If you are not resident in the UK how will you manage to get legally married there?

Hi Marisa, yes I'm a citizen of the UK however I reside in Australia.

My partner does not need a visa to go to enter the UK suprisingly.

I'm just about to book my appointment at the county council to register with all the documents.

Sounds like I will need a marriage visa

    Thank you

  2.

My Fiance and I are currently happy and living in Australia. I'm a permanant resident (UK born) and my partner has just applied for residency (Brazilian born).

In March we are flying to the UK to do the legal side of our marriage which will be in August in county Durham NE England. After the wedding in August we are planning to return straight to Australia after our honeymoon.

My question is, do we need a marriage visa?

    TIA

    Donna

  3. Hi everyone, my Fiance applied for his visa February 2018. In July 2018 I was asked for police checks and April 2019 my fiance had his medical done.

Still no word of his police checks yet. 😞

we are hoping to have his visa granted this year so when February comes around he can apply for the PR.

    Good luck to everyone

  4. My partner and I have applied for the 820 onshore defacto visa. We applied in February last year and was wondering if anyone else here was waiting on the same visa.

So far i being the resident have only been asked for my police check.

Anyone have any timelines for when a case officer will be assigned?

    TIA

    Donna

  5. Hi Raul,

I keep reading that i cant sponsor until 5 years is up, however i cant find anywhere from when the 5 years start. Since lodgement, visa grant or entrance to Australia. Do you know?

We did get a lawyer but even she wasnt 100% but she said we shouldnt have a problem.

    Thank you for your response.

  6. Hi guys, my name is Donna.

I have been living in Australia since May 2013 on a offshore 309 then turn permanent 2014.

My question is, my new partner and i would like to do the onshore 820 partner visa. Can anyone give myself an estimated time of how long it takes to be granted the defacto.

Also my partner is a Brazilian student here and his student visa ends in March. How long does it take for the immigration office to say, ok the visa is lodged and the BVA will be granted the after your student visa ends.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

  7. Thanks George, im going to ring again tomorrow. its just getting me down been told mid december then before the shut down. then to find out i have a new case officer which i only found out by an automated email from my original co. Also just being the only june applicant left for the spouse visa on here. Like you said it is what it is, however its my future as well and they just dont seem to be in any rush to grant it any time soon. even after various contact :( Tomorrow is a new day it might happen then.

p.s do you know how much its costing to ring aus?

  8. I hadn't noticed that some people in August were being told Feb and March - I haven't been very good at reading all the posts in the past few weeks. If that's the case then maybe those of us in July and August will be a sort of crossover group that moves towards the 8-9 months with a couple in between at 6-8 months... Given June has been granted, I originally hoped that they couldn't wait until March to grant the July batch so there would have to be some crossover and people being granted before 8 months. So maybe that is whats happening and explains the difference between the phone conversation and the letter? We can certainly hope!

After seeing the grants over the past few months pretty much all coming in on the projected timescales, I had accepted that I wouldn't see mine until April at the earliest but given the times have just increased maybe the past grants aren't a good indication? VF was really helpful to me when I had to ask a question and my case officer was off on holiday so maybe it would be worthwhile getting in touch just to check what the current expected time is? If you haven't been in touch with her much in the past then I doubt she would be annoyed or anything similar :)

I would love to see inside DIAC as well and try to understand how they work. It certainly seems to me that the visas are queued and capped, despite DIAC saying that they are not! It is frustrating when you've spent all the time and effort putting the application together, only for it to apparently sit in a pile for over half a year. Maybe there is some other processing going on but from everything I've gathered (and the fact that processing times used to be 3 months!) there doesn't seem to be a good reason for it.

Not all June applications have been granted yet :( x

  9. Hi Everyone

    VISA GRANTED this morning!!

I applied for my visa on June 18th so I had to wait the full 6 months. My case officer was VF and I really had to hound her this week via email and telephone otherwise I think I'd still be waiting. The last few weeks were the worst, but I can finally relax now.

I do feel for everyone still waiting, but you just have to hang in there. It's amazing how a simple email can change your life!

Anyway thanks to everyone for all your contributions on this forum. I feel like we're all kept in the dark at times, but this forum certainly helps tremendously.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

Hey congratulations i bet your really excited now.

We had some unlucky news our case officer was changed and now we have to wait till january. I think me and auspanda (couple) are the only juners left to get granted. Good luck for the future i hope it all works to plan. :)

  10. Sorry to hear that - not very festive of your CO to push it out into the new year. Maybe they are winding down already.....

Was it an uninitiated email you received? or a reply to a update?

Hope it doesn't spook your plans.

    Best.

hi we have moved back in with parents so we needed a change of address form, so i was just curious to how it was all going. im hearing lots of people giving their co's a little nudge or reminder that their there. it seems while everyone else is getting positive feedback and sometimes even their visa, i might have just miffed mine off.

im still checking my emails everyday at least 10 times a day just in hope!!
