  1. Hi,

I am after a little bit of advice from anyone who may be in the Project management industry in Australia....

I currently work for a defence company in the UK and my job title is Senior Project Engineer, I have been in this role nearly 3 years but I don't have any qualifications for Project management i.e. a degree or certifications.

I have the opportunity to take the Foundation and Practioner Prince2 Project management certification (but at a cost to myself) and I was wondering whether taking this course and receiving this qualification would be more beneficial to me for me getting a job in projects in Australia? rather than just having 3 years work experience in the role.

    I hope this makes sense.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    thank you

    Danielle

  3. Hey My partner is hopefully about to be granted his 190 visa after being nominated by NSW. After reading through the terms and conditions of the visa its stated to have no LEGAL obligation to leave NSW or live elsewhere, just a moral obligation. I am just wondering if when we go to Australia could we fly straight into QLD as that is where there is more work for my partner and where he knows he could find work as we spent a year here on a working holiday visa, or would we have to fly into NSW. Also if he was applying for jobs in NSW and QLD before we were due to fly out and got offered a job in QLD, would that be a problem? Thanks for your help

Hi Danielle, The Form 80 is now being requested more and more frequently. If you did receive a IMMI Request and Checklist and the case officer asked for "Personal particulars for character assessment" they were really asking for a Form 80 to be completed. If they did not ask for this, they may still come back asking for it, so if you want to be a step ahead, just in case they do ask for it, you may want to download it and complete it and have it ready to be loaded up onto the system if it is requested. The form is usually requested from each adult visa applicant. Here is the link: https://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/80.pdf Just a word of warning: the form is badly formatted and often fails to save the information you have typed in (you sit there for an hour typing it up, you go to save, and then it crashes or you find the info didn't save). So you might be better off printing it out, completing it by hand and then scanning in the completed and signed version.
    thank you :)

Hi, they may well not ask for it, but just in case they do I would get it completed now. Its a nightmare of a form, sooooo long and some questions may take you a little time to answer. For example they want to know all the jobs you've ever had (Inc dates) every time you have left the country in the last 10 years (Inc dates), it is quite time consuming. I was asked for form 80 and form 1221 for both myself and my husband, luckily I had already completed these so I could just upload them. It is best to be prepared I would say and just have it ready to go should they ask for it. Don't forget to complete one for your partner also if they are included on the visa application. Good luck with it all
    Thank you very much :)

  6. Hi, I have applied for the NSW 190 - on the 10/08/16 they asked for more documents ( just our police certs as we were waiting on them to come through the post) I uploaded these docs on 11/08/16. I was wondering if you could advise me of a timeline of how quickly/ slowly the decision will take from submitting the docs to getting a yes or no? also, Form 80? I have just read on the border.gov website that a 'complete' application has the Form 80 completed? I have never heard or read anywhere before about the form 80 nor can I see anywhere on my application where I need to upload this form? Can you advise if I do need to complete a form 80? If I do, where do I send this or what section do I upload this too? Thank you :) Danielle

  7. Hi, I have submitted an app for NSW 190 - I completed the Form 1221 and have had a request for more documents (they just wanted our police certs as we were waiting on them!) our police certs have now been uploaded but we haven't been asked for a Form 80 to be completed nor did I know that we needed to complete a Form 80?! Am I best off completing this or waiting until they ask me for it, if they ever do? Thanks :)

  8. Hi,

this morning we received our ITA for NSW 190.... I am going on my husbands visa and on the application it has obviously asked for my details and my passport details ... Here is my problem..

we only got married last week & I have not got a new passport yet as we go on our honeymoon in 2 weeks to America ... I don't want to order a new passport before the honeymoon as everything is booked in my maiden name but I can wait nearly 5 weeks to apply for our visa (we are on America just under 3 weeks)

Has anybody else had a similiar issue? Can I apply for the visa with my current maiden name and passport in this name and update at a later date with my married name and passport? if so, would I say we are already married?

Any my help would be brill! Thanks :)

  9. Hi Dan -

I believe you received an invitation from NSW to apply for NSW sponsorship for a sc190 visa - the information you're asking about would normally be provided to the immigration dept (DIBP) after you are approved by NSW for state sponsorship and NSW then causes DIBP to issue you an invitation to apply for the sc190 visa.

    Hope this helps -

    Best,

    Mark Northam

hi, thank you for your reply! Usually how long after you have applied to the NSW application do you hear a response from them to say you can apply for the sc190?

its been almost 3 weeks since we applied and I am unsure of timescales to hear back.

    Thanks :)

  10. Hi,

my partner and I applied for the NSW 190 visa last night, we received our invitation to apply, completed the form, uploaded all his evidence & paid the $300 fee to them. However I am concerned that I have missed something or done something wrong so was after some advice if possible?

    1) the application didn't ask for any documents to do with me as his dependant? As I am going with him should my information not have been input on the application?

    2) once we paid the fee we got the 2 emails ... 1 to say we had paid and 1 to say the application had been received. How do we track the progress of the application?

    3) when do we pay for actual fee for visa?

    4) when do we need to get Medicals & police checks done?

I am a little concerned I may have messed this up so any help on my above concerns would be appreciated!

    thank you :)

  11. Hi,

this morning we received an invitation to apply from WA for a 190 visa.....

can an you be invited by other states under the same EOI? Or is it first come first serve & now that WA have invited us no other state can?

I ask ask because the requirements for state sponsorship by WA for my trade is to already have a contract of employment in place .... Which we do not & are unlikely to get in 28 days....!

    thanks in advance :)

  12. Hi,

would any of you lovely people be able to clarify for me what the visa requirement for debts to Auzzie government actually means?

What potentially could be an outstanding debt? I went to oz for 1 year on a WHV and I am panicking that I could owe money without knowing....?

would anyone also know how I could find out?

    Thank you :)

  13. Hi,

my partner has been out of his "time" as a pipe fitter for 5 years, however since being out of his time he only served 4 years as a pipe fitter and then took on a more office based role but this still entailed working with pipe work but he is no longer titled pipe fitter.

we have a positive skills assessment and we are looking to submit our EOI but when we have come to the points around skilled work I am unsure what amount of time we can claim for? should we be asking for 5 points for 3 years or 10 points for 5 years?

    Thanks

    danielle
