  1. Hi everyone,

I will get my job seeker ID this november and can apply for newstart allowance.

Recruitment companies say they can officially help me to get work if i am getting a newstart allowance from centerlink

I completed diploma of business and cert 3 in financial services in last four years here in Australia. Problem is never got job in admin so have no reference.(As i analysed it)

will my situation of getting job will increase or i still need to search for contacts?

Can Job seeker ID help in anyway?

looking forward for any good suggestion.

You do not need to do ielts test at this moment until early of 2018.

Hi Jayson of course i need to do that in 2018

But if i want to do it now for university admission will it be helpful within two years after i do it? I mean i can show same results for citizenship right?

  3. I read somewhere it will be ielts band 6 for english requirements for citizenship from now on.Is this right?

I got more than 6 last time without preparation but my husband lived 25 years in italy i do not know if he will be able to get 6 in all modules.

Secondly this way govt has increased fees of citizenship now i have to pay 900 dollars for all three of us for only english test. My son will be 16 years by the time we apply for citizenship.

And i will apply exactly after 6 years of my entrance in australia. my application was going on august 17 but now it will be november 19.

Gosh my all plans are scattered for study for job...need to search any factory work now.

  4. Thanks Ken,

I have been living in Australia since August 2013, i went abroad once for two months and in this last year for 4 months and came back in december 2016 after that last visit.

My 4 years completing in August 2017 so i need to wait for 9 months which exactly are from december 2016 till August 2017.

So i am all good to go for applying then? This 9 month rule no one mentioned do you have any link for it?

I have PR from Nov 2015.

You only need to have lived in Australia for 3 out of the last 4 years (including 9 months out of the last 12 months) and provided the first time you legally entered Australia was 4 or more years ago and at no point in the last 4 years were you in Australia without a valid visa and that you had PR for the last 12 months.

So if that 4 months was in the last 12 months of your residency period then you'd have to wait until 9 months after you returned to Australia (so you meet the 9 months out of the last 12 months rule). If you first entered Australia (even if you didn't stay long) over 4 years ago you can start your residency a year before you actually moved to Australia (since you're allowed to be out of Australia for a year of your residency period). If you are doing that then yes you would have to add the 4 months to your stay (as you would only being able to use 8 of the months before you arrived and not 12).

As to your second question, no you only need to submit a PCC for countries that you lived in for 12 months or more (unless they specifically ask otherwise - which is highly unlikely).

  5. You can drive across to Melbourne in a day from Adelaide, so why not buy a cheap tent and plan a trip over there to check the place out? You can spend a few days in the city and visit some recruitment agencies - with admin work it sometimes helps to start as a temp, or covering a short term contract, so both you and the employer can see if the job suits you, so that might be a way in.

    Thanks Diane,

I ll do that and check it before shifting.

  6. It's not discrimination. A business wants to be sure its customers can understand the person they are speaking to. It is bad for business if their customers can't understand the person serving them! So they want to employ someone who has a clear voice and speaks good English. If they can't find someone like that, then they'll consider someone whose English is imperfect, but only if they are stuck.

I am sure your English will keep improving and meanwhile, you may be able to find work that does not have face-to-face contact with customers.

The crime rate and accidents are not more in Melbourne than in Sydney. All cities have nice areas and rough areas. In Melbourne you will be able to live in a nicer area, in Sydney you may have to live in a rougher area because rents will be too expensive in better suburbs.

We did not have to pay advance rent and we are new in Melbourne.

Thanks Marisa I am preferring to pursue doctorate here in Australia and go for job after few years.

For renting a house can you please share the name of agency through which you got the house?

We have three year lease history, local references and also good bank statement for renting a house.

  7. Thanks everyone!

yes English is not my first language but if I can do volunteer job giving full 8 hours as a receptionist in a community center why am I not able to do a job in same role?

It looks as discrimination to me, but I never seriously applied for job till now. Started thinking about it after my hubby decided to shift to any other state.

With three kids we get benefit in rent and their expenses so if only my husband works we are good to go.

For rent issues here we are paying 1200 for a three bedroom house and what i saw a good 2-3 bedroom house minimum rent will be starting from 1600 dollars per month which is not much difference.

We are not much in partying type persons only go out when kids want to go. So our cost of living is much low than others around us. Our friends having same job are living hand to mouth my husband manages money in sensible way so God keeps us on track.

One family from our neighbors shifted Melbourne they were also not from an English country, person has good job experiences and is giving interviews daily, interviews went well too but getting no job. Do you think again problem is English? It means immigrants from non english background should be hopeless for good jobs?

Rest someone said crime rate and accidents are more in Melbourne than in Sydney. (it does nt mean that Adelaide is accident free or crime free zone :)

So its better to live in big city with kids as I see better schools in Melbourne and I have lived in melbourne for 2 weeks and it looked better to me in terms of houses and schools. I didn't try to see job market there though.

Kids ask for more fun places i hope they ll be far more in Melbourne than in Adelaide.

For shifting to Melbourne we need lot of money to get a separate house as if you are new in state you need to pay advance rent for two to three months along with bond.

  8. Hi everyone,

I am living in South Australia and thinking to move to Melbourne.

I have done degrees overseas but for current qualification did my Diploma in Business and Certificate III in financial Services from TAFE South Australia.

