xlornax - Thank you so much for your support...it may have sounded different to them but I really don't think any of my posts deserved the responses I got.....I feel bullied and yes was ready for leaving the forum but its such a hive of information that I've decided to stay...Thanks again and no doubt I'll have some more horrid responses. x

  2. Oh dear...this post has just created some really unwelcome comments.....especially the ones that are a personal attack!! I am saying nothing more..all I wanted was some advise and thanks to those who have provided this....I will continue my application and hopefully it will be a positive outcome!

  3. It'd be a very rare qualification that enabled one to teach 3-18. Primary, certainly, but secondary requires subject specialization. I take it the PGDE is the Scottish equivalent of a PGCE.

Yes it is..if you look at my other reply then you will see i mentioned subject specialisation.

  4. Crickey this is the Spanish inquisition!! I think if you looks closely at my reply you will see that I have answered most of your questions but just incase you really are finding it difficult to understand and I feel you clearly all are: -

    I have a 4 years honours degree

I then have a PGDE NOT PGCE which is a higher ranking qualification than the PGCE as it is a full diploma and not certificate in PRIMARY EDUCATION....it covers the 3-18 curriculum and yes I can teach in secondary as well as I can specialise in specific subjects if I have experience of this!

I am currently teaching a year 1 class at the moment and have taught in the early years for 3 years.

I applied to AITSL 2 weeks ago

I wish to teach any stage up to Year 6 in OZ but would prefer infants!

Hope this is clears everything up!!

  5. Hi all

Sorry for the confusion..but I am a Primary teacher who has 3 years experience teaching. I am an infant teacher who can teach from the ages 3-18. I have applied to AITLS and am awaiting approval but as far as qualification matching goes I meet all of AITSL Criteria. I have PGDE which is a diploma and not a certificate in primary education and also have an honours degree. I have applied for an early childhood teacher and have been told that from 1st January 2014 you need to have your skills assessed by another authority called ACECQA and after filling this form in yesterday reached the part where you do need to have birth-2 experience to even be considered for assessment. I am on the offlist on most states with only WA having me available but on a schedule 2 where I do need to have a job offer.......Hope this clarifies all your questions...I was only looking for some answers.....

  6. Hi Everyone

Im a Infant Primary School Teacher who is really disheartened because my dream of getting to OZ has became impossible!!! I am totally gutted as Ive been planning this for the past 2 years and now Im at the stage where I have the experience the money and the qualifications to do this..........I cant even apply for an Early Childhood Teacher as they need me to have experience in birth - 2 room which I dont have.......I cant believe that this has happened....anyone in the same position or have any advice for me.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. You will need 8s in your IELTS as this will give you the 20 points. I did it on my 3rd attempt as my reading let me down twice 7 and 7.5!! Im going to WA and just about to send off my paperwork for skills assess......good luck with IELTS and dont give up if you dont get it first time round!

  8. Thanks for advice guys....i knew I would need extra documents for WA but TeacherBen thats great news!! I did read that but wasn't sure if I could do this....will defo keep you in mind for future advice etc.....so excited that things are moving forward now.....will be really thorough when doing paperwork!

  9. No not yet...I need to get my birth certificate as I only have an abbreviated version and when I receive my transcript through I'll get it all done at once...I have a friend who's sister in law is a lawyer and she can sign my docs for a bottle of wine...hoping it is all done within the nxt 2 weeks and I can then get my app in to AITSL

  10. Hi all

I have been looking at the application this morning and I have been qualified for 3 years now...when submitting your qualifications does it have to be a full transcript from the university or can you just submit your actual degree certificate? If not then do I have to then spek to the university to get this detailed transcript as I dont think I have this?? I sat the PGDE..Thanks x
