  3. Hi we are going to Melbourne to live and we are not sure how to send over our  goods as we are going to apply for 804 visa on shore and on the forums it says you have to show your visa but if we have only got a tourist visa what do we do, also can we put all the goods that we are sending over in our sons name to make it easy then we can just arrive with our tourist visa and then apply for our 804, also do the removal company come about two weeks before you go if so we will have to rent somewhere ( will be asking these questions to removal companies as well  just would like answers from people who have done it)

    many thanks

Are you living in the UK at the moment?  If so, you'll be covered for essential treatment by Medicare (the Australian equivalent of the NHS).   If you're living in some other country at the moment, then you'll need to check whether there's any arrangement between the Australian government and that country.

The snag with Medicare is that, unlike the NHS, it's not completely free.  For that reason, a lot of ordinary Australians have private health cover, too. As a visitor, and while you're on a bridging visa, you can't get the normal health insurance but you can get Overseas Visitor Insurance. Here's an example of the kind of cover you can get:

Hi thanks for all you information very helpful, we will have sold our house end of February we are going to Spain for 2 months then flying out to Melbourne end of April so will we qualify for Medicare  because we spent time in Spain and also will this effect our police check when asked for, ( we will go into vistorhealthcover information you sent us )

    many thanks

  7. Hi could someone please tell how much it is going to cost for my wife and I to move to Australia our son is a resident we are hoping to apply this year I have searched and searched every possible web and can't find how much you pay it tells you how long you have to wait I know you have to send off one amount for both of you and then it is so much each for the last part I know about health checks police checks but trying to work out the full cost is near impossible

    Many thanks

  8. Hi our son has moved to Coffs Harbour and we are hoping to move there when we sell up, is it easy for a 60 plus man to get a driving job or a job I believe it is more of a tourist place and also what is the rental like there could you get a rental for about €1400 to €1600 a month, I will be going with my wife, also a reasonable area not out in the country I know it is not has big as the city so if if any of you happy helpful people could help me I would be very grateful

    many thanks

    Charlie M

  9. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks chaps so am I right in thinking we could go to oz on a 600visa then straight away apply for a 143 visa if it has not been granted within 12moths we apply for 3month visa hoping 143will be granted within the 3month then go offshore when visa is granted or is this to simple

  10. Hi all happy new year just returned from adelaide called in at immi office ask if we could go to oz on 600 visitor visa 12months while there apply for 143visa bridging visa kicks in after 12months he said yes that's ok but is it for over 65s. Only or could we do it that way thanks :cool::cool:

  11. No. You don't apply for bridging visas. They are issued automatically if you apply for a substantive visa while onshore and also being on a substantive visa. If that visa is an off shore visa then you just have to leave when your tourist visa expires.

Thanks am I led to beleive the following. Apply for holiday visa s then while in oz apply for 600 then apply for 143 bridging visa already kicked in. Confused.com:cool: As I say we would rather be in oz than here

  12. Hi all is this correct if we apply for 600visa in uk then fly out to oz apply for bridging visa when 600 ends then apply for 143 visa the reason being we would rather be in oz than here waiting for 143 hope this makes sense ta
