  1. Hey guys congratulations and what a great present yor right :) our visa has been granted too, great, we wanted it before other half handed his notice in at work, we got the grant yesterday and he is handing his notice in today :) couldn't have timed this better ! What an awesome way to start Christmas too, i was starting to believe it wasn't going to be granted until after Christmas. Just for the record, we applied on the 19th as stated on the notice of grant to the 6th of December. Good luck to everyone else, we fly in January :) at last the wait for the grant is over, now just the wait for the flights which is fine and will come in no time i'm sure. All the best to everyone xXXx

Congratulations!! We found the flights got way cheaper from the 20th onwards which is why we are flying then. Can't wait to get a bit of summer!!

  2. It does suck. From what I can figure, the applications are given to CO's as they come in, and each CO then grants whats on their desk according to his/her desk only. They also have a quota which they can grant per day, and can't catch up if they are off sick or on holidays. (I could be totally wrong but this is how it appears to me.) So AB has been healthy all year ans saved his holidays for the end of the year, and is granting late June applicants now. As for my CO, she was off sick and had holidays earlier in the year, and as suck she is running later on her grants. So when Australian house say they are granted in the order they are recieved, this is not so true, really they are granted in the order they hit the CO's desk irrespective of when other CO's are granting. When we chased her up last week we were told 'closer to the 6 months from application'. Her last grant on the SS was 164 days, so I am hoping Tuesday will be our day.

On the other side, in an attempt to keep my mind of the grant, I have all my chrissie shopping done, and cards written.

There's also the complicating factor that some COs are over-represented on here and some are under-represented, so we're likely getting only a small picture of what's going on. Our CO seems to only have a couple of others on here, one who applied the same day as us, and we've been told late December/early Jan when we'd previously been told late Nov/early Dec, so who knows. We will be emailing this week to give her our flight dates and ask if there's an update though. It certainly can't hurt!

  3. Morning all, Nice email from my CO (AB) yesterday afternoon, advising I've been granted my visa! Its the 100 too!

Application Lodgement Date 25 June 2012 , Decision Date 27 November 2012. He was obviously underpromising last week when I gave him a nudge and he said nearer the 6 month mark at which time he would be on holiday!

Good luck to everyone else! And a huge thankyou to everyone on the forum that have shared their experiences and knowledge with me, mostly without knowing it, as I have lurked for info on a daily basis.

Ooh, we were 4 days after you. Congratulations!!

My husband is 40 next week, it'd be a pretty nice present, wouldn't it? *crossing everything*

  4. WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOO :jiggy:Visa for hubby has finally been granted. Applied for on 21st May and approved ( 100 - CO: AB) on 30th October!

So excited can't believe it is actually happening, only thing to do now is sell this house ( fingers, toes and everything else crossed that someone falls in love with it soon)

Woohoo! Hopefully we're only about 6 weeks away then!

Good luck with the house, we've been on since February, lost a buyer and are still waiting for another. We're going in January regardless, but financially really need to sell soon.

  5. Hi guys, just want to say hello and add my update. Im Australian, Girlfriend is British we are from the Wolverhampton/Birmingham area. We just submitted a defacto visa application for her offshore in London last week, we already have case officer and have already had all our stuff returned to us. Hopefully that means they have enough information?

The letter we got back said it would be at least 8-9 months and we shouldnt get the medical done until Feb so it doesnt expire while we are waiting.

These time frames are ok for us, however my girlfriend is a teacher she needs to resign by end of May 2013 otherwise these is not another window until it will be too late to get a job in Australia for the new school year. We hope to move in September next year give her time to settle and look for work.

Will we be able to get an indication that our visa will be approved but we just have to wait our turn? If so she can resign, she is understandably nervous about quiting before the visa comes in in case it is rejected.

Also any secondary teachers on here able to advise her about how to go about getting a job?

    THanks

Hello again (you replied to my thread on LIV forum - initials NG). I'm going to PM you with some info.

  6. Quick question broadly related to some of what's being discussed at the moment: once you've been sent the 'no further info' email, do you still need to keep accumulating evidence, just in case? Have any of you? I was given a 5-6 month time frame and I'm currently at about 5.5 months; I continued to receive bank statements etc and held onto everything I'd collated previously because there was simply no reason not to...and I figured that if any further questions were asked then I'd be ok. We're now moving out of our place and in mid-Dec will be flying to Oz, so I'm trying to get rid of all the clutter and ideally would like to make all my statements paperless. You think that's ok? Guess I could always call my CO...

Yes, I think you'd be fine. We have switched to non-paper now. You can always get them from the bank if you need them.

  7. We emailed our CO yesterday as we've decided on a flight date. She said she couldn't give any guarantees, but we were now looking at late December/early November, rather than the "sometime between late November and late December" we were originally told, so it looks like it's definitely the 6 month mark rather than the 5 for us. We applied end of June.

We're booking flights for January 20th so hopefully it will be granted by then. We'll email again at the end of November with our flight date to see if she can make sure it's granted by then, otherwise it will be an eVisitor and a trip to NZ for the husband :)

Oh, she confirmed he'll get a subclass 100 visa as well, which is good news!
