It looks like the e676 Tourist visa has a wider scope - " allows people to visit Australia for holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives, friends or for other short-term non-work purpose".
Whereas ETA's and the eVistor just talk of tourism...
Best.

I know GeorgeD will be able to help me with this: say we go ahead with the tourist visa- which does the fiancé apply for: ETA, eVisitor, or the e676 Tourist Visa? They all sound the same to me! Also, my question is when he applies does he say he is waiting on a PMV? Also, when he arrives at the airport shall he say that too? He obviously isn't going to stay past the 3 months if the PMV is not granted, but he is genuinely coming and doing touristy stuff while we wait (I am taking him on my yearly family holiday, showing him my home town, going to birthdays etc of family members) so shall he just state all those things when he arrives at the airport? Either way the person at the border might not be happy.
Thanks in advance everyone, I would never want him to jeopardise his PMV application by doing this.
Great question - I'm not sure of the differences, but I think the ETA version is very quick to organise - but for UK citizens it has to be done through a travel agent etc.
[uPDATE - eVisitor applications are free, ETA's cost $20.]
I think I am going to be doing the same, but after I have ha da chat with my CO about processing times....
Trailfinders have an online Oz ETA visa which is very speedy.

Bit gutted to have an email today to say its looking more like early jan for my visa. soo my visa looks like its getting stretched out all the way to 6 month and a bit more. was hoping for before christmas thats looking unlikely now
Sorry to hear that - not very festive of your CO to push it out into the new year. Maybe they are winding down already.....
Was it an uninitiated email you received? or a reply to a update?
Hope it doesn't spook your plans.
Best.

Yes, luck of the draw with the CO's?
Looks like SV has at least 4 June applicants to grant, to catch up with AB's standards.
Also AH shuts in 2 weeks time, as a back marker - could happen anytime in the next 14 days?
Best.

So a little birdie may have sent an email telling them it was H's 40th and what a nice present it would be, and I'm sure entirely by coincidence it was granted this afternoon!! :xmas24::xmas16:
Best birthday present ever!!
Fantastic news, well done. Tis nice how it worked out.
I wonder how many more June applicants are out there waiting? anyone else got any good news pending?
Best.

Fantastic, well done Sarah Rob!
Glad to hear it went smoothly & impressed with how much admin you have managed to sort out so far! - good luck with the job interview.

Have been told by case officer i can leave Aus and she'll grant visa, have booked flight to NZ for next Thurs.
Timescale then has been just over 5 months. Sent my application off on 13 June and had ackowledgement from Australia House on 18th June, so they've been a bit quicker than i thought!
Hey Jimmy,
Did you make it over to NZ and back? did it all go to plan?
Best.

Hi All,
This is my first posting, though I have followed this thread for some months! My partner's visa was granted today. We applied on 18th June. We are packing up and heading out next week for an Australian Christmas!
Thank you to everyone here for the wonderful information and reassurance. It has got us through the last few months!
Congrats on the grant KBone, who was your CO? if you don't mind me asking

Good point MNG75,
AB clearing his June pile in the last week of November has certainly skewed the sample in the speadsheet.
Does anyone know when Australia House shuts for Christmas?
-
Ooh, we were 4 days after you. Congratulations!!
My husband is 40 next week, it'd be a pretty nice present, wouldn't it? *crossing everything*
What a great birthday present! fingers crossed for you here too. - Before the end of the week I reckon
This flurry of June grants is looking healthy, it looks like they have sped up a bit.
Best.

Hello Everyone, this is my first post on your forum,
We came across the 658+ pages of this forum and have been reading with interest, trying to get a feel for current processing times at AH?
My visa app is a 309/100, vital stats are:
309/100 application sent 06/07. Money taken 11/07, CO assigned 13/7. Medical undertaken 24/07. No further info requested...and advised that "current processing times are at least 6 months..."Broadly, it looks like all - the May applications have been granted in November (upto 6 months),
- the June apps have been told to expect it to take the full (6 months),
Have any of the July applicants been bold enough to poke their CO and check how long they expect the processing [sitting in a pile while the calender ticks over] part to take?
At some point in August the processing estimates were upped to 8-9 months, I wonder if that means there will be a period where AH don't issue ANY partner visas? just to keep in check with the revised processing times guidance.
My OH feels awful as the application would have been in by the end of June if she have pulled her finger out and written the personal statement part a bit quicker! :embarrassed:

Hi Everyone,
Got my Visa on Friday
I phoned up my CO last week and told him I was all ready to go (finish work this Friday, wife and kids already there, etc) and asked if he could grant it now to save me a trip to NZ in January.....and he said yes, so I got the confirmation letter on Friday!
It seems they can be pragmatic about your situation and flex it by a few weeks. Which is good to know. Of course, it will all depend on the individual CO. I happened to speak to mine just before he disappeared on the Christmas lunch jolly!
I arrive into Adelaide on Christmas day now. Tis a good feeling :xmas4:
Good luck to the next batch of applicants.
