  1. Victoria 24,

I agree with wellieboots and in addition an onshore visa is more expensive than an offshore visa.

My suggestion is to submit the PMV in the UK. However if you are in a defacto relationship with children (and both of you are the children's parents) you could submit an offshore spousal visa rather than a PMV. This could also mean you go straight to the 100 which would give you permanent residency rather than temporary. The waiting time for the spouse visa is the same as the PMV but you could head out to Australia on a visitor visa, which is valid for 3 months a few months before the visa is to be granted. You would have to then go offshore (with the children) in order to validate the visa (a quick trip to Bali or NZ). Just keep your CO informed of your movements and let him/her know when the visitor visa will expire so they can grant the visa in time.

    Best of Luck

  2. Hi, we are in the process of completing our PMV application form and I just wondered if anyone could answer a couple of questions for me please.

    • the evidence required that we have met face to face as adults! Are photos ok?

    • Evidence that we intend to marry within 9 months! How do we provide this? We had planned on me entering Australia and then getting married within the time frame, we havent booked anything yet.

    • How do we provide proof that we intend to live together?

Also, the certified copies of birth certificates, does this mean they have to be signed by a GP or someone similar?

Sorry to ask so many questions.

my partner and I applied for this visa in May and were granted the visa in October, 5 months after applying. It took a little while to collect all the documentation but was straight forward. I got two family members who had met my partner to do stat decs but also got statements from friends, including the friend who introduced us, to state how and why they considered us a couple. I also got on the Internet and searched out licensed marriage celebrants, found some local to where we are moving and then selected one. We did have to pay a deposit but got the "Notice of Intent to Marry" completed. Although the application asks if you are living together and if you have joint bank accounts it is not a requirement of a PMV.

We took all our birth certificates, previous wedding and divorce certificates etc to a local solicitor to witness. The NOIM had to be witnessed by a "Notary Public" which I again did a search on the Internet and found one local to where we lived.

In addition to our personal statements (which we talked about how we met and our feelings for each other...which is very difficult to write!) we also included lots of photos together on holiday and with friends and family including those who had written statements for us. We did an upfront police check and made sure we were completely honest in everything in terms of character. After we submitted the application it was very straight forward, our CO said it was a clear cut case and we did not have to have an interview.

From reading other posts on PIO the PMV is probably the easiest visa to get as you don't need all the proof of living together for a certain period of time. However the downside is that it is only a temporary visa valid for 9 months. After you marry then you must apply for a 820 visa which is another temporary visa, this time for 2 years. After completion of these 2 years then you can apply for a PR visa. Obviously in all this time you must remain as a couple.

    I hope that helps.

  3. Hi all, Hoping can get some help with a question thats bothering me and my fiance a bit at the moment.

As She will be entering Australia on a Pmv300 visa , the next process for us will be to apply for Visa 820 at the end of february after wedding for her temporary 2 year visa. She did her medicals in june of 2012 so medical is valid till june 2013 to our knowledge.

If the 820 takes 4-6 mnths to be looked at by the case officer after lodging in feb taking it past june 2013 will we need to provide a new medical by the time our visa is accessed or would it count from the date we lodge it in February. Im not sure on timeframes for this next process of the visa as it seems some wait along time and others get it quick.

We are just hoping that as we are lodging it in Feb than our meds will still be fine as its still in the 12 months that it valid.

    Any info much appreciated.

My partner will be in the same position. The medicals were done on the 7/6/2012. Our wedding is set for the 6/4/2012. I dont know the answer either so if anyone does it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

  4. Hi again, I emailed my case officer yesterday and today to check if possible for a date? Did not answer yesterday and today he was away from the office until tomorrow, so will try again tomorrow see if I can get any further forward. I explained in email that my partner was there, I'd like to book flights and don't want to keep the boys away from seeing there dad for too much longer if I can help it. Yes permanent residence. Really really hope it's soon!!!! Wish there was a way to get granted sooner, has been an awful 6 month wait but know it will be worth it, it's just the not knowing part it's awful :( x x x

I really hope it's soon for you. I know what you mean about the wait. Fortunately my partner has been here in the UK with me. We are both so pleased its been granted and its only 5 months after we applied. However as its a PMV it is only a temp visa so my partner will have to apply for a PR two years after we are married in April...so we have a few years to wait for a PR for him.

  5. So happy for yous!!!! X x con still waiting....... My visa was sent also in may 12th still not heard when it will come! Hope it's soon I really do! As my partner is already in Australia, and me and my two children miss him so much already! Hopefully this week or next???? :) x x x

Have you contacted your CO and let him/her know how much the children (and you) are missing their father? Have you booked your flights and are you going straight to a PR visa?

We asked after we had confirmation that my partner had passed the medicals about how long it would take and if we could book flights. Our CO (LG) told us mid- late October so we booked flights for November. I contacted LG a few weeks ago to confirm to her the date of our flights (we have to be in Oz for my son's wedding) and she again promised mid-late October. Since it is now the 17th she has done exactly as she said she would.

  6. Folks, been a while since I posted on here but thought I'd check-in to see if there are any mid-May applicants with feedback on grant dates?? I'm hitting the 5 month mark tomorrow. Also, anyone else got VF and heard from her recently? I haven't contacted her for around 4 months now but there don't seem to be too many mentions of her on here...

We have been told mid-end October for my OH's visa...so that is from about now! We have LG.

  7. Hi everyone and congrats to everybody who has received their visas!

Not really posted on here before but have been keeping a close eye on timelines so thought I should add my own....

