  1. I havn't been on here for a while as my 309 was granted November and moved over to Aussie straight away. Been here almost 6 months now and enjoying the sun. Just wanted to wish everyone who's waiting for their visas the best of luck with their move, it will be worth the wait. Also I used Seven Seas Movecube service to ship my stuff over and it was a great easy service so worth considering if you have stuff to move. Best of luck to you all with your new lives!!! :)

  2. Hi All,

Ive not been on in a while as have been flat out getting ready for move but heres an update...

We booked our flights for the 7th of Nov so we contacted CO to advise who told us she would be able to tell us more at the 5 month mark which was 22/10/12, My husband chased on the 23rd and the reply back was it going to be approved by the 29th of Oct!!

Such a relief to have this done before we get to Perth, Not sure if booking the flights and chasing the CO has made any difference but its pretty much on the 5 month mark.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting

Hi Chelsea, did you get it on the 29th??

  3. VISA GRANTED!!! Decided to call VF as I noticed my projected processing time was actually 5 (rather than 5-6) months and it had been 5.5 since submission. She didn't even wait for me to ask the question; she told me she presumed I was calling for an update and said she'd grant either today or tomorrow. 1 hour later, I got the email! So, my stats are:

May 15th - application submitted at Australia House.

June 12th - no further information required.

    October 29th - visa grant.

To those still waiting, my fingers are firmly crossed for a quick turnaround for you all!

Congratulations Brucey! I'm so happy for you, should be me any day now too, im bursting with excitment!! All the best for your new life!!

  4. Flying today - land In Brisbane friday then house hunting and job hunting ready for our new lives

We applied in May so just over 5 months waiting which felt like ages but now feels like its gone really quick (weird huh)

AWESOME!!! Best of luck. I applied 25th May, and flying to Brisbane also (on the 12th November) and gonna be doing the same lol. Best of luck for it. Let us know how it goes!!

  5. Thanks for the reply. We have the same case officer and ironically my Fiance and myself are flying out of heathrow on the same date as you.

Our migration agent knows what date we are flying out and has confirmed that they will chase up our visa after the 5mnth mark is upon us. We have been tossing up whether to send our CO a message ourselves as our migration agent will not contact them for us until we reach the 5 month mark. I understand where the migration agent is coming from with no contact, but some answers would just be great. We did tick the box on the application to say that our migration agent will be the person of contact with the embassy. I am thinking though it wouldnt hurt for us to send LG a message to let her know our flights are booked. It is a week over the 6mnth mark for us the flights are booked for.

Hopefully it all works in our favour. I am really not looking foward to having to get a visitor visa if we had too. Although a quick trip to Fiji could be fun.

Hey AussieinEngland and dianaos, I also filed in May (25th) and have LG. I have been in touch as have booked flights for the 12th November, and she says she will ensure my visa is granted on time. She's been great everytime i've contacted her, and so quick to reply so i'd send her an email AuusieinEngland just sp you can relax a bit. Good luck!

  6. Nice to see that people are getting their visas.

Worried about the time scale for us..had not idea that it would take 6-8 months.

We lodge my OH application on the 2/9/12 case officer assigned (AB) police check done and medical asked for and sorted, attended additional information sent.

We have booked flights for the 28th on November and have read that others have entered on tourist visas while waiting for visa to be granted..how does this work? Any advice would be great.

I start my job on the 7th Of Jan 2013 and we do not want to be in the situation of being apart for months on end.

Has anyone had their visa granted quicker? We do not have any children and have been married for 3 years and I can see no other reason to hold up the application

    Fingers crossed

Unfortunately no matter how simple the case is they stick to the time indicated so if they said 6-8 months it will be granted within that timeframe, not earlier. You can go on a tourist visa but then you can't work and can only stay in oz for 3 months at a time so would need to go off somewhere for a few days and then come back. you would also need to be offshore when the visa is granted. So if you can afford all the flights and live on one persons wage it's definitely the way to go if you don't want to be apart! Good luck.

