That's not fair. We've been together for 7 years this June so I'd say I'm incredibly 'low risk' for some sort of immigration conspiracy. I also have to put my career on hold as I can't study until I get it. I hope since we submitted before much of this happened, that they're overestimating the expected time just to be safe.

Glad it cheered you up! I just suddenly realised it was the same wording as our email. I think it gets generated automatically regardless of whether you have already started the application. I think I was about halfway through doing ours when I arrived.

I'd really like to start studying (PR= still upfront payment and no hex loan but not the hiked up international student fees.) I am hanging on my emails every day - the official site now says 12-15 months is standard which is depressing since this is the third visa I've had the pleasure of applying for (PMV, then temporary and now PR.) We all deserve medals in patience and such big parties. Any one else encountered the "you're just English so it must be easy" type of conversation? #noteasyforapom

Does anyone please have a spreadsheet that includes wait times for those who hold a 820 temporary awaiting a 801 permanent?

Yes it's about a month and a half now until the 2 years are up. Oh I'm soooo happy to hear that Nemesis! I was getting so grizzly, what made me wonder that is that it wasn't sent just after I submitted my application, but about 12 hours later. I think they need to change the wording of the email then for those people like myself trying to get ahead of the game Thanks again my evening is now happier.

Only to find an automatically generated email this morning telling me that "We require additional information or documents that cover your circumstances since you were granted the temporary partner visa." not citing anything specific and only providing general information I already know and the checklist I have already found and submitted everything in accordance to...

Has anyone else had this happen? I guess all I can do now is call them up and wait in a long queue to know what's going on. Grizzle.

Well I've been allowed to apply for the permanent stage as of mid this month (2 months shy of 2 years ago) and had no problem getting the police certificate, ordered and paid for onlne and it was sent out in the post the very next day! Now I've got all my papers ready and JP witnessed ready to be posted off - and this is a very little silly question but will it cause any problems if I sent it all off through registered post? It's going to a PO box so I don't know whether that means there will be nobody there to sign for it so that will just delay it... probably a silly question but after the hard work put into all these forms I want to make sure they arrive there safely!

I will keep you all updated with any news of a (hopefully) grant once I hear anything. Not too much longer now....

The two years for eligibility for a permanent Partner visa starts when the temporary/provisional Partner visa is applied for which in your case would be some time in August 2013. You would usually be contacted by DIBP about 2 months before the two years is up so you should be contacted soon - probably some time next month. See the following:

The grant of a permanent visa is not automatic and you will need to provide evidence that you are still in a genuine relationship.

The forms that you linked to, are they the ones that they should be sending out in the post soon? so if I don't have them at the 2 months prior stage I could just use the online forms and they are allowed to be submitted as early as the exact date of 2 months prior? And also... (damn that there is yet more evidence!) what sort of evidence are people using of a 'genuine and continued relationship' at this stage? and how long does the PR usually take to process and grant after the 2 years wait is up?

This sure is a long, difficult process I'd hoped that this would be automatic. Hubby will be unemployed next month and at my casual job I am being given decreased hours. Not easy for a pom.

Haven't been here in some time, been enjoying my life here in Adelaide for the past 2 and a half years with hubby and our two cats I've found conflicting information online and know this is the best place to come so I would like to ask about when to expect my visa to become permanent? I came over on a prospective marriage visa in 2012, we got married in August 2013 and sent off the papers that month which were approved with a temporary 820 by mid-September 2013. I know that after two years of marriage this is supposed to become permanent but is there something I should be doing right now or just wait for them, do we have to fill more forms in and is there a wait time? or should I just automatically receive the notification of a permanent residency after our two year anniversary?

Hey guys. I've looked into this and it appears as though I can leave and re-enter Australia on my temporary 820 visa as long as my PR isn't granted while I'm away for 3 weeks in the UK? I just wanted to confirm whether anyone has done this and whether there were any problems getting back in? I tend to worry... a lot! and just want to make sure I won't be stuck back in the UK as that would be the worst possible thing that could happen!

There has been no connection found as of yet between the airline and the unfortunate things that have happened to those planes. It's going to be really bad for the airline and unfair too but no, I won't fly with them (I probably wouldn't have anyway, as I prefer to use the ones I've experienced before.)

Since living in Aussieland, has anyone been told about any pom-isms you hadn't noticed you had before?

Some I've been told about:

- Apparently poms screw up our dollar notes in our purses/wallets rather than neatly tidy them away.

- Poms from the north just can't say "nuts" or "bus" right no matter how hard we try. That sound is not in our alphabet!

- We don't wash our bed sheets often enough. Plus it's not called a duvet it's a doon-ah, or something.

- Sandshoes are just sneakers or trainers, apparently they need yet another word for them.

- Aussies can't always tell when we're making a joke/being sarcastic.

- We can sound English, Irish or Scottish depending on who you talk to

- We automatically sound "proper" or posh even if we have a common-as-muck accent.

It would seem it's my fault!

Every time I'm in Australia (Noarlunga, SA) we get record breaking hot summers and cold winters - I'm here for every single one of them! I'd suggest you send me back now so you can get back to normal. Seriously though, I'm from Manchester and even I have been waking up in the night shivering, I even had numb toes after being outside for half an hour the other day. It feels cold yet I used to cope really well with the exact same temperatures back in the UK -is it just me or does 15 here feel a lot colder than a UK 15 it's crazy @_@

I think some of it's connected with becoming acclimatised to Australian weather and that the houses aren't set up to deal with cold weather. But still, something funky is going on!

