UK is pumping. I get several phone calls and emails every week about well paid work all over the UK.
-
10 years in Ipswich, you get less for manslaughter
And armed robbery... unless you're bernie maddoff
-
Do people who live in the larger cities like Sydney and Melbourne also get bored eventually and want to get out?
-
So asking around over the past 6 months or so, you can transfer as much as you like with no questions asked.
Obviously country of origin must not be on a sanctioned list.

I have been many places and have lived in oz for nearly 6 yrs. But enough is enough! !
Had enough of
whinging aussies
people who don't wear shoes or shirts in supermarkets
People out in the streets in pajamas
looser drivers
crap roads
crap pubs
crap houses that are freezing in winter
expensive .....everything
racist people
high tax I have to pay
pay when you go to the doctor
how they bang on about medical insurance
million adverts every 10 mins on tv
radios that play the same music day in day out
asshole cops just looking to make revenue
flies
This country is 30 yrs behind the rest of the world
corrupt government
alcoholed fuel violence
the poor level of English spoken
bad language
No history
that pointless AFL
Bad loosers in sports
I have met many great people here. But for me the bad points out way the good.
What were you saying about English?

Good work. See how much you love it come October, six months of feral weather
-
Look for where the Crossrail pops up. Will be an easier commute into the big smoke.

Do it yourself and save a fortune. Agents never know what they're doing.

In quality of life terms, probably. London is great, don't get me wrong, I love it. Going into the city on a sunny day over the bridges or along the embankment in a taxi is irreplacable for awesomeness. For blue chip work it's brilliant, no better place to be apart from maybe Silicon Valley in the US, and for the first few years it's non stop party, drinks, nights out, sightseeing etc. Then you realise actually, although the work is great and pays really well, you're working 50-60 hours a week and not seeing your friends and family as much. It's not so great walking along fume infested roads to the tube every day. The potholes are bloody annoying, the pavements are dirty, the tube whilst fantastic is frustrating after the novelty wears off (along with other peoples armpits) and that fresh air and beaches and not working endless hours of your life away are calling.
But the first few years rock. Some never tire of it.
^ this pretty much sums up why we're leaving London. And London is too crowded.
Upgrading to fresh air, fine scenery, open spaces.

Nice work Steve, do what makes YOU happy. If family and friends try to talk you out of it it really is very selfish of them.
They can always come stay with you for long periods of time. It's not about how often you see people but more about the quality of time spent together.
As for the horse, have you tried Tesco? They offer good horse spot prices.

Bring your British etiquette with you and you'll be fine.
Also any pics of your wife? I like the sound of Peruvian-American

Love the shift of that jetstream. Loved having no snow this year!

I think you need to go to London first for a few years and when you get sick of it- Australia. Not the other way round.
Absolutely. Moving to Oz after London would then be an upgrade.
-
I'd use UK Forex or Hargreaves Lansdown. High St banks give you a crap rate.
-
Still cold as hell. Got my central heating on
-
Depends how old you are and what you do.
If you want to have a lot of fun and piss a lot of dough up against the wall then the UK is great for that.
Oz great for outdoorsy stuff and high quality living.
You can find yourself out of work in even the most buoyant of economies if you don't have the right skills and experience.
-
I love the fact you aren't forced to sit inside with the central heating on in Oz!
-
we were getting burnt, even with factor 30 suncream
Everyone knows that only factor 50 works in Oz
-
So basically you can't get rid of him that easily
-
Wow £30k is outrageous! I'm guessing they must have shipped the contents of their house.
They actually got rid of everything in the UK first.
Flights, rent, new furniture & appliances, doing SFA for a month while looking for work, car, flights back, etc etc.
Adds up...

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Don't worry about the age gap, most girls are far more mature than us guys
She sounds like a keeper. Hope it all works out in your favour.

50 and divorced in Oz eh, sounds like you need to find yourself a young Mrs and take her up the Gold Coast - that's the Gold Coast up in QLD, mind you.
Moving back after 20 years

Glad you got to experience London and spend time with your mum, sorry for your loss.
I do miss London, and especially the high day rates and much lower tax.