I just need to know what are prospects of getting job, I am ready to do volunteer work for experience and did some reception work as volunteer in Sa too.

So should i think that I ll be able to get job in Melbourne?

Secondly should we with three kids search any odd job like in a factory and then rent a house or search a house first and then search job there?

How is it living in Melbourne or in Sydney?

we are confused in moving to another state but Job opportunities are much low in SA so need it.

  11. thanks captain i think you are right. i got no information about it all. they need to see an agent. i ll tell them. lets see wat happens next.

    wishes and thax again

Ok. As far as I know the child cannot be added to a temporary residence visa and a visa must be applied for separately. If the child does not currently have a visa then he/she is classed as an illegal non citizen, has no right to remain in Australia, and as ridiculous as it may sound for a new born baby, is liable to be deported.

I would strongly suggest that the parents contact a registered migration agent to see what the options are for this child. I think that the child will need to apply for a visa in their own right, or if the 887 application is imminent then a bridging visa may be issued to allow the child to remain in Australia.

This is a fairly complicated case and is not likely to be covered sufficiently on a forum.

  12. you mean first lodge application for 887 and after lodging add child to 887 with Form 1436? No child is not added to 475 even and for that they are searching way to upload the form 1022 to their old application on immi account but they could not find it till now.

immi site says fill form 1022 but did nt see the link for uploading that form anywhere. something is not clear for them there.

Ok, in that case you'll need to just add the child in as a new dependant for the 887.

Is the child currently part of the 475?

  13. Parents have TR visa sub class 475 which is temporary resident visa now applying for 887 so need to add that child.

If a child is born in Australia to one or more parents that have permanent residence, then the child is an Australian citizen by birth.

Australian citizens don't need visas for Australia just like British citizens don't need visas for the UK.

  14. If child is born in australia how we can submit form 1022 to DIBP or how can we add that child to current visa do you know that?

The easiest way around this is to have the child in Australia. That way the child is an Australian citizen from birth. I don't know whether your personal circumstances will allow you to do that, but it is an option.
  15. It makes me sick that religious schools are subsidized by Oz taxpayers. Why should we pay for the brainwashing of kids with that primitive sick garbage.

Another good point but i think most of funding for school is extracted from fees and not by govt. Because we have to pay thousand of dollar there while in public school its almost free. If my thoughts are right?

  16. We are not religious in any way. Nor do me and my wife have children.

However, we did live in a predominantly Muslim area of the UK. There were several Muslim schools in the area. However, most of our Muslim friends would not send their kids there because they felt it was important the kids grew up with a understanding of their non Muslim peers and friends from other / no faiths.

    :)

Good point, they have to live Australia and not Saudi Arabia

  17. Hello every one. i am planning to move to Adelaide by end of 2015. is there any one also who is going to Adelaide in near future.

Please suggest me best place for cheap rent room and for job seeking. i am from Pakistan.

we are couple with a kid. currently i have plan to move alone and stay there for two or three months, search some best place for rent a room (a cheaper one) and find job.

please share your experience and suggestions.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

We came two years back with three kids.

Experience about renting is difficult if you have no contacts here.

Job depends on your skills and luck.

the only good thing you are doing is you are coming alone better. But without family people get depressed too. Some get depress with family when could not get job instantly.

What is your field of expertise?

Come and experience everything yourself, Australia is not same for everyone. Everyone has his own views and experiences.

  18. I have no personal experience of Islamic schools (or schools of any other religion for that matter) but there has been a lot of stories in the news here in SA about parents of kids at an Islamic school being very unhappy about how it is being run, to the extent that they have been protesting outside of the school. It does strike me that the easiest way for these parents to send a message to the school would be to move their kids to another school but very few seem to want to. I'm not sure if this is a reflection of the other schools in the area or how strongly the parents feel about having their children educated in an Islamic school.

    Hi NicF,

In fact in SA problem is there is no competition in islamic school one or two schools we have and they are also not so good that's why i feel its better for me to choose public school otherwise my children may not be competitive in studies as I want them to be and working hard on them by helping at home.

  19. I think Muslims are afraid to talk even about islamic school because of negative feedback they instantly get on different social networks about islam? Just a personal thing ;) And now I hardly expect that I will get a feedback from any muslim about his or her kid studying in religious school. Have to vist all ov them and extract my own results....

    Best wishes for everyone,

  20. im a teacher & i have children in my class who were at islamic school in south oz before they moved to nsw & came to our school. both children who are twins are behind their peers. also the little boy thinks he can boss female teachers & other little girls around & is having a lot of trouble because of this. im not sure if he learned this bad behaviour at school or at home or maybe both but it is causing a lot of problems for his learning.

    Hi Booma,

he must have learned that thing at home because in school they don't teach that behavior but if that's so I will never send my child to islaimc school and in SA there was only one islamic school now another has started but that already existing is not a good one. My husband's friend works in that school but his children go to public school which mean even employees there think its not worth it. Rest God knows best.

  21. Always wondered about religious schools. Do they teach science properly? Or history? I wouldn't send my kid to anything but a secular school personally.

In fact that is my concern my son is good in maths and science and sending to a religious school will affect his studies or not I am not sure but thats why I asked it here. Because religion I should tell at home and other subjects he should learn properly in school. My husband want to send him to public school as he already is studying in one and though its in suburb its too good. But i am thinking to research first then decide.
