensing an opportunity to cut out the middle man.

If you have a bike case, Parcel2Go will do it for £98. I just sent a 25kgs suitcase and used LuggageMule although they just seem to be the middlemen and they use Parcel2Go. So cut them out and you can send it for £98. Took just 4 days to get there - well impressed.

I took my road bike with me on holiday a few years back and the expected it at customs. I was well prepared and as long as it's clean including tyres and wheels they are fine about it. They took a quick look at mine and could see I made a real effort to ensure it was clean.

We are looking at moving a 20ft container and residue in a movecube. We've got a good rate on the container £3250 20ft and £5000 for the 40ft but we were then looking at Movecube for the residue that wouldn't go in the 20ft container and have too much fresh air in the 40ft albeit it's a cracking price.

So I used the online quotation system on the movecube website and got a price of £940 for a large cube going from Glasgow to Sydney but it also just stated that there was additional charges on top of that but not specified. I've just called them up and the "additional charges" for the other end come in at $858 so in total we're now looking at £1417 for a large cube which is 218 cu ft or in effect 3.7ft of a container which is more than 2 times the cost per ft of a 20ft container and 3 times as much if your comparing it against the 40ft container.

I was led to believe that MoveCube was the cheaper option for moving residue volume albeit their timescales aren't great but at these rates i'd be cheaper with using my existing agent on their own "groupage rates".

Are these movecube rates in line with what everyone else paid ?

Have you tried using Skyscanner, it's amazing when you price up a flight how much the prices changes if your flexible over dates.