  7. hi all

i have been told a mid october grant and nothing else given away (despite my begging) - do people normally get their visas on time and when do they give the hints?? I really want to book my flight :-)

Hey Vixenpops, I applied 25th May so due end of October. I emailed my CO who is LG and said can I book flights for 10th November, replied saying yes I can apply for dates after this date and they will make sure my visa is granted in time, but to let her know the details. I have now booked flights for the 12th November, which I confirmed with LG and was told this is fine and visa will be granted!! wooooo just to get everything else ready now! Thats only 9 weeks away!!

  8. My CO is still giving nothing away so I really don't know what to do, I need some advice. You're not the only person who lodged 2 weeks before me who has already been given a date but I'm still being quoted 5-6 months and they're not in a position to tell me when it will be granted apart from that it will likely be 'nearer' to 6 than 5 months. I've told them that I'm considering flying over on a tourist visa a month before my due date but that would just be a guess, I'm thinking perhaps he just said nearer to 6 to be on the safe side in which case if I fly out a month before the 6 month mark I may need to head to NZ to be offshore not soon afterwards.... making it not worth it. It's going to cost us a lot for the NZ holiday to fly from Adelaide then accommodation but I think it's do-able. Just not sure whether it's worth it just to see each other a month sooner (can only afford a month of not working) as it would mean extra costs (flight, accommodation, tourist visa, leaving my job earlier and not being able to work in Aus immediately.) But on the other hand, it's been 6 months apart so far, every day is a struggle without him and I absolutely hate my temp job and living situation over here.

It seems to be a catch 22, any recommendations to sway me one way or the other? It's all up to me really. What I say to him goes, hehe.[/QUO

Yeah we thought about doing all that with a tourist visa, but decided it really wasn't worth the costs especially when we have a baby to think about and I wouldn't want to leave him even for a few days to have my visa granted in NZ, and the hassel of taking him with me? No Thanks!! From a mind over matter point of view i'd say wait til its granted and then go, although you don't like your job here, it's money which will help you have a bit of time off when you get over there. And yes it's been a long time apart and that sucks but i'm sure skype makes the distance easier. My partner and I were apart for 6 months last year which was horrible as I was pregnant and he missed out on all the scans etc (luckily he got here 2 weeks before the birth) but 'Absence is to love as wind is to fire.....it extinguishes the small but kindles the great' . Be strong!! And in a few weeks time hassel that CO. GOOD LUCK!!!

  9. Congrats Anika.

My visa isn't due to be granted until the end of October, but I emailed LG today and asked if i could go ahead and book a flight for 12 November. She said yes, just to mail her when i've booked and she will make sure it's granted by then. Yippee

I loved reading this. I also have LG and submitted my application for a 309 on the 25th May so hopefully I can do this too :)

  10. You won't have a problem shipping your goods, but you are unlikely to get the additional baggage allowance for flights. Most airlines only offer this to those with Permanent residency visas which haven't been activated. The 309 isn't permanent unfortunately. I didn't get anything extra. Remember that Emirates have a 30Kg allowance as standard (most others are 20Kg).

Thanks for that George, I can't stop worrying about how to get our stuff there and us lol relief to know it'll be ok to ship our things. As for flights I guess we shall have to cope with the limited bag allowance. Sucks as we have an 8 month old baby boy whom has soooo much stuff, most of which we would like to have as soon as we get to Oz, i'm thinking we may have to spend the extra and fly emirates.

Anyone have experience of flying with awkwardly aged children? lol.

  11. Hi guys, Just looking at shipping and getting migration flights. All things seem to point to these extra baggage flights being available to people who have unused permanent visas. I'm due to get a 309 which is a temporary visa, so does that mean I will have issues with shipping my household goods and getting these cheaper flights with extra allowance??

    Anyone had any experience?

    Cheers.

  12. Hey guys just a quick question, my partner and i have currently been apart for 2 and a half months me being in england and her in australia and are looking to lodge our application for the spouse visa offshore in two weeks or so we've been living together previously for one and a half years, just wondering if it will be a problem to lodge the application not being living together for the 3 months prior to sending off the application???

We havn't lived together since May 2011 as we were in separate countries hasn't been a problem for our visa application.