I am the ''Aussie'' (I use '' '' because I am actually only a Permanent Resident myself from being a dependent on my parents' skilled migrant worker visa from when I was 18/19 and in uni when they applied.) I got my visa through in March 2009 and made my initial entry as a holiday to visit my aunty and uncle in Perth in April 2009. To cut a long story short, for many different reasons my parents only went permanently in April this year.

My husband and I applied for his 309/100 visa in April. We have been together since college (going on for 6 years) and have been married since February but have been living together de facto since 2008 and had lots of evidence of financial dependency etc, contracts for our rentals etc. We've been friends since we were 11/12ish so also had lots of embarrassing teenage photographs which added some comical relief to our application!! We also had statements from my Aunty and Uncle who are now Australian citizens. We enquired about when we could book flights a few weeks ago as we had found a reasonable deal for October 22nd and CO told us that we were fine to book this. We emailed yesterday only to ask a question regarding paperwork for shipping and received an email back with two very pleasant surprises - number one: the visa!! and number two: it was a permanent visa!!!

Payment taken / CO assigned (LG): 17th April

    Medical: 10th May

    Police check: End of May

No further info required: 1st June

    Told 5-6 months (between 17th sept - 17th oct)

spoke to LG about booking flight on 22nd Oct: 7th september

Visa subclass 100 granted: 26th september

Absolutely cannot wait! I must also add that LG has been fantastic - everytime we have had contact with her she has been so helpful and reassuring about it.

Now comes the next long process of getting registered as a teacher with WACOT... another load of forms, certified copies and, of course, money!

    Best wishes to everybody,

    CGM x

    Congratulaions.

All these visas being approved means ours is coming around soon.

  8. Hi all.

E-mailed my CO a few days ago (CO is PS) to remind him that I would be going to Thailand on Tuesday for 10 days for a friends wedding.

He responded saying he is now in a position to grant my visa.

    Whoohooo!!

So... applied May 10th 2012 visa granted September 27th 2012 (but need to leave Aus before I get it!)

    Congratulations, that is fantastic news.

  9. Hey AussieinEngland and dianaos, I also filed in May (25th) and have LG. I have been in touch as have booked flights for the 12th November, and she says she will ensure my visa is granted on time. She's been great everytime i've contacted her, and so quick to reply so i'd send her an email AuusieinEngland just sp you can relax a bit. Good luck!

I agree Maisem. That is exactly what she said to us and she seems very nice and is very reassuring because I think we all worry about whether it will be approved and when it will be approved.

  10. Lol...same date... don't tell me you are flying Singapore airlines as well. We are flying into Adelaide (that is where my son is) but then we head to Melbourne where we are going to live (and hopefully find jobs).

If I was you I would contact LG and let her know your flight dates if your agent won't. It gives her further information and when I have talked to her she was very nice and understanding of our situation.

  11. Hi all, New to the forum and forums in general. We applied for our Pmv 300 visa in Early May 2012. Have flights booked for late november to return to australia and are now approaching the final stage of the wait hopefully. It all gets very stressful , not hearing nothing and playing the waiting game. We are just hoping we have the visa by the start november as we have a wedding to plan and hooneymoon for early next year. Being in the UK i havnt had a chance to do much planning at all.

Great to see all the visa approvals on this thread, and im sure you will all enjoy Australia. Dont listen to everything you read on these forums about people returning to the uK. After spending my whole life in Australia, I really dont understand where some forum members are coming from. Its a great country with a great lifestlye. I think some that return , should have never left the Uk in the first place.

Does anyone know if you get a pre warning before they issue the visa maybe the week before, or is it a case of you just get a email and you have your visa ? We do have a migration agent which we used just for the purpose that it was all a bit overwhelming to us ( even tho it proved a very straight foward case) but our agent has been terrible when we have had simple questions we have just wanted answers too. After they get your money they dont seem to want to be bothered after that helping much.

    Hi AussieinEngland,

We are in the same position as you. (I'm the Aussie) We applied in May and have been told to expect my partner's visa in late October (CO is LG). We are booked to fly out on the 23rd Nov. My son is getting married in Oz so we have to be back for that! Our wedding is April next year and I will start planning that when I get back to Oz...too much to do here before we leave, than worrying about that. My rule is to do one thing at a time and cross it off the list before I get worried about the next thing that needs to be done.

I would contact your CO and let them know when your flights are so they can try to make sure your visa is granted before you leave. If it isn't your partner can fly out on a visitor visa but they will have to leave Oz in order to validate the PMV visa when it is granted.

    Best of luck.

  12. Application sent - 15/05/2012

Case officer assigned -17/05/2012 (it's LG)

Medicals requested -17/05/2012 (police check already completed)

    Medicals done -07/06/2012

I had heard nothing else until today when I called LG. She confirmed receipt of the medicals and said they were OK and nothing more was needed and to expect result around October.

I also asked about an interview which she said wasn't needed. Is this normal? I thought every couple had to have an interview. Does anyone get turned down on their application?

I really need to be in Oz by the end of November as my son is getting married and I want to be there for that, so really hoping it all comes through.

Well an update. I spoke to LG again today and she told me that in clear cut cases an interview is not necessary and that my partner will get his visa in October. So I asked was it OK to go ahead and book flights etc and she said yes. :)

So one way flights now booked with Singapore Airlines (we can get 60kg between us with SA). I have now got to book the cats in for their flight. They have already had rabies vaccinations and the RNATT test. Also have to confirm with the removalists. I am now very excited...just have to wait until the 23rd November...and that visa had better be here or else!

  13. Hi there,

I am new to this site so will give a few details. I am an Aussie and my partner is applying for a PMV. We are wanting to move to Melbourne as my parents live in Tassie and two of my kids in Adelaide so it's half way! (and better job opportunities for my partner and myself)