Aha it's looking good for us June'ers now! I applied on the 13th June and got my visa granted today - that was a 5 and a half months wait. If you've passed the 5 month mark I think it's worth phoning your case officer to check, as my fiance called ours today to check progress and it was granted within minutes of the phone call.

9 months of being apart and I'm just so nervous now it's finally happened! It kind of felt like a distant dream that whole time but now it's real, eek!

It is five months now I would like my visa now please...

Snap, we sent ours off on the same date. They don't seem to have started on June applications yet, I'll be keeping a hawk eye on this thread and that spreadsheet to see when our month gets moving. Good luck

Congratulations! After such a long wait (and I think you've been away from your partner all this time too) you deserve to be so happy and excited right now. I think it the difference between our weather and Adelaide's might take some adjusting to though, they've been in the 30s this past week (and huntsmans out in force my fiance reports!)

On my front, it's 5 months since I sent my visa off on 13th June, so hopefully I'll have a date in enough time to get over there by Christmas. It will be interesting to know if there will be any difference between the May and June processing times since I applied only 2 weeks before the extended processing time came into effect so things might slow down a little bit for us June people. Hopefully not too much though! I'm keeping an eager eye out for the first June person to get granted now. SusieB were you told in advance when your visa would be approved? Definitely need to escape for Christmas with my Mr!

Could you please let me know what AB advises in his email to you. We also applied for the 309 Spouse visa on the 12th June & are planning to fly to Seoul on the 6th Dec, one-way.........we are really hoping that my visa will be granted in the run up to our departure:-) We still have LC as our CO.

I applied on the 13th June and am planning on going over there to see my partner asap, either waiting if it's still 5 months or going on a tourist visa a month earlier if it's the 6 months. Trouble is, my CO (AB) unlike others, will not give me a rough timeframe yet. I think it's to do with the change in processing times but he did say for those who applied in June it looks like it may be nearer the 6 months than 5. Very vague and uncertain answer which I can understand, but at the same time it makes things very difficult to organise. I'm going to wait a bit longer and keep asking.

CO told me it was ok to book flights so i've done it! Flying out to Oz on 12th November. She said my visa will be granted by then. I hope so, 5 months would be end of October Good luck to all those who are due now, fingers crossed lots are granted this week!!!

My CO is still giving nothing away so I really don't know what to do, I need some advice. You're not the only person who lodged 2 weeks before me who has already been given a date but I'm still being quoted 5-6 months and they're not in a position to tell me when it will be granted apart from that it will likely be 'nearer' to 6 than 5 months. I've told them that I'm considering flying over on a tourist visa a month before my due date but that would just be a guess, I'm thinking perhaps he just said nearer to 6 to be on the safe side in which case if I fly out a month before the 6 month mark I may need to head to NZ to be offshore not soon afterwards.... making it not worth it. It's going to cost us a lot for the NZ holiday to fly from Adelaide then accommodation but I think it's do-able. Just not sure whether it's worth it just to see each other a month sooner (can only afford a month of not working) as it would mean extra costs (flight,accommodation,tourist visa, leaving my job earlier and not being able to work in Aus immediately.) But on the other hand, it's been 6 months apart so far, every day is a struggle without him and I absolutely hate my temp job and living situation over here.

It seems to be a catch 22, any recommendations to sway me one way or the other? It's all up to me really. What I say to him goes, hehe.

But that Australian person has to have been in the UK within the last 12 months (mine hasn't) and if they do open the boxes they will clearly see the clothes don't belong to him. I can't take that risk.

I'm not sending mine using a specialist service like that. Although it's clearly cheaper I don't have much stuff and will need (or want) a lot of it to already be there when I arrive which is why I'm not waiting for my visa to be approved first. I've sent a load of clearly women's clothes (and high heels!) addressed to my fiancés father... believe it or not, as I will be staying at his home address initially so he will be going to collect the parcel from the PO hence it needed to be in his name. I'm not worried that the stuff is clearly not meant for him as I think they x-ray stuff and only open it if something looks a bit suspect, even if they did have a look through it if there's nothing against regulations in there I don't think they'd care who it's addressed to. I mean you're sending your stuff to someone else you know to stay in their care as far as I see it.

I've done this before when I came back home from my working holiday in Aus and there were no problems with the addressing of the parcel to someone else to look after in my absence.

I just went to the post office and asked for shipping, their cheapest service was with Parcel Force which apparently takes 6 weeks to get there but they gave me a few different options depending on how and when I wanted the parcel to arrive. They charged £88 for a 7kg box of clothes which is about what I expected. I've one or two more boxes to send over but thankfully I don't own very many things so the rest will fit in my normal suitcase. I'm going to pack up my DVDs and books now but don't want to send them off until I'm completely sure there won't be any customs/tax type problems.

I start a new job tomorrow so even though I've been packing stuff and working towards my move, it seems like everythings taking a big step backwards with settling down into work life over here. Ever since I finished university I've just been waiting to start my life in Aus while simply wasting my days over here, does anyone else feel like they're living in a very large waiting room with not enough magazines to read?

I've just sent a box of clothing to be shipped To Aus ahead of me - does anyone know whether there are any restrictions (like with tax) on DVDs and books? As I want to get all of my stuff out of the way and sent over there. Thanks.

Oh dear, so much conflicting news! According to the spreadsheet, SusieB only applied 2 weeks before we did and has already been given a date which makes her approval bang on the 5 month mark. Well, even if it's now 6 months, that makes our wait 3.5 months longer at the most.
