  1. Boom! Visa granted today!

I could probably have had it sooner if I hadn't stuffed about with the medical check.

Doesn't matter as we're not going to Oz until next year.

PS. What a complete waste of money - this is no more than a fund raising exercise for the Oz government!! By the time new applicants are done they'll have spent close to £3000.

  2. Thanks guys

I've asked her a few times but I'm just emailed back a copy and paste job from the PDF booklet...

I think I've explained this before in reply to you earlier in this thread but I'll give it another go here :)

You are usually given a HAP number when your CO makes first contact or about 3 months after you submit your application. If you've not had your HAP number you should contact your CO and enquire as you are long overdue your medical. Check their first contact PDF letter as it may be included in that. If not, then ask them about your medical asap. Without it your application cannot be finalised and granted and given the current wait time for visa grant is 8-9 months you are into that time frame around now if you applied in Sept.

Medicals are linked to the HAP number now and you will be on the system and the hospital can find you with it when you book in. They have generally been giving a 3 month window between lodging application and doing medical and police check to allow about 6 months to make first entry once visa is granted.

My partner submitted his application back in February and was allocated the same CO as you. In the initial introduction email he received his HAP number and was advised to do his medical and submit his police clearance around 3 months from that date. If i were you I would contact SV to ask why you havent been given your HAP # and advised to do your medical and PCC as it sounds to me as if there has been an oversight. As Sniffer said, you are fast approaching your grant date and there is no need to make the visa grant period any longer than it needs be for the sake of an email to your CO.
  3. Welcome aboard. From what I've read people tell their CO when they intend to resign and fly out so the visa can be granted.

If she resigns in May the visa should be granted in August and you should be able to shift out to Oz in Sep...

Hi guys, just want to say hello and add my update. Im Australian, Girlfriend is British we are from the Wolverhampton/Birmingham area. We just submitted a defacto visa application for her offshore in London last week, we already have case officer and have already had all our stuff returned to us. Hopefully that means they have enough information?

The letter we got back said it would be at least 8-9 months and we shouldnt get the medical done until Feb so it doesnt expire while we are waiting.

These time frames are ok for us, however my girlfriend is a teacher she needs to resign by end of May 2013 otherwise these is not another window until it will be too late to get a job in Australia for the new school year. We hope to move in September next year give her time to settle and look for work.

Will we be able to get an indication that our visa will be approved but we just have to wait our turn? If so she can resign, she is understandably nervous about quiting before the visa comes in in case it is rejected.

Also any secondary teachers on here able to advise her about how to go about getting a job?

    THanks

  4. I had LG - I didn't automatically get the "no further information required email" so I fished for it :-). I left it a couple of weeks after my medical and asked her whether she had received it and whether she needed anything else and she confirmed in a roundabout way that she had everything and that I just had to wait the allotted time. I think you only need to worry if they keep badgering you for more documents etc. Easy for me to say now that I've got my visa :-) - it's just that long, excrutiating wait!!!

Bit inconsistent with the different COs.

When I ask a question I get back a copy and paste answer from the PDF.

Keen for an update from other Sep/Oct applicants.

  5. Hello all!

We're juuuust about to send off our 309 application to Australia House. I couldn't really find a better post to ask this question, but, I have a dilemma...I'm the sponsor and I just noticed that I have to supply certified copies of my payslips for the last 2 years. Problem is, all my payslips and even Aus Group Certs have been PDF's, or generated through online systems, so essentially, I don't have originals in order to get them certified. Has anyone had this issue? What can I do? I did toy with just sending them in as copies and crossing my fingers. Please help :/

Thank you so much in advance and good luck to all those in waiting.

Ps. Cannot believe our stupidity in waiting so long to apply, probably should've got our act together BEFORE they implemented the longer processing time. Ah well.

My Aussie mrs had the same 'problem'. They're still payslips, as long as you photocopy them and have them certified they're valid and can be used for the application. We did this and have not heard back.

And same boat as you, didn't realise turnaround time has increased... it's already been two months since I sent mine in, feels like yesterday.

  6. PS - you might not get many answers about this as I dont think there are many people out there that have got rejected! I looked up the rejection rate for the PMV and it was 9% - the majority of those rejections being "assumed forced or arranged marriages for immigration purposes".

That's right - the immi people are trained and can smell a dodgy deal and unless any of you carries out Jihad on behalf of the Taliban, hangs out with al-Qaeda or Mexican drug cartels then no news is good news.

Just stay tuned and await that email.

  7. At least you know you're not firing blanks - could be worse - well done.

Do the honourable thing and marry the girl and also for the sake of the baby.

If you get run over by a bus tomorrow at least the mother of your child and the baby are looked after.

Now and then you read horror stories of unmarried couples where the dad or mum and baby are left helpless because one of the parents dies. In fact if one of you end up in hospital the doctors can refuse you visitor's rights becuase you're not married.

  8. it's because it's so late in the year that budget and quotas are more or less non existent

I also made the error of only submitting early September hoping for a visa grant for January.

    Looks like Mar/Apr for me...

Not happy just been told visa will take 8-9 months when iv seen most people having to wait 4-5 months. Gf visa has run out so shes had to go back to sydney they drum it in to us that we have to be together for 12 months to be able to apply then split us up for 9 months wot a joke!!!
